Which the circle has closed and opened again and we are at point of return to start over again. And what models are those? LCD 3? 2? or maybe X? Utter nonsense as you said, indeed.

>accuracy, speed, precision
No. I did not said anything about that, I have just showed you on simple example how shure handle the bass and how their drivers are covering complex low notes.

>It goes below 70 hz
>It keeps off from mid bass and mids away.
>It co-works between Sub-Bass and Bass frequencies.

>Mouser/Digikey for like 5-20 dollars a unit and much cheaper in larger amounts.
We should start the business and make our own CIEM then.

What's with so many people having this incredible brand loyalty towards one brand or the other? Is it simply because they have no experience on others? No manufacturer has a 100% clean track record for their headphones.

Very V-shaped sound, so they don't make that great all-rounders. I used to own them though, and found them both comfy and extremely fun to listen to at least as far as movies, games and electronic music went. Acoustic stuff not so much. You can definitely hear midrange being recessed on those.

H-Hello
>>
>>52953072
Goes for all of them. The differences between the various impedances are minimal. The ohms there mostly just affect the sensitivity so you can choose ones that work well with whatever amplification (or lack thereof) you have. If I remember right the 250 Ω version was recommended for stuff like generic home multipurpose stereo/AV/etc amplifiers that also have a headphone jack in them. Lower is recommended for portable/generally weaker sources and higher is for dedicated headphone amplifiers.
>>
>>52952901
That's not even plausible, relevant, or tropic.
>>
>>52953129
would you say the 880 are more balanced then?
>>
>>52951729
Where do I begin?
>This is not about cable stands 10k per unit
Cable stands at any price have no audio value, but the drivers actually do something, so let's go with that and not talk about gear dressing.
>the double low freq. drivers in 846 can handle this situation like a piece of cake (layered bass mentioned in previous posts) where 535 lacks of precision when A) sub bass and bass is combined B) only bass is present because driver couldn't go low enough for sub bass.
This isn't the thing you seem to think it is. Neither of those headphones have any issue with subbass extension.
The SE846 performance is not exceptional in this regard, it isn't better than the cheap 20 dollar in-ears you can get with some phones. Might be worse even. Even so, the 535 can be said perform well enough to be called linear.
>it goes from 10 Hz to 50 kHz
This doesn't mean much of anything without the frequency response measurement

>>52952187
Audezes sound very similar to each that that a reference to one can be somewhat generalized to all.
I will say the LCD-2 as an example.

>>52953066

Are you being serious? Do you think manufacturer specs and claims are of any value regarding sound?
>And what models are those? LCD 3? 2? or maybe X?
LCD2, LCD3 and LCD X pre fazor are all fairly close to the SE535.
>No. I did not said anything about that, I have just showed you on simple example how shure handle the bass and how their drivers are covering complex low notes.
You did mention all of those terms out of which only one is valid. You didn't really say anything at all of how those operate and more importantly, how exactly the performance is evident. What you said sounded like marketing speech, again.

There's nothing complex about "low notes" and driver performance is rather easy to quantify: frequency response and distortion. Driver type or amount is irrelevant here or how exactly the performance is achieved. End result is what matters and I see nothing amazing in SE846.
>We should start the business and make our own CIEM then.
There certainly is room for improvement in consumer audio market and especially in cIEMs.

>>
>>52954437
You can do better than SE215 below its price point but yes it's definitely good enough for whatever casual listening you are doing if you like a lot of bass. SE535 is not bassy but sounds fairly dark because of the recessed upper mids and poor extension in the treble. It has a nice form factor and fit and I think it's definitely better than SE215. One of the better dark sounding in ears in general. You can get a lot of stuff for that much money though. Your choice.

Anyone know anything about speakers here?

I wanna get rid of my dated Panasonic receiver and speakers, and get some neutral sounding studio-monitor grade speakers, nothing too expensive fancy, but I want speakers that I can mount near my desk and that can accompany my Sennie HD600.

I'm looking at stuff like the Mackie CR4 and M-Audio AV42. Any advice?

Again, I'm not looking to splash an insane amount as I don't actually produce music, I just want nice sound. I listen to mainly electronic stuff, and I look for a neutralish response with maybe slightly accentuated highs, I don't mind light bass too much.

Personally, that kind of top tier stuff I'd sell because I think it's snake oilish and people are willing to buy for a decent price, to which you can buy some nice headphones or something.

Sell Rega P1 and the Cambridge audio unless you are listening to vinyls. Keep DAC1 and use it as your DAC, headphone amplifier and preamp. Get good headphones if you don't already and maybe consider some active monitors.

At least tyll does a ton of measurements. He has a standard way of measuring things, and often puts a disclaimer that his opinions aren't 100% accurate and that you should trust in the graphs. Zeos just uses amazing to describe his headphones.

What does /g/ think of the AKG Kxx? Should I jump on them tomorrow during the exclusive Valentine's day massdrop?

I currently own the AKG K 240 MKII and I'm not sure how much of an upgrade it would be. Looking at the FR of the Kxx reveals some awkward dips in the 3k and 10k areas. Should one be cautious about that (as I'm not too familiar with the impact that would make on the sound)?

Any advice appreciated anons.

Which setup would usually produce better sound quality?

1) Sound goes out to component audio L/R, joined into a single 3.5mm with an adapter and then input into a small battery powered amp, which my headphones are plugged into.

2) Sound goes out to HDMI, which is connected to my TV, battery powered amp is connected to TV headphone jack, and my headphones are connected to the amp.

Usually I've tended to do #1 but I'm pretty bad at judging such things and it's kind of annoying to test back and forth repeatedly.
>>
>>52960958
it just depends which has the better dac, whatever is doing the conversion in #1 vs your tv. we cant really give you a correct answer from just this.
>>
>>52960958
#1 simply because it has fewer steps.

this "component" audio out though, Where's it coming from? the on-board sound card for your PC? It's still likely to be a better DAC than your TV, unless you spent a fortune on the TV.
>>
>>52961025
Usually some game console that doesn't support headphone output in a more convenient fashion.

Switched back to component output and noticed a very distinctive reverb or "rattle" effect on voices when they go low pitched, anyone know why this might be? Might just be my shitty amp I guess (my actual good amp I leave connected to my PC and doesn't have the right connections to use here)

Grated on me quickly and switched back, don't notice the distortion when going out the TV's headphone jack.

Is there any way I can go optical out to my PC and then output the audio through my PC (and my good amp) somehow? That might be the best solution of all if I can do it without increasing latency or degrading the signal.
>>
>>52961402
do you actually think that us people change? i dont own any
>>
>>52961551
dont worry about latency at all, that is not happening to any noticeable degree. but if your tv works okay, then it's fine. the dacs job is to output a clean signal, and if you dont hear anything wrong, then it's 99% working as intended

Clean your ears. An easy way is to get ear syringe/squeeze bulb and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Tilt your head over and squeeze a few drops of hydro-per in your ear and let it soak for a five minutes and wash it out with warm water.

Warning. IIRC ear wax is protection from ear infections so cleaning the ear wax may not be something you want to do if you are prone to ear infections.

Not only have you never heard these headphones before you probably haven't heard anything outside of the free earbuds that came with your smartphone. Actual measurements show just how terribly the M50x are. They are literally worse than the Beats Solo2.
>>
>>52962524
the beats solo 2 are actually better than even a lot of the usual headphones mentioned on here, its just that theyre on-ear
>>
>>52962485
No, from the game console. The PC isn't involved at all right now, I was just considering going from TV to PC digitally so that my PC's DAC could handle it, but it's probably too much of a pain when this works for me right now, and it would mean needing to keep my PC on while playing games so I probably won't do it.

Right now it's either console -> component -> adapter -> amp or console -> tv -> amp

Beats Solo2 measure better than HD600s, so not sure what you're saying. Their problem is they are uncomfortable as hell and don't isolate.
