And why does Lenovo love it that much?

Because it's cheaper to put in a shitty panel than a 1080p panel. Also power savings.

I see one good thing and one bad thing there on the macbook. Looking at the ram, they might have had to increase thickness by maybe a millimeter or two in order to put a proper slot in.

However, Macs get /damn good/ battery life. Consider the entire back half of the case is stacked batteries. Less room taken up by other components = more room for power.

You'll notice no other MFGs do this. The lenovos/toshibas/etc of the world still just use massive block batteries that weigh more and have worse power specs. Sure, they're replaced easier, but by the time the battery has breathed its last, it'll be time for a machine upgrade anyways.

i meant square inch not like 768 dots on every inch of line of pixels but in a square inch sized block there is 768 pixels
>>
>>52949560
I know what you mean, but you're wrong.
1366 x 768 is a resolution. DPI or PPI is not only determined by resolution, but by screen size.
A 768p screen that's 3 inches diagonally is 522.36 PPI
A 768p screen that's 20 inches diagonally is 78.35 PPI
The same amount of pixel stretched out over a larger area = less pixels per square inch
And DPI and PPI is different.
>>

The old one looked better but the new one works better. The old one scaled everything up and broke a lot of software but the new one just blurs everything that isn't text and bolds everything that is text.

That being said it works a lot better when there are no decimal points in scaling so that it doesn't have to interpolate rasterized elements, IE 4K screen with 2x scaling (effective space of 1080p)

They don't, they just cater to what's in demand. Normies who only use their laptops for browsing Facebook can't tell the difference between 1080p and 768p so why should any panel maker go out of their way and make any better screens? If a minority of people do want higher resolution screens, the companies charge them quite a bit.

I used to have a drinking problem and would drop it all the time and shit. I changed out the screen, power and USB port card and keyboard. I also added another 4Gig ram stick to bring it up to 8 and replaced the hdd with an ssd.

It's also easy to open up and clean the dust and shit out. It still my main machine I use it in a dual monitor type setup with the builtin screen and utilize the vga out with xubuntu.

Was expensive when I bought it but still holds up I can even play csgo on lowish settings.

Don't know what the general opinion of dell laptops are here but this was a great investment for me (it was expensive as fuck when I bought it) and I would buy dell again.

if you don't want 1366x768 then don't buy it. Buy a 1080p laptop or fuck off, cunt.
>>
>>52947853

Because are voting with your wallet.
People buy +1080 android phones meanwhile the average joe buy 1366x736 laptops
>>
who 15.6 inch 1366x768 here?
>>
>>52947790

1366x768 is 16:9 and 1920x1080 is 4:3.

For watch widescreen movies you need 16:9

>>

no
>>
>>52962438

Sucks being a DYEL manlet I guess
>>
>>52962550
>hurr I'm a man I can handle it
Worst rebuttal yet still the most common. Step up your game son.
>>
>>52947790

people buy laptops in physical stores and physical stores only sell 1366x768. Large resolutions is really a niche, if need 1080 or more there are specialized online stores.
>>
>>52948365
No it fucking doesn't. I have a 12" 1366x768 laptop and that resolution is fucking dogshit. Makes me want to claw my eyes out every time I have to program or read something on it.
1366x768 and every company that still uses it needs to die in a fire.
>>
>>52962580
I just don't really even notice its weight or size because I can pick up things heavier than a cheetos bag without complaining.

I guess that doesn't make much sense to you, does it?

Enjoy your gimped specs and >muh portability and your retarded little chromebook, faggot.

Who said I need to compromise? Even if I wanted a 17" laptop I wouldn't get one with a dGPU and preferably an Atom
>>
>>52962678
Fucked up editing my post
Even if I wanted a 17" laptop I wouldn't get one unless it had an iGPU and preferably an Atom.

But i honestly encounter IT people like this daily, and it's absolutely fucking maddening. They actually believe this shit.

Then buy a 21:9 and quit crying on the internet. 16:9 isn't even the digital standard for movies, you autist.

I'm using a 14 inch 1366x768 laptop and it's perfectly fine. 1080p would be nicer but whatever, it was cheap.

If you want 1080p you have to fucking pay for it. Stop being a poorfag and demanding better ship for cheaper.
>>
>>52962701
>17 inch laptop
>cherry trail atom
>4gb ram

I'd buy it if it was 14 inch 2bh.

I have changed the keyboard (my dog jumped on my lap and broke a few keys off my laptop) and replaced the battery to a bigger one. I'm currently waiting for my HDD caddy so I can replace the optical drive, which is hot-swappable. Others have replaced the screen too, to get a higher resolution, but I already have 1440x900 on a 14" screen so I haven't needed that.

It's possible to open it up (and I have) so much that you could replace the thermal paste. I have cleaned all the dust off from it, even though it has a pretty good fan design that doesn't suck in all the dust from the room.

I have replaced the HDD inside to an SSD and I could replace the RAM at any point. Without actually upgrading the processor or motherboard or GPU or something, how could a laptop be any more serviceable?

Apple users will never know this joy of a long lasting design. Extremely lucky ones can probably skip one or two generations before it completely shits itself.

>Doesn't every manufacturer do this?
Not Lenovo :^)

You don't even lose warranty from replacing most parts.

1366x768 gives a pretty standard DPI for a 13" monitor. Compare the DPI with a typical desktop 22" 1920x1080 or 27" 2560x1440 monitor. Laptops are just bad with tiny screens, shitty keyboards, touchpads, et cetera.
>>
>$300 phone
>1080p

>$700 laptop
>1366x768

Explain to me why this is acceptable in current year
>>
>>52967569
Because normies don't care
>>
>>52967569
Phones need 2.2 times the PPI to render fonts that don't give you eye cancer.
>>
>>52956472
he's right though
>>
>>52948310
>being this retarded
>>
>>52967761
Well laptop manufacturers should take that into account too because my 15.6" 1366x768 laptop provides me with a > 5 hour dose of eye cancer daily.
>>
>>52951393
It needs to be 1:1 tho
>>
>2016
>buying anything with a screen res <1080p
>>
>>52949617
>DPI or PPI is not only determined by resolution, but by screen size.
It's determined by both.
>>
>>52967569
because laptops are for actual work, not for putting ugly pictures on instagram or gaining social status among your high school friends, etc.
>>
>>52967965
Why did you buy one with that resolution when there are others too? Did you think you could handle it? Maybe that's what other buyers are thinking too.

>>

but t.b.h. i didn't notice that until he autismed it out
>>
It won't die as long as you autistics keep buying it

>hurr hurr look le megboog is so overpriced guise, I can get a processor that advertises the same frequency and a dedicated 940m graphics card for $1000 less!
>Hurr hurr guise I just bought a laptop but holy shit why do Laptop keyboards suck so much, and what the fuck is with the screen, it sucks and trackpads are so fucking unprecise, the battery only lasts for two hours and it's all cheap plastic! How do people even deal with this? Notebook users BTFO!
>>
It's the perfect resolution for everything except gaming.
>>
>>52971218
No, that'd be something more along the lines of 1280x800
>>
>>52947808
What exactly is he trying to say with this picture? Does he actually give a shit about how it looks inside?
