Only cause the market is trending in that direction. They gave you full control over everything in XP and Vista, and the OS was a piece of shit because not a single user understood the repercussions of such level of control; other than the people who made malware. People want the comfort of ease of use, not the security of being in control.

Personally, I'll believe it when I see it. But I think the main reason they'd have for doing this is, the bad PR is too much for them. Windows 10 adoption has been slow as fuck. So their logic here is, they can probably make enough money off of the current crop of people who don't mind their privacy being invaded to let power users disable it. Plus, if they get rid of the
>you literally can't turn off this shit

rhetoric whenever anyone asks about Windows 10, more people who are undecided or wouldn't know any better would jump on is what they're probably thinking. Plus, you guys are forgetting the biggest cash cow for M$, the enterprise market. You think they're okay with letting their machines with private corporate data be be telememed? Of course not, no knowledgeable sysadmin would ever consult to upgrade to 10 with that kind of shit. M$ went too far this time because their business customers aren't taking that shit. Also, inb4

Still keeping up the fallacies I see. See, Microsoft probably collects data to see if you have anything illegal on your pc, which puts them on the government payroll. They just do what the government asks them so they can enjoy the taxpayers' money.

That's not a fallacy, Pajeet, it's a legitimate concern considering blackhats are more aggressive than ever. Just today an anonymous (as in journalist anonymous) Apple employee came out and said blackhats were offering him 5 figure sums for his credentials. You think they're not trying the same shit with M$ also? Get real. Any data M$ or ANY company collects is a liability because these companies are forever on the defensive and it is only a matter of time.

Ok I'll try to answer your kinda rhetorical question. Anyone whose data is important is likely already aware of it and protects it. The average Joe's data isn't important to 'blackhats', the only thing Microsoft needs from the average Joe's data is the illegal bit they 'sell' to the government and the other bit they sell to advertising companies.

Is this what you fucking idiots are resorting to? Government systems are in worse shape than a company like fucking microsoft, not to mention you are probably dumb enough to think that shit like uac escalations and other bullshit is actually the same as PII coming from the government.

>Thinks XP was shit
Awful bait, Microsoft for a while was very about user control and they fully supported power users, IT professionals, and those who wanted to learn about computing. Doing so made their user base swell. The company however in recent years since around the Windows 8 era has taken a shift in the opposite direction against these groups, the first indicator of this was them killing technet.

While Microsoft still has great documentation for it's products (excluding things like their CRM products which are locked behind a paywall) the documentation has been becoming less and less clear, especially when it comes to the contents of updates. At least the professional tools they offer like the SysInternals Suite, EMET, and others are still around I guess. Wouldn't be shocked if they start charging for these eventually though considering how anti-user they have gotten. All of this can be blamed on their new CEO and his cloud obsession.

>Ok first of all, they don't publish your data, and they don't 'troll through' your email to see whatever porn sites you're registered to.

Yes they do. Due to CISA it is legal for them to sell ALL your information (including stuff like social security number, passwords, credit card numbers and what ever "information the user provide by using the company services" without informing you or asking for your permission. they can sell it to other companies, the government or even criminals without having responsability for what happens with the information. Why would they avoid a legally safe way to get income? It's a company and not a charity. It is of course good for marketing to pretend they DON'T do that, but because they don't legally have to ask for permission they can keep this secret.

this is what happens when the supreme court judges the NSA to be breaking the 4th amendment. They have to use corporations because the 4th amendment only apply to the state

kde and gnome are only slower than windows if you configure it that way.
Bugs are present in all software, nothing is idiot proof. KDE developers are not concerned with ironing out bugs, as it is more fun to make new features, so obviously they will have more bugs than other systems.
KDE is really what you make of it.
But the gems they spit out is usable on all desktops.
So if you want something faster, use that.
I don't really see how people being able to work on the system people use is a proof of how bad linux is.

Different projects have different priorities.
Not prioritizing support for mounting a non existant floppy disk in a modern desktop is hardly a real issue.
The error message makes sense. You get the command it was trying to run and the reason it failed, you do not have a disk inserted.
Multiple instances could easily be fixed by checking if it is running, but again, nobody cares.
Mint 17.3 was released in 2015.
I haven't seen a floppy disk since 2008 and even then it was pretty rare to see them being used for anything other than the "save" icon on applications.
Who the fuck uses floppy disks in 2015?
Not the same people who mint is targeted towards.

Fuckoff you stupid cuck

It's not like you would be able to audit the code of something so complicated in the first place. Just like auditing Linux code allows glaring security holes to go unnoticed for decades

But just like fuckingxclockwork, anything and everything microsoft does mentally unstable suicidal Linux shills like yourself will complain

>Just like auditing Linux code allows glaring security holes to go unnoticed for decades
>It's le so complex that no one can audit it
>if I can't audit it, it doesn't matter whether the source code is visible or not
That's not how it works retard. Even with microsoft spaghettii code auditing is possible and it is fairly easy to see the larger functions of a program.
>Just like auditing Linux code allows glaring security holes to go unnoticed for decades
Yeah, because microshit is so much better. There is no such thing as bugfree software but you would know that if you weren't a mentally retarded wincuck.

Why would I be angry? I just use the appropriate conversational style of this board and label things in an correct manner. If I called >>52940424 anything besides "mentally retarded wincuck" I would not be speaking the plain truth and that would stand out as a negative towards this great community.

I'll take the bait

>no games
Linux has tons of games, a lot of AAA games are getting ported due to valve's open source software
>no commercial software
There's plenty of it, must just don't use it
RHEL is one examole
>full featured DEs like KDE or GNOME are slower and buggier then Windows
I'll give you KDE being buggy, but GNOME in my experience has never given me a issue or be slow
>unstable
Only if you go into it not knowing what you're doing
>you'll earn yourself a special NSA marker once you connect to the Internet because actual terrorists use Linux
There's no evidence to support this
