I got thermal paste with my Intel processor

first i test out the cpu with no thermal paste to make sure everything works. then i remove it and lap it until it has a mirror finish. i do the same with the heat sink. then i squeeze an entire tube of arctic silver on it and go outside and not complete the project.
I usually look up a picture of the de-lidded processor, then make a very small line of thermal paste right on top of where the die would be below the heat spreader. Has been working out pretty well.

I use a small brush like what you would find in a bottle of nail polish to spread the paste around evenly on the HS.
