What are gravity waves and why is this a significant discovery?
>>

Eventually it will make your games run with more FPS.
>>
>>52919149
They're something to do with einstein's theories of relativity.
If you imagine spacetime as the surface of a pond, a fast moving binary star makes really small ripples in the pond.
The ripples have been detected
>>
>gravity waves
what exactly is "gravity"?
>>
>>52919191
>If you imagine spacetime as the surface of a pond, a fast moving binary star makes really small ripples in the pond.
I understand that.
>The ripples have been detected
Yeah, so why is this big? what does this mean for us?

If you know it exists, it's only a matter of time until you can manipulate it.

Hyper drives in space ships in 3...2....1.....
>>
>>52919212
Scientists have been looking for them hell of a long time. Theoretically, they can be used to peek into galaxies completely obscured by dust. And maybe warp drives, kek.
>>
>>52919102
You mama so fat......
>>
>>52919149
Ripples in space time caused by events involving objects with a significant mass that support theory of relativity or some such mostly significant because it's predicted by current understanding of physics and thus makes those theories all the more "proven"

Or that's what I have seen on other threads about it as you can probably tell Ive no fuckin idea really there are nasa posts about it probably
>>
>>52919256
>Theoretically, they can be used to peek into galaxies completely obscured by dust.
Reminds me of someone gaining root or kernel access by exploiting some obscure turing tar pit exploit, like that one where the guy get's ring -2 access by exploiting a bug in x86.
Scientists must have a hard life.

I bet you relate everything to computers all the time.

Not saying that's a bad thing though, it's pretty cool and you seem fun to talk to even though I have no idea what you just said

I don't believe any of it. Einstein's gravity waves have not been found. And I don't care what CNN says about it.

Yes, watch the video. they detected a wave that matched up with a known black hole collision that occurred a billion years ago.

is it time for a new particle yet?

You're beyond retarded.
>>
>>52919208
I don't know. They say it's the name for the phenomenon that pulls everything down when thrown up. But what it is, I don't know. Nikola Tesla, "the Greatest inventor of all time" (I know), said that gravity is a manifestation of cosmic compression. I don't know the nitty gritty of it, but I think it involves what he called aether.

What are the practical applications for this

it's not "impossible to produce" but production is expensive as fuck

so you need to spend a kilogram of gold to make a gram
>>
>>52921210
The amount of gold you would produce from the amount of energy expanded wouldn't make it worthwhile.
>>
>>52921210
yeah too bad the price of trasmutation is way higher than the value of the gold you get after the trasmutation process kek... you could probably build 100 gold mines for the same money trasmutation costs.

>>

It is a method theorized long ago that just now can be used in practice to observe events. Think of how X rays and radio observatories expanded our comprehension compared to just plain visible light.

Of particular importance is that these waves can be used to observe events otherwise obscured by mass or radiation (neutron stars) and those that are just very difficult to observe otherwise like black holes.

Also, normal radiation in the early universe did not move freely while gravitational waves should not suffer from this problem, which opens a new window to the early universe, maybe even the big bang itself.

Nuclear fusion ITSELF will produce more gold to energy consumed than you would make by colliding atoms in a particle accelerator, and it has the benefit of being a byproduct of producing energy.

So, basically, there are at least 6 more dimensions we are unaware of, which means somewhere there is an 8 dimensional being moaning about how pig disguising 8D is and how he'd love to finally meet his 3D husbando

gravity waves are waves in material such as tidal waves

gravitational waves are waves in space-time

gravity waves =! gravitational waves

but we know what you mean

you live in a vast structure the nature of which is not clearly understood, but today some of its features were clarified
>>
>>52926903
They have actually researched the topic unlike you. I'm looking forward to Trump trying to trying to negotiate with China and getting blown to pieces by Chinese gravitational waves.
