Would you recommend this gaming laptop? It fits my $1000 budget pretty well and I wanted to know if this is the best deal for under $1000

Note, I don't care if you like Intel or AMD
I know it's only a 960m, I can't spend too much
I know a PC would probably be cheaper, but I'm on the move a lot and a Laptop just fits my life better.

I already spent $2,300 on Amazon for 2 of these, 2 cooling pads (I know they are shit but I need to keep the dust out and other crap) and the warranties, before it ships in the morning I was wondering your opinion, anon.
>>
Oh shit my bad, it's this one

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017LEKKQ6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
>>
Hey anon
I got this lenovo y50-70 and it's pretty good, maybe you'll find it better choice
>>
I think I may have an older version of this laptop. I bought it refurbished in 2013 for $900. It is still going strong. I only had to reimage the machine once (late 2015) to get the sluggish performace to go away, but other than that it has been a great machine and I cannot complain.

mine has a 660m + i73610QM
>>
>>52912075
Hey I have a good question, see I'm new to the master race scene, and I was wondering how hot these things get, and if a cooling pad will do me any good at all.

People say it gets really hot, as others say it handles itself really well.
>>
>>52912127
The image posted will get hot. My model has a huge vent area in the back, so it never overheats.
>>
>>52912127
>I'm new to the master race scene
That's some cringey shit right there.

And even so, a 'gaming laptop' is almost console tier shit.

In regards to heat though, it'll be fine if you use it on a table/desk. Using it on your lap will block airflow underneath, and cause it to get hot.
>>
>>52912177
Okay thanks for the tips anon, and I know it's cringe I just went along with what I hear people screaming.

Personally I only have a Wii U because I like the Exclusives, and I plan on getting either a PS4 or Xbox One later this year
>>
>>52912127
I manage to buy one used for $550. Had it for a few months now and its worked flawlessly. It doesn't run too hot even when playing games like crysis2/fallout4 the fan isn't too loud either
>>
>>52912214
Great to hear, I plan on playing slightly older games like Diablo 3 and Planetside 2 so it's nice to know it will exceed my expectations
>>
>>52912173
Again I've heard mixed things about it getting hot and not, so to be on the safe side I got cooling pads. Thanks for the input!
>>
>>52912127
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3zcat1-8D0

yes its linus and hate on that all you want but its a decent video for what youre asking

in my experience any "performance/gaming" laptop get VERY hot and VERY loud. if thats an issue you should really consider it. they also have TERRIBLE battery life even when not gaming.

otherwise its a fine deal.If you care about saving any laptops with gtx 860m cards can be found for ~$750 on occasion but usually 800. the 860m perform only very slightly below the 960 so its honestly worth considering.

may i ask why you are in need of 2 gaming laptops? just curious
>>
>>52912247
I'll check out the video, thanks anon, and yeah I am expecting shit battery life but I plan to keep it on the charger. Speaking of, what should I do if the charger begins to overheat?

And I got 2 cause my brother has also been searching for a laptop so I figured I would.
>>
>>52912247
That is actually exactly what I needed, for the cooling pad shown in the video happens to be the exact same one I bought
>>
>>52912025
I had the 965m version of this for a little while, and it was like 14 fucking pounds and very bulky. Not sure how this one is, but i'd suggest a SAGER/Clevo laptop if you're set on a gaming one.
>>
>>52912442
If I can find one that's better and matches the price i'll do It in a heartbeat
>>
>>52912459
Yeah that's the big issue with them, and the prices never factor in the cost of a Windows OS if you aren't going to install something else on it.
>>
>>52912488
That's a shame, but i'll remember It for the future
>>
>>52912022
I got a g751 to replace my g740sx3de and it's great
>>
>>52912539
I don't know what those are but congratulations anon, I wish I knew half the stuff about computers that you guys do.
>>
Also a ps. The g74 and up series from Asus are great with air flow, they pull from under the screen and blow through the back so you can have it on your lap for hours and the gpu/cpu never go over 45ish. Especially if you repaste asap with better thermal compound or get it built custom and pay for the upgrade. The stock fans are very nice. The speakers on my g74 were amazing when it was new and lasted long but newer speakers blow them out. I'm fairly supposed how good the g751 speakers are. It has a dedicated sub under the front right bottom side which isn't noticeable sounding until you turn it off and realize it's making up for the low end missed out by the canned speakers stored under the back end cover next to the hinges on either side. They did this I assume so the speakers could be small and hidden but still put out excellent highs and mids with no low end to compromise that range. I liked the matte screen of my g74 better and it was 3d but I use my tv more often anyway so I don't mind losing out on 3d but the glossy g751 can be annoying. I also hate trackpads with buttons built into the touch sensitive area damn cursor moves before each click so I'm glad Asus keeps to physical buttons but I use a mouse when possible. Keyboard surprisingly bright compared to the g74 and just as responsive as asus get series chicklets have always been but I use my mk as often as I can if home especially. Mine came with only 8gb ddr3l memory. The factory ram is installed on the top side of the mobo under the keyboard but there are 2 slots on the underside of the mobo under the expansion cover. I got the non ssd version and through my slave drive from the g74 with any necessary files to be moved in there and slapped in 2 more 4gb ddr3l ram chipsets in the expansion slots so I'm running with 1.25TB, my 3TB external hdd wd my book for backups and home media server, 16gb ddr3l, ic diamond paste and factory nuts and bolts there out. The touch screen I hardly use since I hate smudges.
>>
>>52912634
The g751 is the model if Asus in OPs pic? The g74 was an older model, sx3de being the specific sub model, an sx with a 3d screen upgrade. Know the Asus my friend it will help you.

If I must get a laptop for portability issues, I'd rather have a gaming laptop and as much power as a laptop brings than an entertainment laptop that starts choking when you launch photoshop

Well.... the g74 series and up is good. Just vouch in for that... lol btw that's under 1k right now too and comes with the next to newest gen i7 extreme stock. At least mine did when I got it 6 months ago at 1k.. and a gtx 965m so... slightly better than the 960m you mentioned

Op make one of these desktop in a suitcase things. I agree it's not as portable as a legit laptop, but it's still portable in the strict sense.
You won't be using your laptop anywhere away from a power socket anyway. Because your PC is inside a suitcase, it will be portable even if it is 15 lbs
There are guides all over the internet, look into it, you just might be in need of this
>>

Looks interesting, i'll give It a look anon, thank you!

Look into Lenovo's Y series laptops. You have to purchase them from their website though to get best prices. They even go on sale for lower every other month or so.

I love all the people in ESO who play on laptops, and in the middle of an emperor dethrone fight they're the first to start screaming "OMG the LAG, why won't Zenimax FIX THE FREAKIN LAG"

meanwhile the rest of us on 970's are doing just fine

OP gaming laptops can't handle it, don't buy one, they are lightweight and they are a ripoff
