Just bought a new graphics card (Gtx 960) and found out I dont have any 6 pins connector to it from the psu. What the fuck should I do now? buy a new psu?

The box is an HP 8300 elite with proprietary psu and the motherboard is HP too. Is there any adapter I can buy to share the 6 pin connector which goes to the motherboard to the graphics card too?

pic: don't have that
>>

Get a NZXT case for like 60 bucks and a RM650 for like 80
Seems like it's not worth it now but later when you want to upgrade it will be
>>
you want molex to 6 pin, they're cheap as fuck and see if that will work.
>>
>>52906012
Where should I connect the molex from? From the port that goes to the motherboard and therefrom to the graphics card?
>>
oh and if you don't have any free molex adapters coming out of your psu then you did this to yourself by buying prebuilt.
>>
>>52905927

I got a 6 to 8 pins adapter because I wanted to keep my old psu. Never had any problem with that. There's certainly a 8 to 6 pins adapter somewhere.
>>
>>52905927
6 pin is just 4 pin + 2 ground (no power)

Just plug it in and see if it works. If it doesn't buy an adapter.

Psu's don't cost that much, cheapskate
>>
Dont buy the adapter. It's a shitty solution that can fuck up your stuff sooner or later. Get a proper PSU.
>>

If you can live without your DVD drive you can buy a sata to pcie adapter. Both are 12v.

plug in what? I don't even have any free 4 or 6 pin to plug in, nothing is free coming out from the psu.

I didn't bought this, got it for free from a relative. It's a good box, fast and all, already bought a ssd for it and you see specs in pic
>>
>>52905927
I've been reading people with this problem so many times since the 960 came out.
What kind of ghetto ass PSU are you people using? Even my old Corsair TX has them.
>>
>>52906150
Take a pic of the sticker on the psu

Like I said, sata to pcie will work if you don't have a molex.

best answer!

IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE!

>320 watts
Kek, have a good time with your 960
>>
>>52906175
Could I use one of the sata that goes to the harddrives? its also 12v?
>>
>>52906248
12v 16a = 190w

You're cutting it extremely close even with the sata solution.
>>
>>52906051
I use the same, works like a charm
>>
>>52906266
>>52906272
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
i guess the best and safest option is to buy a new psu? and then a new case and then a new motherboard
>>
>>52906248
I's not enough... I got a 500W PSU with my case. If i'll ever upgrade (Now i got a quadro k620, it'll be an upgrade?) to a 960 i'll need a powerful PSU like a 600W or a 720W
>>
So what the fuck should I do? Return the graphics card and buy a new or used box or should I keep this box, buy another motherboard, buy a new psu, buy a new case and transfer the cpu, ram and this new graphics?
>>
>>52906299
Yep. At least 450 to 500 watts, but make sure it's somewhere on that range on the +12v rail.
>>
>>52906313
Why? The Gtx960 only use approx 120W?
>>
>>52906338
+Buy a better quality PSU
>>
>>52906329
Just buy a 350w+ psu

They cost like $30
>>
>>52906354
Yes, but count the HDD, the fans, the 100W CPU some external drive. and the fact that is a case PSU. it's not a really stable things...
>>
>>52906373
This is good

>>
>>52906373
This is already ~350W why the fuck would I buy the same shit, If I buy anything it wont fit the motherboard anyway! Since the motherboards ports are only proprietary for this PSU
>>
>>52906399
>EVGA
but except this is good
>>
It's actually a pretty good card, low power consumption.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038-8.html
>>
it might actually work, recommended wattage is like 308 according to some random website i just went to
>>
>>52906402
And that's a good reason not to buy a branded PC, but build one yourself.
>>
>>52906402
Alright faggot your only choice now

>run the card as is, get only 80% performance to prevent house fires

>put on the big boy goggles and run dual psus with the side panel off

>buy a Pico psu
>>
>>52906515
but I cant figure out exactly which adapter to buy
>>
>>52906523
I think I'll have to buy a new case, buy a new psu and then buy a new motherboard, move everything onto that.

Is it difficult to move the cpu? easy to damage?
>>
>>52906597
It's easy as long as you are not an idiot.

Fucking retard. I hate praising Nvidia, but the 960 uses fuck all in terms of power. In terms of raw wattage his current PSU would run it, his CPU and everything else just fine if it had a 6-pin. A 500W PSU will run a fucking 390X.
>>
>>52907344
Please help, what should I do now?
>>
>>52907539
Either get a new PSU, or get a GTX 950 which doesn't require supplementary power
>>
>>52907600
>GTX 950
I meant the 750ti
>>
I decided that I will keep the card (gtx 960), buy a cheap chassi and a psu, but cannot figure out which moboard I should buy, the processor I have in this box is an i7 3770
>>
>>52907816
can't you use the same board?
>>
>>52907825
The board have special connectors that require this HP psu

Hi anon. What's up? How's life going? You could not change the font of your HP? I remember the other threads that you created about him.
>>
What motherboard socket will work for the i7 3770? 1155? 1151?
>>
>>52906354
>>52906389
500W is easily enough for a 960 with any modern Intel processor. Even with 8 HDD and 12 case fans and four LED strips.
>>
>>52906150
what program is this?
