It's an improvement for sure but i just like that WPS copy of MS ribbon. Dunno, it really suits me and unlike Libre, it doesn't look like it's from the 90s

I am aware of the "Chink botnet" but it's one beautiful botnet indeed

Chink botnet?

>>52900904
Chink botnet is better than Redmond botnet
>>
>>52900911
people here like to bash WPS and call it chink botnet simply because that Office suite is not entirely free (it's free for users, but the code isn't available). So some of the paraniod ones think Chinese governemnt spies users through it

I'm still on the stable libreoffice.
IDK why they disabled the ability to change the printing orientation from the printing screen.

Example: The document is vertical, press print and change orientation to vertical. Or vice-versa.

Why do I need this? Because shitty libre office keeps turning around some of my documents so I need to correct their mistake. But with the new versions, i can't.

Don't get me wrong, Libre is the best office suite yet but I wont be upgrading anytime soon.

oops, I meant "change the orientation to horizontal"

guess the icon set looks a little better at least, but fuck that nostalgiatard interface, office 97 was a wasteful piece of shit

This bug
>FORMATTING: Bibliography styles are forgotten on Writer restart
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64891
is still not fixed.

It's really annoying because I try to use it for academic use and want it to manage citations automatically. But having to recreate the style all the time sucks.
>>
>>52902630
>superior
what the fuck is so wrong with the ribbon?
the office 97-2k3 toolbar interface was wasteful as shit and cluttered the screen immensely if you actually wanted to do real work with it

the ribbon just organized these features into a more manageable menuing system that's pretty fast to switch between and allows for larger controls that are easier to read/find than hovering over some tiny icon and waiting for a tooltip to determine what the fuck it does

install it just now.

open writer.

add table.

I need the table to take the whole page. Can't stretch it.

only stretch the last row, which is now 20 times taller than the other rows.

select all rows

click on 'distribute rows equally'

MAKES ALL THE ROWS JUST AS TALL AS THE LAST ONE, TAKING UP SEVERAL PAGES.

UNINSTALL.

Good ol' word 2003 still undefeated.

I've never needed to open several document files. I don't see a lot of people doing that. I doubt there is a need for it.

task: make a table that takes the whole page with equal rows. something that doesn't require me filling in height numbers.

figure it out, prove me wrong, faggot.
>>
>>52903830
i guess 99% of file interfaces have tabs nowadays because programmers like to waste time and functions for no reason.
>>
>>52900943
This year will be THE year of Linux
>>
>>52903973
>file interfaces
A word processor is not a file interface.
Programmers do not use word editors (for programming). I can't think of a usecase where you have more than 2 documents open at once.

Having tabs while most users will ever only run 1 instance is a waste of space.
>>
>>52903998
you are making no sense. I have more than 2 documents open all the time and I'm dying for a decent tabbed word editor. But go ahead with your self-referential amateurish ergonomic thinking...
>>
>>52904134
You can't efficiently work on more than one document at once. If you need to look something up in other documents, you are using the wrong tool for the job. Export them as PDF and open them with a PDF viewer.
>>
>>52904166
oh my god you have no clue. outta here
>>
>>52904166
>have spreadsheet with formatted information about tests
>need to import to document for write up/report
>hurr just export to pdf and then copy and paste the table back into the editor. It'll definately not turn to gibberish when you do
>>
>>52904190
You seem to be the only one with that issue, so it must be on your end.
>>
>>52904255
Spreadsheet and word processor are 2 different applications. Tabs aren't going to help you there.

Or do you want to copy from one spreadsheet to another?

And that would still only be 2 documents at once. Hardly cluttering your taskbar.

>LibreOffice 5.1 offers a completely reorganized user interface, and several improved features targeted at enterprise deployments: better support for ODF 1.2, interoperability with proprietary document formats and file management on remote servers.
> Files on remote file servers such as Sharepoint, Google Drive and Alfresco can now be accessed from the File menu, with read and write options, without the need of a dialog window.

can they rename it??? "Libre" anything sounds stupid and doesn't roll off the tongue like "Open Office" or "Star Office" does.

And, yes, a shitty name can hinder adoption.

You know that "libre" is a word in a half dozen languages, right? Other Romance languages rightfully distinguish between free burgers and free societies.
>>
>>52907018

none of which matters because the name is targeted towards English speakers. If it wasn't, it'd be something like "Oficina/Ufficio/Birou/Bureau/Escritório Libre" or what the fuck ever.

"Libre Office" sounds retarded. Give it a name that invokes a feeling that this is a quality piece of software and adoption rates will shoot through the roof.
