>>
>>52894739

non k chips can have their multipliers adjusted now on many motherboards, allowing for basic overclocking. non k chips have always been advertised as non overclockable, only now skylake has a workaround allowing for it despite this. 2% gain is still 2%. Would you advocate in buying tech 2% worse for similar costs? perhaps you would advocate buying AMD "just because" or buying nothing at all?

There is no reason to hate skylake beyond price. AMD's offering are far inferior and you have to choose between AMD and Intel so you might as well get better per clock performance and IPC with intel.
>>
>>52894667
I think he means Samsung ones.

The only reason that people shit on Skylake here is because tons of people on housefire Devil's Canyon Haswells, and are jelly as fuck that Skylake has superior IPC while having half the thermals.

>>
>>52894417

SSD's are a more justifiable purchase than expensive cases, gaming motherboards, aftermarket CPU coolers, mechanical keyboards and probably a large number of other /g/ memes. There is noticeable performance increases on almost any task compared to even brand new HDD's. 16GB of ram are, in a lot of places, selling for almost the same cost as 8GB modules. If youre building a new PC right now, you might as well spend the extra $20 and double your memory. I've played games (planetary annihilation) that use 4GB on its own. add the OS overhead and background programs and youre looking at 6GB. In the next few years, who knows what the needs will be? At the end of my i7 950 life the 6GB tri channel was not enough to run some newer games and this was the recommended amount when I bought it.

And in newer high end cars, aspects of the ECU can be set via the infotainment unit.

Tell you what op: try gaming while having a few browser tabs open, one of them streaming content to a 2nd monitor, and rendering/data backup/recovery in the background, then come tell us if 8gb are enough.

ssds are for loading lots of data in a short amount of time
for server storage, large files like videos, lots of music, lots of pictures, large databases, etc hdds are still king
use the right tool for the job you sperg
ssds for applications or other performance critical data and hdds for high capacity, long term storage
>>
>>52899819
The point is that it's not the same price, you retard. Compared to Haswell, the Skylake processors are slightly more expensive (except for the 6700K, which is a LOT more expensive), the motherboards are more expensive, and the DDR4 memory is more expensive. Depending on the deals you find, you can have a Haswell platform that performs the same for $50 or so less. You can then put that money towards more memory, or a SSD, or a better GPU, or a second/bigger hard drive, or a better PSU, or a nicer case, or a better monitor, or a mechanical keyboard, or better headphones, or going on a date with a girl (lel)... Anything but wasting money on the Skylake joke.

OK, I'll bite.

If you have free software, there is not much incentive (apart from other /g/ents tearing the code apart) not to put spyware in your code. Look at it this way: For every 1 geek who knows what the fuck you did in that code, there will be hundreds of people just saying "Ooh, cool free software!" and not bothering to check. Just the same as torrenting. Companies, on the other hand, face charges if they pull this sort of shit.
