Someone really needs to report his videos for hard-coded advertisements into his videos.

It's seriously unethical.
>>
>>52893502
Yeah, I'm sure the channel with 2.3m subs is just flying right under Google's radar.
>>
>>52893373
What, precisely, is the problem?

This guy is such an attention whoring fag.

Why doesn't he just do gay porn already and get it over with.

Not like many over-100000-subscriber channels are doing it or anything.

Oh wait, they are.

Linus Tech Tips isn't technology.

He is a label reader, he doesn't know anything.
He doesn't know even basic physics.
He doesn't know even basic math.
He doesn't have, and never had, a legit tech job.
He doesn't have any tech related degree/diploma/course certification.
Yet in spite of all of this he acts like he knows anything.
His Linkedin is full of management bullshit, swimming instructor, and boyscout.

He is a fucking marketer. His hardware reviews are about as informative as reading the fucking PDF. The average joe is more likely to get fucked over by listening to his idiocy.
His "humor" is 9gag level.

He is so fucking tech illiterate that he had to employ a special writer for his TechQuickie channel because he's too stupid himself. The same faggot who tried to push a spiritual book as a solution for carpal tunnel or something.

His group is a marketing group, not a tech group.

He pays his faggot employees minimum wage, his ad revenue has halved, and YT revenue is shit in the first place. He had to Internet beg for money in order to move to an office, that he managed to get ripped off on because he is a dumb faggot (self-admittedly).

If you want computer case angles and proper feature description with objective reviews, you watch those faggots HardwareCanucks, who even go as far as overviewing fucking dust filters.

If you want to post an actual on-topic /g/ related YouTuber, you post people who actually have tech jobs, tech education, and practical application, like Wendell from TekShitdictate and the Linux channel, or Louis Rossman for board repair and reading blueprints.

Linus Tech Tips is not /g/, it is >>>/biz/. Fuck off.

how?
>>

Jelly fags that have never held a power tool and don't actually know how graphics cards work are the problem.

Nothing wrong with cutting an unneeded connector off to make a dual slot card a single slot card.

The GPU gives no shits if the connection is broken at the pins or at the connector, all it sees is a disconnected display at that port either way.

Linus gives no shits about the "value" of the card because he doesn't have to sell it to buy food. He doesn't have to sell it all.
>>
>>52893502
>It's seriously unethical
Oh dear, google misses out on SOME revenue.

Now they're only making truckloads of money, rather than boatloads of money.
>>
>>52893710
I think he's trying to equate linus' channel to how it is considered unethical for a news website to write a critical review of a product while running advertisements for that product.

What the average /g/tard cant seem to grasp, is that liking a product or series of products is not necessarily advertisement.
>>
>>52893532
Nothing. It solves a problem.

There is no real reason why what he's doing is bad, if anything it might prompt board partners to release single-slot GPUs, minus any heatsink, with the expectation that you'll water-cool it.
>>
i wonder how much of the Linus Media Group budget is dedicated to image board and reddit shilling
>>
>>52893747
/g/ is just too retarded to differentiate between advertisement portions and review portions of the videos. They include both, but the two are fairly well defined. There's generally a product advertisement and the beginning and a website/service ad at the end. /g/ confuses the presence of those ads with the reviews and opinions expressed in the rest of the video.

Best solution is how the old low profile cars were done.

Single slot standard height bracket with all connectors, dual slot low pro bracket with all connectors, or you could get a single slot low pro bracket and just unplug the extra connector.
>>
>>52893873
Those weren't "low-profile", they simply didn't need the space.

What I'm talking about is modern single-slot GPUs shipping with a shroud in place of a heatsink, the only function of which is to keep any included VRM heat-pads in place, and which comes with instructions on how to prepare the card for water-block installation.
>>
he could have just desoldered the dvi ports
who uses dvi nowadays anyway?

>>52894258
I do, on my 7850.

When I upgrade I plan to use DP1.3 though.

It worked and he got exactly what he was aiming for out of the whole thing.

>doesn't know what low profile is
It has nothing to do with the heatsink. The point is the extra connector can be moved, or if needed just disconnected entirely to make room for another card when used in a system that requires low profile cards.
>>
>>52893502
>Someone really needs to report his videos for hard-coded advertisements into his videos
Yep we should report him on mass for having the word "pussies" on his shirt.

that word isn't very pc as we have found out with trumps outburst, the fuckin media refuses to say the word
>>
>how can you be this retarded

>Decides he values single slot more than a DVI-D port
>uses painters tape, and a plastic film to protect PCB from metal dust
>Uses vacuum to suck away majority of metal dust
>cuts the piece off with the proper tool for the job
>Files down sharp edges
>cleans card with isopropyl alcohol

the retarded moment was where he gouged his vacuum. Otherwise he followed safety procedures, and did a good job of it.

Linus is dumb, but if a single slot titan doesn't exist he solved a valid problem.

I came expecting to see someone cut off the entire vrm portion of the pcb for extreme overclocking purposes and left in despair knowing that 1) retards like linus exist and 2) /g/ knows no better.
>>
>>52896133
For ease of installation and low manufacturing cost, the two ports are installed as one unit.

He'd need to either desolder the connector, desolder a single connector from a seperate donor card, then resolder new connector on, or desolder, cut it the same way he did, then resolder cut connector.

Given those two vs the route he chose, what he did was far easier and less time consuming. And if you're careful (which you need to be no matter which route you take) then there's little to no chance of fucking anything up.

Just because it looks scary before you understand what's going on doesn't mean it's not a good option.
