Only good thing about reddit are small boards and a couple of others that I go just to get sport news. The voting system on reddit actually improves the discussion culture on that board most of the time. Quality posts that contain good argumentations will usually get upvoted and put into a more prominent place.
Things that get downvoted are usually just trolls or stupid spam like writing "I disagree" without giving any form of explanation, not valid critique.
At least it beats the 4chan way of preventing unliked content (spamming scat porn and gore) in any way.
