I own a keyboard that was more than $50 and has backlighting, but I can type in the dark without it because I can touch type. No need to look down.
I had a $1000 budget but ended up paying $932 for everything. I spent around $60 on the keyboard. I just wanted backlighting, plain white backlighting, and the other ones were either $70+ or had ugly colored backlighting and that ugly "gamer" design with features I didn't care about.
The keyboard is just so happens to be mechanical though, and I've never used one before. Hopefully I like it and it's not too loud. Apparently that's what the blue switches are notorious for.

I spent $30 on an open box rubber dome Microsoft Sidewinder X4. It has 26 key rollover over USB, easy on the eyes red back lighting, and low profile keys that neutralize any down the road rubber dome problems.
No one needs a more expensive keyboard. I am shocked Microsoft doesn't sell anything like it anymore.

The K70 is great because it's just switches placed on a metal frame. There's no ugly plastic casing. It's very easy to keep clean and it looks good. It uses Cherry switches which of course are of cherry quality. I would buy it again definitely.

The only stupid things are those that are a waste of money due to being easily replaced by more powerful shit within 2 or 3 years.
That would be the middle landscape mode gaming and media monitor (BenQ), the GPUs, and potentially the CPU. I'd also say headphones if i was anywhere near autistic in knowledge about them as headphonefags in the headphone threads, but i have the feeling that headphones get generally worse with every year than the past ones.
Everything else is pretty much future proof for the next 7 years i'd wager.
