the overlap of settings is annoying but once you set everything up you shouldn't need to change them much so that's not bad
you can remove almost all of the 'app' shit, and you certainly don't have to use it
performance is certainly better in a lot of areas so that's a bonus
just do it. the sky won't fall down, the world won't end, any spying on you is probably already being done, and will get done if needed no matter what you do. you can't prevent anything bad from happening to you by sticking with windows 7, so just get with the times man.
