Something full of bugs (which is okay and expected). I installed Debian to test it yesterday, without changing or installing a single thing, switched my repos to testing, and after a simple apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade, X broke.

Fuck that, I'm waiting for Ubuntu 16.04. LTS and muh gaymen will work on it.

Much better OOTB than winderp senpai. It includes pretty much all drivers, so it just werks, you don't even need to download them.

No that's the elitist faggotry on your wiki/forums and the subcommunity of ricing scriptkiddies. That and the particular bunch of faggots on /g/ that need to hype pacman through the roof even though it's a piece of shit with obscure command names.

Stable isn't deprecated, mate. People that miss up to date packages should consider backports.

Don't ever use testing or unstable for your production environment. If you miss up to date packages, use backports.

>>

Linux Mint is literally objectively inferior to Ubuntu. You get more delayed updates and worse support, and in return you get... a DE that you could just install on Ubuntu anyway.

t. Mint babby
>>
>>52700378
Not him, but less upstream dependencies, for one. Mint relies on Ubuntu, which relies on Debian. Xubuntu uses the Ubuntu repositories, therefore only relies on Debian. That's just one of the reasons people tend to move to Debian after the Ubuntu or Mint stepping stone.

Like any of this shit matters, a true Linux-running gentlesir can get by just fine on any flavor of Linux.

As long as apt-get works, your faggotry is irrelevant.

What is the purpose of mint?

Why not just install Ubuntu to get all security patches on time and just install your shitty gnome spinoff if you really want it

Indirectly. Linux Mint has its own repositories http://packages.linuxmint.com/

It simply uses Ubuntu as its upstream provider.

Mint on the home desktop.
CentOS (barebones) on the server. My shit runs beautifully even on very old hardware.
Raspbian on the pi.

Winderps 7 at work. Literally the only thing that I think keeps everybody on winderps these days is fucking Visio (which I absolutely must have for my IT job). Nothing in the linux world even comes close.

What's wrong with Iceweasel? It has less bloat, telemetry, and Debian does a great job in patching it. Also http://mozilla.debian.net/

>Cinnamon
Yes, LMDE definitely has more up to date Cinnamon packages, as is to be expected given they're the maintainers of Cinnamon themselves. If you want bleeding edge Cinnamon, I can understand.

>Update manager
I'm not sure I follow. Debian also has an update manager.
