Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

Remember the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview
>around 60% of posters here chat shit - don't make any claims about sites based on "something you read here once"

Yeah it is pretty shit, I'm going to be computer-less for maybe a month. My shitty netbook bit it and I'm a peasant who lives paycheck to paycheck.

So if I understand you, I can just grab the torrents at any point in the future and seed them for about a week to make the HnR go away. That's a load off my mind if it's true, because I thought a HnR was a permanent strike on your account.
>>
>>52696495
Emp was literally infiltrated by a copyright troll who got into a mods account and could see user info. This is why they closed open reg.

This never happened to PTP.

1. Find an obscure genre
2. Find it on youtube
3. Download the .mp3s
4. Upload to what

Dont upload the mp3s as FLACs. I almost lost an account that way (when I was starting out)
>>
>>52697255
fucking private trackers...

I'm beginning to regret getting into this shit. All I want is to get into PTP. But shit it takes too much work and maybe it isn't so bad waiting for SPARKS rips on RARBG a few months later.

>>52697267
What about artist, cover art, etc.? Also I think mp3s downloaded off Youtube are bad transcodes
>>
>>52697245
I've never done this but people say it works and I don't see why it wouldn't:
>find ebook request with large reward
>buy on amazon
>strip drm and upload

>>
>>52697277
That is why the genre is obscure and why you don't upload FLACs (they can easily be checked). If you also upload only MP3s nobody can transcode from you, so (hopefully) nobody downloads your shit.

This method is great if you are using what as a stepping stone

There's a couple of reasons but the biggest one is that our population is just too small for our countries size. >>
>>52698653
given the fact that it could be a Criminal or Civil issue where you live it really depends, in the US i'm ppretty sure it's criminal under DCMA or whatever so you can go to prison and be charged damages, if it's just civil it will only be damages ($10 price of the DVD up to $10000+ or whatever if it is super crazy record/production company)

As noted above, it's super unlikely to be targeted on a private tracker. They mostly gun for idiots on public trackers.
>>
>>52698653
Depends where you are. If you want to be 'safe' though if you upload it by sftp to your seedbox first then upload it it'll be just like any other torrent.

>Can I get into legal trouble for ripping DVD/CD/etc and distributing via torrent? How much?

Yes, but that's very low-risk unless you are part of a release group or leak something that hasn't been published yet.
>>
>>52698705
>They mostly gun for idiots on public trackers.

And they are entirely made up of people who:

1) Are part of a release group.
2) Have uploaded hundreds or thousands of torrents
3) Have a username on every torrent they upload and do it from home.
4) Leak shit before the actual release date.

In other words, if you anonymously upload an arthouse film from the 80's via your seedbox, there is a 0% chance of anything happening to you.

>The Adjustment Bureau [2011] - decibeL / x264 / 1080p / Blu-ray / DTS
Didn't clock that this was Emily Blunt. I was trying to think of things I've seen her in the other day and all. It's a good film all the same. And I think one of the better PKDick adaptions (although I haven't seen Man in the High Castle yet).

Yeah I'm not overly enamoured with it, but (based) Damon, and Blunt are good in it. For me, it plays down the supernatural/scifi angle a bit too much. I might just be a pleb though, because although I recognise Total Recall (old & new) probably aren't actually as good, I still prefer them to The Adjustment Bureau.

I'd like to watch Minority Report soon because I remember hardly anything about it and I'd like to rank it in the pantheon of Dick adaptations.
>>
>>52700120
>(based) Damon
Pretty much the reason it's good desu.
Old Total Recall is the shit. But then again Arny is the basest of based.

Yeah, theatrical cut isn't as good, but I don't think it's AS bad as all that. Although, to be honest, I've forgotten most of the differences apart from the ending.

I find it interesting though, that Ridley's previous film, Alien, is way way better in the theatrical cut. The directors cut is shambles that Ridley did for utterly idiotic reasons. But I suppose that throws light on how he's doing things these days. I don't hold too much hope for these new Alien flicks, even if I'm a little hype.

Hey mate. Yeah, that is pretty much how I understand it too. He was asked to do a fresh cut for a boxset release with some additional footage, but he made some bizarre choices. Like, he basically cut lots of the atmospheric shots of the interior/exterior of the ship, etc. For a film that thrives off it's set design and atmosphere it's just a poor choice. But yeah, it's good to know Ridley reccs the theatrical cut too.

Studio rescanned it and touched it up at 4K on their end then downscaled it for the 1080p release. Looks better than just being sourced from 1080p to start with. GENERALLY. For exceptions see Ghost Busters where they completely fucked the lighting.
