The AB admin Kotoko literally designed a large portion of the tracker backend, that is now being used by facebook for updating all the facebook servers globally, called Chihaya (named after the main character from Chihayafuru).

How do you create screenshot comparisons of two encodes and source if one encode isn't the same resolution (cropped differently)
I know how to make an avs and compare source (source cropped resize.avs) to encode (encodeA.mkv)
and do the interleave function etc. If I put the second encode thats wider and taller in an avs and then resize it to match the others, am I going to be altering it (encodeB) too much for accurate comparison of quality's sake?

I was PU on What.CD. I had a notification filter for my favorite artists' new albums. I would get a little notification window every time one of them would have something new out.
At one point my ratio dipped below 1.0 and I was sent back to Member. Some weeks later I was PU again.
Ever since then I don't get the notification popups. I have the same notification filter, in fact I deleted it and created it again, but nothing. I have to go to the notifications section and personally check for stuff that the filter caught, instead of just being notified by the site.

As the cover states, this album is made up of "musical pictures composed and performed by Ernest Hood." It features recordings of parents talking from the next room over laid over the TV sounds from that room and crickets chirping while a zither lazily plucks away. On other tracks it's the sound a train crossing makes and two teenage boys playing with a can fading out while soft, soothing synths (think C418 from the 70's) come in. There is such detail that you can close your eyes and feel the August heat and see the men hammering away on a roof while a mother stops to chat with another parent. The whole album is so effortless and simple and yet the effect is powerful. It's probably one of the best albums I've ever found in a sharethread.

So for comparison sake, I'd be altering their PAR when upscaling. Taylor and 12k and my favourite ambient musician and label respectively. It's good that you picked up on the album art because the aesthetic of the entire label is fantastic. Worth a dig if you find yourself enjoying Shoals. There's a collaborative album between Taylor Deupree and Marcus Fischer called Twine, that came out of the end of last year. It's composed of analogue tape loops and has a soft, lo-fi feel to it. It's all certainly more ambient than that Ernest Hood bit though. The synth part on that reminds me of Boards of Canada mostly (the combination of guitar is very Bibio, also).

Me and a few other anons were doing an /amb/ient general on /mu/ for a bit, a short while ago. It never really took off for a few reasons. Me and a couple of others were just discussing new 12k releases over and over, whilst others were popping in looking for reccs on the complete opposite end of the ambient genre. Seemed to be difficult to find a group of regulars with a similar taste because ambient as a genre is so broad.
I often find ambient album artwork captivating because it seems to me, more than a lot of other genres, that the artwork often contributes to, or at least compliments, the music. Both the art and the music are often abstract and textural, and the beauty is found in both the detail and the overall atmosphere.
Wood, Winter, Hollow is real /comfy/. There's some nice string sounds in there, and the title really sums up the theme of the album. If you liked Shoals, Marcus Fischer's Monocoastal is a good, similar album.

You need 3,472 BP/hr to get exactly 2.5 million BP per month. Spend the buffer to download poorly seeded remuxes/BD25/50's. They give crazy amounts of bonus points. Also, never, ever stop seeding, as in, don't turn your computer off at night, and keep torrents in your client for as long as possible (preferably never removing them). It's beatless music, generally regarded as ambient but for me it serves a different purpose. Rather than structure a space, and provide atmosphere, Hecker's stuff is very much 'active listening'. It's in your face and there's often melody. I suppose it's very musical ambient, as opposed to drone ambient. I like both, but I suppose I listen to more of the drone-y stuff.
Twine is great. One of my favourite albums from last year. I love Bibio too. Fi has some amazing stand out tracks, but Vignetting The Compost is my favourite of his. It's like the culmination of his purely folk-y sound before he started experimenting with beats and stuff on Ambivalence Avenue. His new single, pic related, makes me excited for his new album soon!
