Don't fucking do it. I fell for it and while my X220 is a decent machine for all the money I put into it, (~600 total), the screen res is just absolute shit. Now if you can find a 1600x900 version or replace the panel of the laptop yourself, then by all means do so. But from the styling and context of your post I don't think you can do those things.
