That's a reductive argument that ignores the actual stance being taken. Of course code doesn't have a political motive. But people and projects do. Reducing the debate down to "code doesn't have politics" is about as silly as dismissing the boycotts of Chick Fil A with "food doesn't have politics"

Boycotting Firefox because you don't want to support SJWs is not much different than boycotting Chick Fil A because you don't want to support homophobia.

I've been using Firefox ever since I stopped using IE which was I don't even know how long ago. From almost the beginning. It has served me faithfully, first I started using it because you couldn't change the history settings in IE, but then I discovered addons and the story goes on.

During this time I've considered Chrome a few times, I've installed it and used it but I've never really felt that it's faster than Firefox. The menus are retarded and it's dependent on a google account login. I don't want google or anyone else to know what exactly I browse, even though it's mostly just /g/. I still feel that selling my internet usage anonymously is wrong. They might say they don't do it, but they are as guilty of it as microshit is with windows 10.

With Firefox you can opt out of bloat features and it won't affect your user experience. You can even take those features and hide them from the menus so it's like they never existed in the first place. Whatever that smiley face thing is and pocket - nah, not for me, fucking dropped. Don't really care for the SJW devs as long as the browser retains it core features and isn't reliant on some kind of an account login.

Firefox just werks. For me it has been stable and reliable, I can customize the look of it to a degree that satisfies me and I don't really know what else I might want from a browser. I guess I'm a little salty now that there's no imgur extension anymore, I used to use that a lot.
>>
>>52632739
Last time I checked Chrome wasn't any more reliant on an account than Firefox was (i.e. syncing), the only real difference was that Google pushes it on you harder
>>
>>52632203
Dude, they used $15,000 OF YOUR DONATIONS to remove the word slave from their code.

Since when? Based on privacy and technology, Chromium, Opera or Midori are the official browsers of /g/. Knowing what we know about the Mozilla Foundation and the direction Firefox is going in, /g/ abandoned the Firefox browser for being utterly incapable to innovate.

Further, if lack of innovation for an application in the technology industry isn't a clear sign of trouble, I don't know what is.

I haven't had problems with 12.17 2bh
The rare page doesn't work(I have Memefox as a secondary browser for that)

A bad point about it though is that because google are dicks you can't use their image search feature in 12.17 so if you use that frequently then I don't recommend it

If you mean the start page ads, no info is getting sent to advertisers, no tracking is being done. And it's open source and you can confirm this.

Not implying that makes it okay, though. Firefox is now literally adware.

What's the other feature?

Mine served a couple ads.
I'm not a fan, but I can see why they did it. Microsoft has office and other software packages, Google has the advertisement and data they sell to advertisers, Mozilla has.... either ads or wikipedia like donation drives as their only possible income.
I'm not a fan of it and would add it to the growing list of complaints I have with the browser, but I can see their reasoning.

Not everybody can code. There is a place in society for people who whine and come up with ideas (outside of work hours) for qualified workers to carry out.
>>
>>52642854
None, because I'm a massive faggot who just did a blank install and cleared them out along with the other get started tabs. I added my usual addon suite and that stopped that it seems. I will see if I can get it to repeat it and get a screenshot for you.
>>
>>52642800
And the main problem with ads, i.e. creepy tracking malware serving bullshit, doesn't happen with these.

No data gets sent back to the advertisers.

No tracking.

The ads are directly vetted, so no random third parties shitting it up with malware and porn.

>Mozilla only source of income
In 2006, the Mozilla Foundation received US$66.8 million in revenues, of which US$61.5 million is attributed to "search royalties" from Google.[11]

From 2004 to 2014, the foundation had a deal with Google to make Google Search the default in the Firefox browser search bar and hence send it search referrals; a Firefox themed Google search site was also made the default home page of Firefox. The original contract expired in November 2006. However, Google renewed the contract until November 2008 and again through 2011.[12] On December 20, 2011, Mozilla announced that the contract was once again renewed for at least three years to November 2014, at three times the amount previously paid, or nearly US$300 million annually.[13][14] Approximately 90% of Mozilla’s royalties revenue for 2014 was derived from this contract.[15]

In November 2014, Mozilla signed a five-year partnership with Yahoo!, making Yahoo! Search the default search experience for Firefox in North America effective December 2014, while it will be Yandex in Russia and Baidu in China.[8] However, it is also to be noted that Yahoo! Search is merely a front-end to Microsoft's search engine Bing, and Microsoft takes a 12% cut of all revenue from the search business per the deal.[16] Due to Mozilla's financial release timetables, the results of the Yahoo! contract will not be public until November 2016

Yeah, I attempted to force some by opening blocks of bookmarks and clicking all links, and no new ads showed after I cleared out sites. It may look for more sites to be visited enough to appear in the panel and then serve ads, or closing them may keep them away for a certain amount of time.
My complaints pretty much revolve around how at least on my computer, firefox seems to be getting slower with each update. And chrome, god, the chrome issues I've been having. Fuck that browser.

What OS are you using?

Ive run 64 bit on windows 7, 10, and linux all with 0 issues. Well thats not true. There was actually one issue on windows 10 where I had to delete the FF user profile and reinstall because google got stuck refreshing every time you performed a search. But other that that, nothing.

I wanted to use FF last month, but for some reason it gave me the "Not responding" lag/freeze issue when put under heavy load. I don't have any problems with Chrome though. Is it because my system is old and it has little memory to work with and thus it cripples it?
>>
FF44 broke the Personas plugin for me

I'm still using my custom persona but when I click the addon button, nothing happens anymore...
>>
>>52647383
Odd. My situation is pretty much the opposite. Firefox runs fine, but Chrome gobbles all the memory it can until the system starts swapping.
