Is it worth getting a fancy router if your connection is only 100mbps download and 40mbps upload?
>>
>>52631419
I use a RT-N18U, which is basically the same thing just with no AC wifi and one third the price. It's perfect for me since it can route gigabit connections, and I use wired internet because I want a stable and fast connection.

Asus AC68U. Very happy with it, handles my 1Gbps connection quite well and last time I restarted it (for a network issue that turned out to be caused by a driver, not the router), it had 6+ months of uptime and always worked flawlessly.

hello pfsense gods i have a question

how does the shit work like im on an ADSL connection so does the ADSL line go into the pfsense box or does it just bypass the router and come in through ethernet? cheers
>>
>>52634037
Yeah it was a great campaign but 2 faction multiplayer doesn't carry much weight to it compared to kane's wrath or zero hour
>>
>>52634015

Because Atom's iGPU blows and limits its encryption performance, so it would suck for VPNs and the like. Athlon has the right features as a platform for what I want but the power inefficiency of that process node means it draws too much juice for what it does.

>>52634071
The lack of diversity isn't really too much of an issue when half of the units do literally exactly the same stuff anyway.

Not as if the GDI had any late game units worth using anyway. Save for maybe the Mammoth Tank.

NOD atleast had the Devils Tongue and Stealth Gens.
>>
>>52634089
What are you doing that needs that kind of encryption?

If you're in an apartment and have devices that can use AC then yes, because 2.4GHz is likely completely fucked from all your neighbors

If you transfer decent sized files between your computers on a semi-regular basis then yes.

If not, then probably not

Still using my RT-N16 with ASUS Merlin fork firmware. Have my FIOS router in bridge mode so i don't have to deal with the tiny NAT table in my FIOS router. 75/75 service but get 85/90.

Holding up pretty good unless you start using QoS, then the router shits itself.

If your modem doubles as a router, that's a little redundant, eh? I suppose you can disable its routing functions if you really wanted to use pfsense instead. Configure "direct internet connection" mode, or whatever it's called.
>>
>>52631419

>>52634577

nah its just a generic Sky router so im looking to replace it with a pfsense box or something similar
>>
>>52628810
How badly would signal become affected if it set it up like that? I am needing a new router, money is no object and I use a single computer to hold all the media of the house so I am constantly streaming shit.
>>
I've heard good things about the Ubiquiti UniFi products. Anyone here using it?

I've got to service a 3000sqft space but the setup has to be in one corner of it, which makes everything shitty.

fuck wifi.
>>
>>52635045

Depends on the surface. Dipole antennae radiate in a toroid (donut) shape so as pictured, the available radiation would be compressed to a band along the ground.
