what router do you use?
pfsense
>>52628810
apple® airport™ express™
but I don't use it as a router, I use it as an access point

I have one at my place and 2 at my parents (big house with steel beams)
Best router I've owned
>I use the USB plugs so I can ftp/lan to my prons
>>52631695
you are going places...
>>52628835
This.
I picked up this thing for like $50. Keep it in a Compaq rack in my basement. Electricity is dirt cheap where I live too
>>52631774
Forget retro styled cars, we retro styled routers nao
Asus AC68-U
I have a D-Link DIR-615 rC1 flashed with DD-WRT right now. Do I still have to jump on through flaming hoops to flash OpenWRT on it?

Recently have this after the wireless on my nearly 10 year old WRT-54G died.
>>52628810
Is it worth getting a fancy router if your connection is only 100mbps download and 40mbps upload?
>>52631419
I use a RT-N18U, which is basically the same thing just with no AC wifi and one third the price. It's perfect for me since it can route gigabit connections, and I use wired internet because I want a stable and fast connection.
Archer c7. 55 MB/s lan wifi to intel 7260 in the laptop.

Apple Airport Extreme AC
Anything else is generic Chinese made hardware in a fancy case, which will need to be restarted every month when your Internet inexplicably stops working.
>>52632880
FUCK YOU
THAT GAME DOESN'T EXIST
>>52632880
LOL
>>52632903
It was pretty good.
Nowhere near TibSun but enjoyable nevertheless. You're probably thinking of the next one.
You know the one.
can recommend this. cheap and reliable. theres a version without AC thats even cheaper
>>52632991
What's up with all these polygonal cases from Asus/TPlink? Just for looks?
>>52633001
Some factory in China had overstock of that material.
>>52633001
yes, purely cosmetic
>>52632988
It's much better than tiberian sun.. tiberian sun had only 2 factions
>>52632690
Holy shit I'm so mad 10/10
>>52632690
Yes the AC WiFi will definitely be faster for any 5GHz devices
Some MikroTik, looks kinda like picrelated, not sure what model it is though.
Routers are utter shit.
Use a PC as a router.

WTF am i looking at?
>>52628835
This
>Update out
Great now I have to update, there goes my month and a half of uptime into the toilet.
>>52628810
Asus AC68U. Very happy with it, handles my 1Gbps connection quite well and last time I restarted it (for a network issue that turned out to be caused by a driver, not the router), it had 6+ months of uptime and always worked flawlessly.
I need a wireless ac router so I can stream games from my pc to my phone with trinus vr. What's the best price to performance ac router that's fast as fuck? At least 1 gigabit per second pl0x

TP-LINK Archer C5.
>>52628835 is what I want to do next once someone combines low-power x86 SoC form factor with 5+ Intel NICs at a <$200 price point.
>>52633971
It's funny people pretend red alert or tib sun were superior to generals and kanes wrath
>>52633999
Why not get one of those $100 Chinese Atom machines and hook up a switch to it?
>>52633986
this one is pretty good
>>52628810
Who /tplink/ masterrace here?
>>52633084
Tiberian Sun was pretty fun m8.
hello pfsense gods i have a question
how does the shit work like im on an ADSL connection so does the ADSL line go into the pfsense box or does it just bypass the router and come in through ethernet? cheers
>>52634037
Yeah it was a great campaign but 2 faction multiplayer doesn't carry much weight to it compared to kane's wrath or zero hour
>>52634015
Because Atom's iGPU blows and limits its encryption performance, so it would suck for VPNs and the like. Athlon has the right features as a platform for what I want but the power inefficiency of that process node means it draws too much juice for what it does.
Egderouter pro with 2x cisco switch from work :)
>>52634071
The lack of diversity isn't really too much of an issue when half of the units do literally exactly the same stuff anyway.
Not as if the GDI had any late game units worth using anyway. Save for maybe the Mammoth Tank.
NOD atleast had the Devils Tongue and Stealth Gens.
>>52634089
What are you doing that needs that kind of encryption?
Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite
>>52632690
If you're in an apartment and have devices that can use AC then yes, because 2.4GHz is likely completely fucked from all your neighbors
If you transfer decent sized files between your computers on a semi-regular basis then yes.
If not, then probably not
>>52631419
my nigga
>>52634151
I don't understand what you're saying
Are you implying factions in kane's wrath are similar?
Or in tiberian sun?
Still using my RT-N16 with ASUS Merlin fork firmware. Have my FIOS router in bridge mode so i don't have to deal with the tiny NAT table in my FIOS router. 75/75 service but get 85/90.
Holding up pretty good unless you start using QoS, then the router shits itself.
>>52634256
Tiberian Sun.
Should have stated that really.
>>52628810
mikrotik
>>52634186
>. . . VPNs and the like.
>>52634378
No I mean are you running a VPN for people from your basement?
>>52634395
I would like to use it to connect to an outside VPN continuously as well as run a local VPN server.
>>52634034
Seeing that thing, what was the name of that small WiFi/3G/router-thingy TP-Link made a few years ago?
>>52634056

If your modem doubles as a router, that's a little redundant, eh? I suppose you can disable its routing functions if you really wanted to use pfsense instead. Configure "direct internet connection" mode, or whatever it's called.
>>52631419
Have the same one, works fantastic.
>>52634577
nah its just a generic Sky router so im looking to replace it with a pfsense box or something similar
>>52628810
How badly would signal become affected if it set it up like that? I am needing a new router, money is no object and I use a single computer to hold all the media of the house so I am constantly streaming shit.
I've heard good things about the Ubiquiti UniFi products. Anyone here using it?
I've got to service a 3000sqft space but the setup has to be in one corner of it, which makes everything shitty.
fuck wifi.
>>52635045
Depends on the surface. Dipole antennae radiate in a toroid (donut) shape so as pictured, the available radiation would be compressed to a band along the ground.
What's a cheap router that can run custom firmware? Any recommendations?
