i bought windows 10 for $110 and it came with candy crush plus some other bullshit. i just uninstalled all of it immediately and that was it. still not a good sign of things to come.

most windows store apps are written with javascrpt/typescript and are very lightweight.
part of microsofts store shindig is predownloading apps that you might like based on what you do while browsing the internet or on what apps you run.
for example if you have steam installed or visit sites like youtube to look at letsplays they will predownload games to your machine.
you can painstakingly try to disable it but this is a core functionality and is not tied to specific updates or privacy settings.

For the occasion when something isn't already pinned, ever since vista, I've been in the habit of just tapping the windows key, typing part of the program name, and hitting enter.
