Any reviews of redmi note 3 pro yet?
>>
I have a one plus one but my camera is fucked up, so I'm looking for a new phone. I prefer a 5.5 inch screen and a very good camera. I was thinking about getting an iphone 6s, but I'm iffy about going to iOS and losing the ability to customize my phone. What should I get?
>>
>>52567687
G4
>>
thinking about getting a 6P -- so is the build quality shit or not? I 'm not gonna spend 600 dollars on a phone that bends/cracks randomly.
>>
>>52568051
it doesn't bend/crack randomly, the bend/crack meme is being pushed by iphone fags because the 5s or 6 bent in a few people's front pocket

these "bend tests" they do on youtubers nowadays is purely for enjoyment.. do you see any instance where you'll need to use every ounce of your strength to bend your phone?

NEVER put ANY phone in your back pocket, just fyi
>>
What service provider should I go with? I've never had one before.
>>
>>52568051
Yes. Enjoy your bent, uneven speakered, pink hue phone with terribly battery life laggy camera interface.
>>
>>52567849
Specs seem good, but it's kind of ugly. Will consider it though
>>
Any experience with playing music off SD cards? Does it work fine?
>>
>>52568279

if you use VLC it will take a decade to load them
>>
>>52568250
The v10 is a g4 on steroids, and the build is better. I'm happy with mine.
>>
>>52568426
ah my hands are tiny, so big phones are a no go for me

I think I'll wait for the g5, it seems that it's coming out soon
>>
My S4 has crapped out on my

I'm looking to upgrade to something with near stock android and not crazy expensive.

Is the Moto X worth the jump or should i look elsewhere
>>
>>52568279
Yes, it works fine. microSD and SD cards are magnitudes faster than you need for music, even on the relatively low end models.
>>
I just got a droid turbo (i am europoor). Is this phone as good as they say even nowadays?
>>
>>52568742
It's still useful enough, sure.

I think it had a shit camera and no microSD, but it's surely still fast enough for any apps you're likely to use.
>>
Nexus 6p or Note 5?
>>
>>52568426
I came from a note 3 to a v10. Other than the camera, can't tell much of a difference in performance. A little, but not much. The sd slot and removable battery is the only thing that kept me from the note 5

Oneplus One or X.
>>
>>52569769
The basic moto x will suit ok ?

Not the pure or style or any of the other line.

Honestly its more of a stop gap untill something comes out that i really love the look of
>>
>>52568051
Best phone available tight now imo, but there are some issues with the build quality you should be aware of.
Many people have had the phone bend for them, the glass on the back randomly shatter, and the sides of the phone peel apart.

No, I'm not joking. Google any of those problems and you will find people complaining about them. That being said, it seems to be a very small amount of users with bad luck. Other than the questionable build quality it has very nice specs and software/aftermarket dev support.
>>
what's the consensus on chinkphones? I've been thinking of importing one to the UK, anyone had any experiences with that?
>>
Does anyone here have a Nexus 6P? I'm thinking of upgrading from a G2, how does a 5.7 inch screen feel compared to something like a 5.2 inch screen?
>>
>>52570230
had an s6, moved up to a 6p. it's noticeably bigger, but i was used to the g3 i had before the s6, so it wasn't too much of a step up. play around with a note 4/5 for a while, cause the sizing is about the same as the nexus.
>>
>>52570230
I upgraded to a moto x pure (5.7 in) from a droid razr m (4.3 in).

There was a huge difference for me initially, but after a couple of days it felt normal. It'll probably be an even easier transition for you.

Best place to buy an iPhone 5S that's in excellent condition online? Would you guys recommend getting a refurbished one? I'm pretty skeptical and want something reliable.

>>
>>52571897
I just said the other one is too expensive. I'm looking for something that does the bare minimum and maybe has a good camera
>>
>>52571917
Then either get a new moto g or the OPX.

There are a bunch of decent chinkphones but I'm not familiar with them so I can't recommend any.
>>
>>52571897
But is its camera better than the G4's?
>>
>>52571948
If you really care about the camera so much then get a windows phone.

The g4 will probably have a better camera than the OPX and the new moto g since its in a completely different price range, but those phones should have acceptable cameras as well.
>>
>>52571968
>a windows phone
I like having apps thanks lol
>>
>>52569853
If stopgap, the Moto G is more like what you need. Cheaper, microsd, get the 2 GB RAM/16 GB ROM version.
>>
>>52570230
My wife has one. I have an iPhone 6, and while it's definitely bigger, it doesn't seem unwieldy. Build quality is great (don't bend it, good advice for any phone). Camera is excellent. Best Android device available right now? I think so.
>>
>>52571804
>>52571804
Swappa. Don't bother with refurbished unless you get a viable 3rd party warranty like SquareTrade. Swappa is the place to get a 5S right now...but if you can wait until March even better.

Has anyone here with a Z5 (Premium/Compact) flashed the official AOSP rom onto their phone?

Are updates done the same way as on my Nexus 5? Or would I have to reflash every single time I want to update Marshmallow?

I used to have a Nexus 5 and loved the snappiness of it. Upgraded to a Z5 Compact and love everything about it, but I miss the snappiness of my Nexus 5. I feel like the OS is to blame, so I assume that flashing it with AOSP will make it as snappy (if not more snappy) than my Nexus 5.

Advice: don't buy a "smart" phone AKA voluntary government and corporate surveillance tracker
>>
Just smashed up my S3 and looking for a new phone, contemplated the G4 but it seems a bit expensive considering I'd never use the camera and don't really need the 1440p. The main features I need are microSD support, at least 1080p, not a huge size, and an ability to root would be nice too. I'm not too bothered with the price but I'd like to aim for somewhere around £250.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
>>
>>52576278
You realise dumbphones are easily trackable as well right? Simply using a phone at all is suicide for this sort of thing.

The only way to do it is removing the battery when not in use and never using it in the same place/times as another phone.

Want either note 5 or v10. Leaning toward v10

I'd wait for the S7, it's a big jump forward from the S6. It'll probably cost 600 minimum at launch.

Nigga don't be making stupid choices. 6s ain't about the life withcu? If I were you I'd be waiting them jailbreak and have the most optimize piece of tech on my hand. Granted it's your money so if you want to change that hard then go note 5. V10 is about function with the added bonus of damn good camera. Form or function? You choose.
>>
>>52579910
I'd pick the Note 5. Way better processor and screen, and the pen features are unmatchable. Cameras about equal. TouchWiz sucks, yes, but you can at least make it look like AOSP with the dedicated theme. LG's UI sucks balls as well, and the small meme screen is useless.

Questions for anyone with the Moto X Pure: I'm moving from iPhone 6 to this (not abandoning iOS, my iPad Air 2 will remain at my side). Decided against the latest Nexuses (don't like Huwaei, like the 5X except for the storage options). Since there is microsd support, the base model of 16 GB should be fine, no? How much out of the box space do you have? I don't care about moto maker customizations, am I missing out on anything by buying from a local shop instead of going custom (don't care about accents or back color, I'll be putting a case on it).
>>
I was thinking of getting a Huawei P8, but I learned it's CPU has shit performance due to idiots using A53 instead of A57. It also has a small battery. How long does it ;last on that?
Ignoring performance and battery, it seems like a decent phone.

>>
>>52582315
You might miss out on a discount or something buying local, but other than that you'll be fine. It's a nice phone. The vibration motor on mine is noisy as shit since I accidentally knocked it against a desk, but that was my fault. Still, you should be careful with it, even with a case.

You're really the only person that knows whether 16GB is fine for you.
>>
>>52582853
lol what makes you think that?
>>
>>52582315
be aware that with marshmallow, you have the option of combining the internal memory and external micro sd card as one - so the amount of the internal storage does not matter.

the only caveat is that the card will be 'stuck' to your phone - removing it will mess up your apps.

I suppose MM is smart enough to keep apps that have to be on the main ROM there and move everything else accordingly. I think I'll go 16 and pick up a 64 GB card; I mainly need the extra space for music and media, and I'm pretty sure Moto's camera has the option to save to SD automatically (unless that's gone in MM).

6P bending is literally a meme

It took a ripped guy all of his strength to bend the phone. If you're not a downs syndrome bodybuilder you won't bend your phone like that. Any phone will bend if you put enough force into it.

>>52583133
You are at the mercy of Sprint to unlock your phone. This is what you get for buying a phone from a carrier. Sometimes Sprint phones wont even include a GSM radio, so you might still be out of luck even if Sprint allows you to unlock it. You'd likely be okay though.

It is possible that your phone just includes a CDMAids radio, but it's probably more likely that it has the GSM radio included. So it should work. Again this is only theoretical, since it is a tossup whether Sprint will even unlock your phone.

According to the specs it looks like it supports the UMTS frequencies used by AT&T, so you should be okay.

Specs don't really matter unless you buy a phone with tons of OEM bloat. A Samsung phone with Touchwiz will still feel sluggish and struggle with multitasking with the fastest SoC in the world, a Nexus device will feel fast even with a modest processor. Many people are still using the Nexus 4 and 5 to this day.
>>
>>52583836

As far as I know, there's no 64bit exclusive software.

64bit matters mostly when you have more than 3GB ram
>>
>>52583993
all android software is 32-bit. 64-bit will come, but you need at least 4gb ram to take advantage of it.

i've heard mixed views on mediatek. try and get a snapdragon 615 cpu if you can. if not the 801/808.

Samsung & apple - expensive but better than qualcomm cpus.

mainly it's if you want encryption. i haven't noticed any other real-world benefits.
>>
>>52584121
How about the future?
>>
>>52584118
No it certainly is real.
It's the reason 808 is a thing at all. 810 has 4 big cores and 4 LITTLE cores, and 808 has 2 big and 4 LITTLE.
That should be a huge difference, but it isn't because 810 throttles a lot because of heat. An 808 was almost as fast as a 810 at launch. The first 810 phones were really bad.
Newer phones with 810 have better heatsinks and software has been update, so these days 810 is okay.
>>
>>52584276
How do I know which 810 does a phone have? GSMArena only lists cpu name.
>>
>>52584273

I'm looking for a developer phone to use at work and as a daily driver. I have manlet hands and don't want a large phone.

The nexus 5x seems like a no brainer, but I'm more tempted by the Oneplus X because of its size, price, and the look of it. Does the oneplus have Marshmallow yet? How is the camera? Any issues I should be aware of?

My phone only has 16gb capacity and I want to download a 25gb torrent on it and then pass it to my computer.

Is it possible in any way shape or form to maybe divide the 25gb torrent into two parts of 12.5gb and download one, pass it to the computer, download the other part, pass it to the computer, and then join the two parts?

Looking for the cheapest phone possible that's just as good or at least a bit better than this fucking garbage
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_one_p500-3516.php
that I had since 2011.

I literally only use it for calling someone and viewing pictures (I save Google Maps screens there for viewing, since I can't afford any Internet provider for my phone). The only thing that matters to me is stability and reliability. The old dogshit phone I have keeps dying when I dare turn the screen off (not the phone off, that would be a whole other apocalypse) and I can't access the images half the time because of the "Gallery" software malfunctioning.

It's not even the bloatware that is the main cause of all the performance problems. Sure, it causes some of the performance deficiencies. But the main cause is touchwiz's handling of memory.

I use a stock debloated tw rom with tweaks to build.prop to keep many apps in memory. However, a side effect to this is that with every app opened, the interface becomes more sluggish. With 5 or fewer apps open, it performs comparable to cm.

What's so bad about LG's UX? I've been using it for some time, and I don't get the complaints. It's a lot lighter than TouchWiz or Sense. It's closer to stock than both of them. Is there something I'm missing?
>>
>>52595343
It doesn't have as many options as sammy that's my only complaint. and ram management seems kinda bad.
>>
>>52595401
How so, if you don't mind me asking? In regards to the RAM management. From what I've seen, Samsung's is worse.

Need your advice /g/.
Currently I owe Nexus 6 but now I need a smaller phone now so I decided to change it. What should I get to be happy about it? I can change it to iPhone 5s 16GB or Xperia z3 compact. I'm not really sure what to choose. My priorities are battery life, smooth interface and reliability.
>>
Why is LG G4 considered high end device, but Xiaomi Mi4c is top low end/mid end device when they use same HW and MIUI is superior to any other android UI.
>>
>>52595513
>iPhone 5s 16GB or Xperia z3
Those are both kinda downgrades, but 5s is going to be slow and z3 is not gonna get any updates.
z3 is pretty reliable, has good battery etc.
>>
>>52595624
It's about the overall experience not just the SoC. The g4 has much better camera, better screen, but most of all better support from LG and third parties. MIUI is generally considered to be bad.

That said no one would call Mi4c low end, maybe someone would call it mid end but I would call it high end/flagship killer but not a real flagship like the g4 is.
>>
How is the battery life on the G4?
Will be getting it on Verizon so I'll be using 4G for a good amount of the day.
>>
>>52595823
Pretty good, but for a hard user like me almost no phone without extended batteries is enough. So I got a zerolemon.

How much do you plan to use it?
>>
>>52595513
z3 compact owner here. battery life is great, no hardware issues so far. the os is mostly stock. you can disable most of sony's stuff. some of it is good, like track id (ad-free shazam/soundhound) and screen mirroring. it's getting marshmallow - the beta has closed, but you can still get it on xda.

I'm thinking of getting a new smartphone

I currently have an ond potato one (Galaxy Ace i) and I am basically looking for a phone that would last me for another 5 years. I don't really care for specs but for customability and long term support (updates and so on)

It's a Nexus phone the way to go? What does /gee/ suggests?

What's so great about having a removable battery? Seems like the non removable are all cheaper always.
>>
>>52598358
Being able to swap it out and/or have a bigger battery is so much more convinient than having a battery bank.
>>
>>52597732
I once wanted that too, but I decided to bite the bullet and get one with touchscreen only. I decided I'll buy a bluetooth keyboard for it, one hat attaches to the body. If not specifically for my model, I would adapt it.

If you don't care about specs, you could get Jolla plus OTK keyboard for it.

Third options are old (but still more modern than the N900) android phones.
