Umm no, do not tell Verizon that your personal internet connection is actually being used by a business.

Just stop torrenting in the clear. Use a vpn, use your neighbors wifi, use usenet, whatever. There are a million ways.
>>
>>52547399
I notice this only happens when you download/torrent movies/shows. Not once did i ever get a notice when i downloaded programs/games/other stuff that isn't movies/shows.

Don't acknowledge it, and stop downloading hotbeds for copyright trolls.

No matter how you do it, public and private torrent sources carry risk and if you're unwilling to accept that risk then you should just stop. It doesn't matter if you use a VPN, or set up a seedbox -- no one wants to take the blame for your actions.

Now if you're not sharing these files on a mass scale you are at significantly less risk to be pulled into some sort of legal action. Some of these copyright trolls will ask for some kind of pre-settlement fine to be paid in exchange for dropping the legal action. It's just extortion, and it won't stop them from targeting you for more. It's best just to not repeat your mistakes and ignore them unless you have received so many notices that you have substantiated belief you might be made an example of.

i work for an ISP and know this process well.

what happens is generally nothing. one or two (or hell, even 5) aren't going to attract attention. ISPs are required to send out these notices on behalf of copyright claims. 95% of the time they are meaningless. however, if you do continue to do it, you will attract attention and likely get your account suspended. i've seen many of these. ISPs have entire departments dedicated to this stuff.

if it gets bad enough they'll suspend your account without warning and force you to call in to get it lifted. you'll more than likely have to speak to their DMCA department first as there is a note on the account stating you are suspended due to DMCA, and only after you have spoken to the DMCA department will they lift it.

if you continue doing it after that you risk having lawsuits brought up against you but it normally does not get this far..
>>
>>52551550

you can get tagged for anything. it doesn't matter the content.

If I set my client to download at 50MB/s and upload at 10kbs, and set it to stop seeding the file as soon as it is downloaded, no-one can ever nab me for anything because I never uploaded the full file to anyone, right?
>>
>not setting your encryption to "forced" in your torrent program

Why the fuck would you torrent without encrypting what you send?
>>
>>52551906

even if you do not acknowledge it, the records of your copyright infringements are kept on your account. any rep you call into will be able to see exactly what you download if it is DMCA related. (not all downloads, of course, but only the ones that have been brought to the attention of the ISP).

But you only get nabbed for distributing content.
Which means distributing a full file.

Noone has ever been nabbed for uploading 10% of a file. Ever.
>>
>>52552006

>>52552062
They don't give a damn if you downloaded it actually. Who knows, maybe you've got a legal copy.

C-can my ISP tell what kind of sick porn I browse in sadpanda?
>>
>>52552062

generally they only get people who distribute it a lot. even then, there is no guarantee the file you are downloading/uploading is even being tracked. most ISPs don't give a shit about this stuff - they only do it because they are required by law to.

OP use a free seedbox for now, then go learn about VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and later get a subscription to PIA (Private Internet Access), which is one of the leading VPN providers and probably the cheapest you can find, you can ask in >>>/g/ptg for more providers and advice.

Get vpn or seedbox. VPn are more just pay to pirate. They handle for watching any regional block online services, or dodging ipbans.
>>
>>52552062
This.

A fairly good solution is to use private trackers, or just to avoid torrents - there's still a thriving community on Usenet/other newsgroups.

You can also use a VPN, or an offshore seedbox.

There's a lot of packet analysis, so even when using a seedbox, try to make sure you split the file before sending it over.

With the right lists peerblock is effective, at least within the UK. Many of the good lists are not public though.

This, don't respond, it's considered an admission of guilt in most places.

Also no you shouldn't stop torrenting. If anything move to private trackers or get a VPN. You could also use services like Torrent to DDL, TorX or Bit DL.
>>
>>52552765

Oh gosh, it's Family Guy. My sides are in the stratosphere.

Just fuck OP, I bet it's the latest episode and all. Stream it. Find a non-honeypot IRC and XDCC it.
>>
>>52552178
Because no one buys porn anymore. They took a big hit after streaming sites made it easier for anyone to distribute it and make their own. Also>>52552205. They don't have as many options as the music and movie industries do for distribution.

When was the last time that you heard of anyone paying for porn?
