The logic is to put the more useful information first.

When someone asks you the date, he probably mean the day, rarely the month, even more rarely the year.

Not a single person in American history has ever used that format. Ever.
>>

Amerifats actually use MM-DD-YY, which is actually the most natural way to answer that question (January 21st 2016), but the stupidest to represent in text.

YYYY-MM-DD is the international standard (ISO 8601) for date and time related data exchange.
It has very little to do with USA and it's obese inhabitants, since amerifaggots use MM-DD-YYYY

How exactly? Nobody communicates dates as "the 21st of January" in the English language outside of period dramas.

The proper way of formatting a date in text is YYYY-MM-DD, it's unambiguous and ascends in order. Month Day Year, however, is better for verbal communication.

The Europoor standard isn't good for either.
>>
>>52547263
No if someone ask me the date, I would say it's the 21st.
Assuming people I talk to haven't recently woken from a coma, they would know the month we are in, as well as the year.
If I have to write something to myself, I rather use my own notation which is year, week, day of week.
Today would be 16034.
It is easier for me as the day of the week is more important when making an arrangement than how far into january we are.
>>
>>52547448
>If I have to write something to myself, I rather use my own notation which is year, week, day of week.
>Today would be 16034.
Do you also use Stardates ?
>>
>>52547448
>>52547497
Joke aside, I think it's a great way and I might go about using it myself.
Except I might do 1603.4
>>
>>52547497
stardates have been changed so much, I don't think they actually mean anything.
It was my inspiration though, having a small number that is easy to understand as a complete date is nice.
When I started using the notation I was payed biweekly so any odd thursday would be a payday and finding a time to hang our with friends would always be on a weekend, so that made more sense for me.
>>52547561
I used to have it displayed on my built in clock but couldn't find the setting to do this when I updated to plasma 5...

I have to use this format in the company I work. When I get invited to a meeting it pops up in my calendar as "... KW4 Thursday 2016 16:45"

Where KW stands for the calendar week 4.

Why is it that whenever I see a riced Linux desktop, someone always has 3 or 4 panels open:

1) A terminal session compiling or installing software.

2) htop

3) Basic test code

4) (optional) an IRC client.

Like do people who rice their Linux desktops ever do actual work?
