ITT software personalities who seem good on the surface, but are actually incredibly harmful

This fat fuck may have had his heart in the right place, but he's the reason why open source is such a mess today. Imagine if we were using BSD instead of Linux, clang instead of gcc, and the BSD license instead of that mockery of freedom known as the GPL. Everything would indeed, just werk. But instead we're stuck with... well, just look at the state of Linux today.

It's fine

Linux somehow manages to be worse in 2016 than it was in 2010. How? We'll never know. But that's Linux for you.

How?

Prajeet my son, you are not making any sense.
>>52541058
Apparently we'll never know. But it's worse anyway. Prajeet for you

Yes, yes goyim. Use and develop BSD licensed software, so we can use your work in our proprietary software, sell them for a fortune, and give you back nothing.

- There weren't nearly as many problems with graphics cards five years ago
- Window managers and desktop environments weren't trying to look like smartphones
- systemd

All in all, Linux was a smaller, more modular, and more manageable operating system.

But it has always been fundamentally flawed by design. BSD is just more sensible from the ground-up.

What is the picture all about? Stallman converted to sihkism (sihks are the only people in the world that tie their turban like that) with a bomb?

You should have put his hair into the turban in your photoshop. The reason that they always wear turbans is because they are forbidden in their religion to cut their hair so the turban is supposed to keep everything in place.

Nice one prajeet

Congrats, you've discovered that big, tightly integrated bundles that try to do everything at once are all piles of shit.
>>
>>52541299
Apart from that isn't the problem, Windows and OSX are incredibly tightly integrated bundles of shit but I've never had to whip out cmd.exe to get my fucking soundcard working.
>>
>>52541035
Actually it's better than ever.
>>
>>52541348
There are actually a few problems. The tendency towards tightly integrated do-everything kludgepiles (KDE, Gnome, systemd) is one of them. There's also Red Hat's ongoing sabotage and power plays. And the fashionable smartphone trend that everyone wants in on. And last but not least, the increasing blobs of firmware in hardware to the point of a second hidden OS, and in particular the extreme mostly-closed complexity of graphics cards.
>>
>>52541420
Exactly.
Why even bother calling it a free OS at this point?
It's a Red Hat/NSA fucktoy.

You obviously have a proclivity to being bent over backwards and thoroughly violated.

Yours is a very interesting post.

It has a good point, but at the same time it is bait.

A half-truth scientifically engineered to get replies.

What do you mean? Back then to get a performing video card you had to buy nvidia, just like now. And Intel's atoms had no linux driver then.

What's gotten worse?

>le bait
you forgot to post the reddit fish alongside it as well

Hint: not everybody who disagrees with you is secretly trying to get your goat
