Audio equipment works like wine. a $20 bottle of wine is pretty noticeably better than a $3 bottle of wine. But a $250 bottle of wine isn't really better than a $20 bottle, though people will happily fool themselves into thinking it is because it was more expensive.
I have 300 dollar headphones, and the difference between them and my previous pair of 60 dollar headphones is noticeable, but not profound.
