A decent enterprise company finally decided to ditch their terrible consumer division. Sucks to be you if you've ever had to use an HP product that didn't start with a Z.

good fucking taste, when hp was making quality hardware

everything in the last 15-18 years is total shit
>>
>>52532660
Yes man. That's a fucking calculator. That's sad the screen is damaged (you can see it on the picture).

That thing would cost $300 without the scratch on the screens. It's in perfect condition (except the screen).
>>
>>52532630
I meant laptops when i said devices that are broken by default.
No idea about tablets.
>>
>>52532682
The HP I like to remember = quality test equipment, calculators and other parts.

Fun fact: the Avago mouse sensors that everyone loves, the company was HP's optoelectronics division.

HP died when they split the original company off, forming Agilent. IMHO the HP name should have gone with the original company, and not the computer part.
>>
>>52532737
Yes. HP calculators are the best (no they come equal first with TI). But HP computers are the worst.

They use the ink cartridge business as a bank to acquire failed companies their board members have invested VC money in.

Look at the board members.

They're all VC people.

Look at the companies HP acquired.

They're all washed up start-ups.

I've got a HP Probook from like 2013 (First generation 450) and it's.... OK

The trackpad just died about a year ago (not much of a problem, since I never used it) and it likes to heat up (idles at about 50-60c)

but other than that, it's fine
>>
>>52527522
;_;
>>
>>52532630
I have a HP Stream 7. Display is really good, which is surprising for the price, touch screen is good, audio sounds fine, but there's a hardware problem most of them have where there might be a buzzing sound (which gets mostly fixed by a BIOS update).

There is a catch though. Keeping audio unmuted will drain your battery in standby, and it will still drain a decent amount even in use while unmuted. Also, the biggest issue is that you will run out of battery in 4 hours with 25% brightness (2 hours if you're using something like Chrome instead of Edge/IE).

I wasn't really happy with the battery life, as I want a tablet to last more than 4, maybe 5 hours. I got a Surface 2 (the RT version) about 3 weeks after I got the Stream 7 and the battery life is good. I'm satisfied with it.

This

HP's just at shit at consumer laptops as Lenovo is

But their businesses range (Probook and Elitebook) are fine

Enterprise.

I also own a Z800 and it's fucking fantastic.

This. Also, we offer some kickass financial and IT solutions. Feels good to work here.
>>
>>52525945
Leo and that one slut killed off WebOS.
Consumer grade laptops are actually getting good at the high end, while low/mid range are usable compared to overheating crap from years ago.
Business grade hardware still same as usual.
>>
>>52533814
Unfortunately for this tablet, the meme is true.
>>
>>52533031
I'd much rather have worse battery life and have the capability of running proper desktop programs if needed

>The trackpad just died about a year ago (not much of a problem, since I never used it) and it likes to heat up (idles at about 50-60c)

LOL hp's business models are as shit as their consumer models. I had an 6v6000 that I bought in 2007 and the fucking thing died 1.5 years later. My experience with it was so bad that I went with a used chinkpad and it's been butter ever since. The only US computer company I would buy at this point is dell.
>>
>>52533992
Two minor issues for me (The laptop is baisically a "desktop replacement" for me, so I've always got a mouse)
As for the heat, they did a good job diverting it away from the handrest. It's at ~50c right now and it feels cold to the touch
>>
>>52529489

Worked in one of their service desk. They made everyone in that sector including managers teamleaders all the way to the top ALL contractors. So many people lost great benefits, pay went down like crazy, kicker is direct employees were making less per hour than contractors because of benefits still got the same pay, its 12.50 by the way. I got the fuck outta there fast as I could. They literally told us the day it happened. Meanwhile meg Whitman got a huge bonus raise mere months earlier.

I will do my absolute best to stay away from all their products.

>ok lets contact support, the warranty ended but maybe I can email them a question.

NOPE.
HP throws you into the community forums as soon as its out of warranty. You've got a question ? better have your wallet ready to pay up to ask them.

>never did get bluetooth to work properly despite the hardware reporting no errors
>found a working driver for the 'unknown' hardware on lenovo's support site
fuck you HP.

My story doesn't revolve around some shitty laptop, but entirely how shitty HP's site is and how shitty their support is, fuck them hard.
>>
>>52535823
Isn't the enterprise side even more Jewish about that? I remember hearing one anon report that stuff like BIOS updates and the like for servers are behind a paywall, and they won't let you download them without a support contract.
>>
>>52535686
Possibly. It's gotta be, since it's used on Formula E.
>>
>>52535927
Too bad that HPE logo blocks the driver's vision.
>>
>>52535886
that I can understand, it all depends on your agreement with them.

>negotiate new hardware
>go with the lowest upfront cost
>gotta pay to access basic updates
>operating costs now eat into your realized savings going with the cheapest vendor
rinse and repeat every time you get new shit

Business can be ass backwards, many of them care only about initial costs and don't look down the road.
The place I work has refrigeration, we use these old ass refurbished fridges from who knows when, our compressor is also old as fuck too.
its a huge clusterfuck of what looks like the cheapest/least efficient shit they could put together.

Now because shit is so cheap and old, we spend 100K+ per year to call people in to fix/maintain it all the time.
Not to mention the lost sales/product when they do break.

I spoke to the reefer dudes before, they would *never* design is this way, but hey, its what the client wanted, and now the client pays them to be there every other week fixing/checking shit.

Although a bunch of shit happened, their high end consumer and business line of computers are pretty good.

The HP Spectre x360 is almost Apple-tier in perfection.

The HP Z-anything is pretty much god-tier in workstations.
