Edward Snowden is praised as a hero, but he's really just an attention whore that's part of the cancerous "OMG LOOK AT ME GUYZ" culture that's taken over the world.

He unveiled nothing of substance from the shit he leaked that wasn't already known(he just had proof). What's funny is that there were hundreds of people within the intelligence community with the very same concerns he had. The best part is nobody here would believe me even if I said writing your concerns to the PR department or talking with your supervisor, actually worked in making the surveillance system less abusable.

Nope, the majority of /g/ and the internet love this guy. He's viewed as the special snowflake that decided to break the rules because of his own delusions of grandeur. Forget about all the people who's trust he betrayed or the fact that terrorist sand niggers are now even harder to track. He is the embodiment of every narcissistic, holier than-thou, fedora wearing, moral high grounding, passive aggressive, better than you, faggot that thinks they know the "right" thing to do. Just look at how this self-entitled nigger won't even come back to the US because he claims he won't have a "fair trial".

A "fair trial" doesn't exist for this retard because even if there was one he'd be thrown in jail.

tldr; Snowden is a brat that wants to have his cake and eat it too. Everyone that supports this faggot is either misinformed by the sheer amount of pro-snowden shilling or is another self-righteous faggot as described above.

Maybe that's an exception, it's something I've noticed through experience.
For example most virus scanner have an exaggerated focus on design, while being horrible programs. Same thing applied to vivaldi, pc boosters tier trash, a lot Chinese commercial software etc. Etc. It's a general trend.
>I won't pay for some shitty free to play game like league of legends, but I will pay 60$ for fall out 4 because I find that digital content to be of value to me.
But are you really paying for the unit?
Fun fact: digital content is freely copy able. Why don't you copy and sell your unit for $60 over and over?
Your unit is the same as any unit anyone else distributes for free.
If people would clone and distribute chairs for free, would you buy the exact same thing in at a store?

I use linux almost purely for ideological reasons. I greatly appreciate it, Linux has opened my eyes, taught me a little bit on how an operating system work and I appreciate how powerful it is.
I still think Windows does a better job at being a desktop OS. If I had to point the single largest reason behind it, it would be money.

There's nothing wrong with running windows XP SP3 + posready2009 updates on your machine as long as you're capable of using common sense and you're not a complete retard.

Replacing gnome2 with gnome3 was absolutely unnecessary.
It's been 5 years since the first version of gnome3 and MATE (a fork of gnome2 when it was discontinued) still feels like a more complete desktop environment.

There's nothing wrong with systemd. I hope that systemd + pulseaudio + wayland + vulkan will greatly decrease the unnecessary fragmentation of the linux ecosystem and help it succeed.

VR is a gimmick and investment bubble scam riding off the back of people's Star Trek holodeck fantasies.

If you really break it down to a value proposition (ignoring the individually impressive aspects of technology) the only benefit offered to the consumer is greater immersion, which is something that 3D television also tried to offer.

The VR hype is generated by a symbiotic relationship between business people trying to scam investors for as much money as possible by keeping the 'vibe' around VR as euphoric as possible, and the useful idiots of technology enthusiasts who shill for free and want VR to succeed beyond all rational thought due to it being a "Holy Grail of Technology" by its Star Trek association.

Sure you won't notice it if all you do is browse the internet and other pleb mac user things, but actually try develop software on it or actually explore the inner workings of the system and you will see why.

I am so fucking glad I no longer have to use it, I fucking love my new X220 + Arch Linux.

Let's assume anyone who can install linux (as he says) can find the option to install software from any source. Maybe he never found it. Maybe he doesn't like it that it's enabled by default. It's like three clicks of the mouse and it's no less locked down than any other OS so the guy is a fucking idiot.

I watched the live stream as Microsoft introduced Windows 8 Developer Preview, and I immediately began looking at what my options were. I found GNOME 3.2, and a year, when it was time to build a new computer, I switched to Arch Linux and run the GNOME desktop full time.

It's gorgeous, has simplified my workflows, and I was even able to reduce from a multi-monitor configuration down to one display. Not once have I regretted the decision.

I think it's hilarious that Linux users are so stuck in their ways that they can't appreciate the world's best and more user-friendly/respectful desktop environment was written specifically for their platform. They complain about it CONSTANTLY, disregarding that a ridiculous number of alternatives exist.

I would use a high-spec laptop with shit-tier integrated graphics over a lower spec desktop with a better graphics card.

I got into an argument with a friend today about this when talking about a specific high-end laptop that had Intel HD Graphics. He scoffed and claimed his $300 desktop with a newer Pentium and Nvidia GFX was better than a $2500 laptop, and claimed he would rather spend the money on an Alienware or MSI laptop with a better graphics card.

1. Desktop environments and GUIs in general are poisonous to the mind. All you need is tux and/or some sort of window manager (or whatever).
2. There is virtually nothing good on the internet. 4chan is at least interesting because it's a true expression of people's thoughts.
3. Technology usually makes our lives worse, not better.
4. Increases in computer power are largely useless. They facilitate shittier code, but don't lead to any real progress, even in games. Supercomputers are cool, since they're what's used for any serious calculation.

Aesthetics and proper design in technology deserve more attention than they currently receive especially outside of OEM systems, form and function do not have to be mutually exclusive; Apple isn't an example of either.

Building a low-end "gaming rig" from internet guides and/or /g/ spoonfeeding doesn't make you tech literate.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying a game every once and a while.

There is nothing wrong with non-obnoxious forms of advertising.

Thickness and weight are some of the least important metrics of portability in mainstream technology since 2008.

You have, and I use this word to the fullest extent of its dictionary definition, not even the slightest inkling of what you are talking about. Education in the US and Europe has, for almost a century now, encouraged stringent use of the scientific method to procure data in research that is published for review. Even an idiot like you can purchase these journals to review (even though you almost certainly never will)

Again, to reiterate, you are an embarrassingly dumb populist cretin who doesn't even posses a modicum of insight into research psychology and are making your conjecture from a place of perfect ignorance.

Thankfully, you are no doubt either too young to go to college, dropped out, or were never accepted in the first place and therefore are in no place of authority where your glaring anti-intellectual ignorance could actually prove to be a detriment to scientific research somewhere.

Also, psychiatrist, neurologist, physiologist and psychologists have all done an impressive job demystifying the human brain, mapping out the functions of various neurons, process of iniating action potentials, and cortical structures correlation to cognitive and subconscious behaviour but you of course wouldn't know this

Don't bother replying, I am not going to read whatever hasty justification your cobble together for your arrogant stupidity. Stick to video games and anime.

Ed Snowden has had contact with Russian (and Chinese) intelligence (via WikiLeaks, who are also controlled by Russian intelligence). Despite his denials, they have had gotten all the data that he took from the NSA and are using it to their advantage. He defected to them and is now essentially a prisoner of the Russian government. The moment they think that Snowden has outlived his usefulness or that handing him over would provide even some small benefit, they wouldn't think twice about handing him over to the US government or even killing him (they could just blame the CIA; that extra bonus points there).

If you believe that Russia is a defender of privacy and human rights, or is somehow is better than the US and the West, then YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT. They have long been masters of the black arts of spycraft, and you are being played for the dumbass you are.
