>>
>>52525748

I sold that keyboard many years ago. I would suggest it. Its not the best built keyboard but its not bad by any means. It has a very fair price too but the keycaps suck which got fixed years ago (or so they claim). Hence why I used to use cherry PBTs on mine back then. The bottom row is not standard size so you cant really replace them either. They also don't use cherry switches anymore I believe. The highlight is really the small form factor while having everything a full size keyboard has.

That board might ping a bit, but otherwise it's a pretty good board.
>>
>>52526844
I guess like is it worth it and does actually works. I like the idea of an ergonomic board but I don't know if its actually something I would notice or if its just more of a placebo thing
>>
>>52526915
That's all subjective, but to call it placebo is folly. It definitely has elements that are more ergonomic, but not all keyboards fit everyone. Some people don't like the dox's thumb clusters, for example.
>>
Who uses a mechanical keyboard in their office? Is a Dell AT101W too loud for office use?

My K95 is litarally new and its not a bad keyboard (the RGB lightning gets me every time), I just have at the moment, because changing living situation, not enough free space for it. Razer is a hit and miss company with lots of misses, but their hits are strong, like the death adder (some versions, at least). The newest black widows are okay but you can get as good or better for the price.

I have no idea either. I looked to see if anyone else had tried to make a 60% out of an old apple keyboard, and certainly some cool guy on geekhack did.

He got the metal plate cut and sent me his firmware. All I have to do is copy his matrix and load the firmware on the controller.

I'll probably have to educate myself on the TMK firmware with whatever my next project will be, but for a first I'm quite glad that I could follow in someone's footsteps.

I went to best buy to try out their keyboards and they had 3 kinds of switches.

>greens
i have poor form, so I switch between bottoming out and lightly pressing keys, and the false bottom "tactile" bump kept throwing me off.
The clicking sound is really annoying, I really have no idea how anyone could tolerate the grating noise of mx blue switches unless they're wearing a headset.

>romer-g
i've never heard of this one but I tried it and it just felt like a rubber dome

>reds
They don't feel at all mechanical, it's literally like pressing down on a spring with no resistance.
I will not lie tho, it was really comfy to type on and the key noise is quite satisfying, regardless of whether i was lightly tapping or bottoming out.

So now I'm wondering if I should try out blacks or just order an mx red board.
There's no other stores around me that sell mechanical keyboards, as far as I know.

>>
>>52533470
So blacks are close to greens in resistance?
Also, browns are tactile, meaning they'd still have that false bottom bump even if they're not noisy.
>>
>>52533339
>greens
Probably those were razer greens, which are clones of cherry mx blues.

>it's literally like pressing down on a spring with no resistance
It's a linear switch, yes.
>>
>>52533523
>false bottom
What do you mean by this? Why is the tactile point at actuation a "false bottom"?
>>
>>52533641
The thing you call a "tactile bump", I feel it as a false bottom.
It's really weird, I'll press down halfway and the key doesn't depress completely the moment i stop applying pressure and the key is still sunken halfway as i move away from it to press another key and it's just really grating.
>>
>>52533710
Sounds like you're too used to rubber dome + membrane boards that equate the bottom of the stroke to actuation. You'll get used to it pretty quick, just put more force into it and you'll see how it works.
>>
Someone explain how you even use these 40% keyboards. They must be macros everywhere but I can't understand how you can do everything with so little keys.

Does anyone know if there are any "stock" keyboards sold with greys?

Or is the best hope like Massdrop.

Are there any switches in circulations which are actually "heavier" than 80g? Personally I would like to test something like 200g

>Does anyone know if there are any "stock" keyboards sold with greys?

I'd be surprised if even Assdrop had them as an option.

Aftermarket springs exist, I believe.

>>

I've tried to find any specifications for the springs in for example greys/greens
I actually found a company here that produces small springs for like pianos or something, super specialised sizes. I might actually try it out... My only problem is that I don't have soldering stuff but like only plate mounted led switches

Because they're not tactile.
>>
>>52534768
not like you have to buy the keyboard with the keycaps. also it still has them. learn to FN and never have to move your hands from homerow.
>>
>>52534791
What does tactile mean exactly?
People seem to describe rubber domes as tactile and the only response you get from those is the initial resistance from deforming the rubber dome and the soft thud from mashing the rubber dome down to the membrane sheet below.

If that is tactile, then the word "tactile" is meaningless
>>
>>52535158
Tactile means when you press down on the switch, there would be a point midway where you would either feel or hear a minor click knowing the key had registered.mx blues and Browns, the more popular "tactile switches" have a bump. You can feel at the halfway point. Mx. Reds you don't feel, and that is why most typists hate the switch since they don't know if the key registered and they would typo often
>>
>>52535158
Touchscreens for example aren't tactile.
