How long does it take to learn the basics of SQL?
The basics? A day

Basics as in? Queries? Complex joins? DML? DDL?
It's not that hard really, depending on the complexity. Relational algebra and set theory help.

>complex

Well I cannot really say what's basic and what not anymore.
>>52523214
It's covered in freshman database classes so it's probably basic
>>52523214
Complex stuff can be basic. 4+3+7=? Is a complex addition problem because it contains many parts, but it is still something a child can do even after just learning addition.

Are you really this autistic
Its possible in 1-2h really
>>52523291
lol you just got your bodies hurt. Don't sperg out yet, little Johnny. We still need you to make a complex join for things within the parenthesis.
Basics are very simple but it can get very difficult very quickly with nested joins etc

are you on the spectrum?
>>52523063
Couple of hours
>>52523346
were all on the spectrum in here, anon
>>52523324
Go suck a dick faglord
>>52523354
not really
but if you are aspie, its very likely that you like to imagine that everyone around is bit too..
it makes you less weird
>>52523063
Depends on your current lvl.
Can you program?
Are you a shit programmer?
Do you use stack overflow copy-pasta to do all your programming?
If you can program and are a non-retard then you can learn the basics in maybe a week of just fucking around with a sample database for like 30 minutes a day.
Could learn most of it in maybe a day if you spent a few hours on it, but you retain more if you do a little bit each day.

So this is what it's like to browse reddit.

Learning takes less time than asking yourself (3 hours)

1. read a book on er diagrams to learn how to create databases that are pre-normalized
2. read a book on database normalization to learn how to fix databases made by fuckwhits
3. choose a rdbms and create an example database which showcases the rdbms' strengths and features.
4. learn sql
You can skip 2 because you'll never use it. That should take 1 week + 1 week + 1 day = 15 days of serious study.
