Can anything really even compete to the Logitech MX line? I've had the mx performance since it came out in 2009 and its still chugging like a champ. Some cosmetic hits over time but that's expected.
>>
Gaming mouses are snake oil.
I use a 4 euro 5+ years old mouse that i never cleaned and it never had me any problems.
>>
>>52518655
I liked my performance mx but the left button stopped working right after a few years, got them to send me another for free despite the warranty being dead. Used that 3 or so more years and it still works but its pretty worn and the battery is getting pretty bad.

Got a Master to replace it which was great, but then saw those new elecom trackballs and bought one like 2 weeks later. Been using that now, but honestly probably like the master better.

Should take the trackball to work work or use it for my laptop.

I like my naga purely bc muh buttons. Honestly, I like them for my gaymes. I've considered getting the Logitech equivalent once the Razer inevitably craps out but I don't knew if its even any good.

My Anywhere MX is perfect except for the damn high pitched noise that it makes whenever I move it. I'm trying to get Logitech to do an RMA. If nothing else, the warranty period is decently long.

MX Revolution
Pros.
-Fit my hand like a fucking glove
-Scroll button was smooth as fuck and had free scroll macro
-Tracked very well for a sub 1k mhz mouse at the time
Cons.
-Batteries lasted about a year before dying(not replaceable)
-Wireless signal deteriorated after about 3 months due to buggy firmware
-Logitech never released good firmware and after acknowledging it was bad and eta'ing a release of new firmware, they neg'd and deleted all threads/posts relating to it by users and deleted their sticky support thread.

I have an m705. It's pretty great, especially since I can hotkey the extra buttons to keyboard keys for quickselect in a game. The scroll wheel at first was pretty gimmicky but I've found some occasional nice uses for it. The battery life is pretty ridiculous too.

Hyperion Fury, I have one. Amazing mouse, can't beat it for the price!
>>
>>52518764
Bullshit. I think gaming, graphics and data entry are valid scenarios in which high-end mice AREN'T snake oil. I've done all of them, and it's pure horror trying to get precision work done with a shitty mouse.

I do programming and sysadmin stuff now, so I've used a $15 mouse/kb setup for years, and never noticed.
>>
>>52520458
I think what he means is that the same mouse without the word gaming in the description or name will be half the price. From what I've seen, a lot of gaming peripherals are over priced and covered in gaudy leds compared to the non gaming equivalents
>>
Zowie EC2-A just arrived in the mail. Gonna try it out tomorrow.

Fucking hyped
>>
>>52518764

Ok, then I want a wireless mouse that has a lot of buttons on it, that I can also map to do something useful with on-board memory and profile switching.

Is there a "normal" non-gaming mouse that can do that? Nope. At least I haven't found one.

MX Performance feels weird to my hand
MX Master feels comfy as fuck, but the dodgy Bluetooth and horizontal scroll wheel that only works half the time made me return it

Currently on the G700s and it's pretty good. It fits what I want. Too bad it has terrible 1-2 day battery life.

my m705 can do this just fine. It's not a "gaming" mouse.

Unless you mean like 12 thumb buttons because it only has the back and forward buttons, scroll wheel tilt, and an extra thumb button (all programable).
>>
>>52518655

Geez anon, you went through the rubber with your thumb lol.
>>
>>52520770

That mouse and many others require software to do all of that on your computer. I was looking for something with on-board memory and IIRC the M705 and pretty much all of Logitech's non-gaming line doesn't have on-board memory for it.

I tried the M705 in a store and it was pretty comfy, although seemed a bit small, but ok.

Logitech SetPoint is kinda dodgy sometimes, when I was using it with the MX Performance, sometimes the program-specific settings wouldn't apply until I re-opened SetPoint. I'd expect it to be active and ready to do whatever all the time.

they're not, they're just expensive and then everyone hops on the meme bandwagon
These round it up:
>Adjust dpi from 200 to 12000
>If you palm grip, it's smaller than it looks
>Wired
>7 mouse buttons
>blue

if you want it, get it, otherwise consider the g402

>>
using wifi/bluetooth rather than wired for gaming is retarded.
>>

I have one, and I'm working on transitioning to a claw grip, but I have fairly large hands and the problem I've going with palm grip is that I end up with my pinkie and ring fingers rubbing on my mouse pad and getting sore. The huge DPI isn't really useful to me because my monitor is 1600x900, but hopefully it'll be nice when I upgrade to 1440p.

Got it 5 years ago used from a friend who had it for 2 years.
It's survived three laptops, four PC builds, and still works just fine.
>>
>>52520814
Normally, a mouse can only send 5 standard and wheel tilts and they're understood by the OS as they are. For other buttons, the mouse sends some data but the OS doesn't normally understands it. These software intercept the mouse clicks and the extra data, understand which whatever is pressed and simulates the action you assigned it to.
You want a mouse that doesn't exist.

maybe buy a new battery for it ?

the battery it comes with says 2050mah, but if i charge it with any RC car charger it states it only takes 740mah before delta-peak.

a standard alkaline lr6 is about 1300mah

I use a cheap pack of Duracell 2500mah batteries and they each last me roughly 4-5 days of all day usage. I call that acceptable for a mouse thats polling 1000hz with all the mapable buttons i can ever need

I sit at my computer at work at least 8 hours a day, so I'm very concerned with ergonomics. I have a steelcase seat (proper height, depth, etc), monitor at proper height, and the tenkeyless makes the angle i have to reach out to my mouse much more comfortable.

I'd get a 60% if it didnt gimp the keyboard so much, but I barely ever used the numpad on my filco (i touch type), so losing the numpad wasn't a big deal

pic is me btw - super obese neet

The mouse does exist, it's just under the "gaming" mouse market.

My G700s does exactly what I wanted, it's just in the gaming mouse market and it has terrible battery life. At least I can easily swap the AA batteries tho. Reason why I want something that isn't gaming is I don't need 1000Hz polling rates and other gaming crap.
>>
>>52526436
if you set the poling rate on to 333 or something the mouse lasts much longer.
You dont have to use 1000hz MAH gaming mode all the time if you dont want to.
>>
>>52526564

I set it to 125Hz and it still lasts 1-2 days, either 125Hz doesn't do anything, something is broken or the battery life is terrible regardless of what polling rate I use. I also set the mouse to power saver mode.
>>
>>52526672
thats really strange : id say the battery has just been cycled through.

After about 200cycles the lr6 batteries just deteriorate. at 400 they are often considered Dead.

and as i said in >>52525722
the battery it comes with is way over-rated. Mine delta peaked at only 40% label capacity.

Yeah I got the mouse about a week ago and since then, the included rechargable battery has only lasted me 2 days max. After the first day, Logitech's gaming software would complain that my battery is getting low. By the second day, it likes to cut out and die. Turning off, then turning on the mouse works a few times before it flat out dies. I guess the eneloop it came with is either shit, or it's old. No idea how to check how old the battery actually is from date it was made. Or when the mouse was manufacturered.

Even though it says to only use NiMH batteries, I just use Alkaline batteries now and so far, the Energizer Industrial series. So far, no battery low warning on day 1. I'll see how long it actually lasts. I'll probably just go buy some high capacity rechargables later. Would be really awesome if Duracell Quantums in rechargable format.

The only reason i think it specifies NiMH is to keep idiots from sticking a similar sized 3volt Li-ion battery in it.

the nominal voltage on an lr6 is 1.4-1.5 on an alkaline and 1.2-1.3 on a rechargeable. Ive used alkaline in it before in a pinch, but did always take it out just in case. i doubt they would design a product that takes a normal battery, and not account that people might put a one time use cell in it with some sort of voltage protection circuit.

If the battery sat on a shelf a long time before you got it, its possible it degraded. People say that NiMH dont have a memory effect, but i can say that if they sit around long enough in a warehouse, that swings from hot to cold they will decrease in their capacity/voltage/ and lifespan.

The Eneloop /sanyo cell mine came with was awful

I swore by my old MX until I finally had to chuck it.
Upgraded to pic related.

When used with AutoHotKey for application-specific chorded macros, you can do a ridiculous amount of stuff and bypass most complications with 5 button mouse limits in software.

Only weird thing is not being able to map wheel tilt to scroll left/right in HW, so you have to map them to goofy keys in HW then use AHK to map those keys to left/right scroll in SW.

example macros for my browsers:
> g10/g13 thumb buttons = alt-click/shift-click for fast 4chins catalog pin/hide
> m4+wheel = PgUp/PgDn fast scrolling
> g18 thumb button = ctrl-rightclick for Context Menu Image Saver plugin instant no-dialog image saving

What's the best mouse for my big meaty claws? 7'' hands and most mice are too freaking small.

that's a very good looking mouse. What's it called exactly?

I have an EC1-A. Shape is identical to a deathadder, which i like quite a lot. Sensor is very good, no synapse, lgs, or other shit, just plug and play. Scroll wheel is a bith shit tho. Mine started locking up after a month, and wouldn't middle click, but it seems to have fixed itself
>>

well they gotta discontinue stuff eventually, otherwise it would just cost them too much money to stay in production when very little buy it. If there's a mouse you really like, buy another when it's on sale or something. Chances are, it will be discontinued in a few years unless there's actual consistent demand i.e. their lower end ones for business and schools. Same design, just revised a little and sold in bulk.
>>
>>52532909
How much did you pay for it? I can't find them for under $70 new

This, but in Europe. There was another one for sale but it reeked of dried cum and cigarette smoke.

I have 2.
Great design but the sensor is not up to todays standards, even with highest pointer speed it's still too slow for me.

>>52532633
The new Elecom is quite good, but designed for tiny asian hands. It's too small to be comfortable, especially when compared to the old Microsoft trackball
>>
MX518 here, got it when they where new and its still going strong, survived 3 generations of PCs and into the 4th now.
>>
>>52533477
Do you have the elecom switch set to blue or red? I am not sure what the difference is but I am still not quite sure I like it. Its usable but I constantly feel the pinpoint accuracy and smoothness is lacking.

Should try swapping back to my master MX and installing its software again then use it for a week to decide if I want to stick with the elecom at home.

>>52533477

I've never really used trackball mice, what am I missing out on?
>>
>>52533477

I have the wireless trackball mouse, but I need the receiver do you know if there's any alternatives?
>>
>>52534272

FWIW the only other option is Bluetooth and after dealing with the issues with the MX Master, I feel like all Bluetooth mice suck.

For everyone complaining about battery life, GET A G602. Battery last ages.

I've been using this for a little over 5 years now I think? It's recently started to scroll a bit by itself, happens randomly and can be stopped if I use the scroll wheel. Took it apart and cleaned it, no difference. Could it be be updating to Win 10? Also battery life is shit, have to charge it every other day or so.

Until your battery dies, or someone turns on the microwave. Also, wireless is heavier.

Can anyone recommend a good 5-button thumb-controlled trackball mouse to me? The wireless Logitechs get shit reviews.

I've never used a trackball before, but I want to start. Is Elecom actually good? I have massive hands, so that might be a problem.

I'm currently using the pictured mouse and it's alright. Fits my hands fine.

I upgraded my entire PC a couple weeks ago, only to find out that USB 3.0/3.1 drivers don't have any mods that change the polling rate the same way USB 2.0 drivers could, and the biggest draw of that generation of Microsoft mice is that most of them can do 1000Hz easy

There's fewer and fewer genuine IMO's and WMO's on eBay, with one's in the wild being a crapshoot at thrift stores, and once USB 2.0 controllers are phased-out entirely on new motherboards (wait for it), they're going to be an even bigger niche gamer mouse than they already are

I'm thinking of buying a decent, cheap wireless mouse. Any opinions of pic related?

I use an MX Performance and it's honestly a matter of getting used to it. I thought it was absolutely bizarre when I first bought it and totally unergonomic, and now I can't change to anything else. I'd advise giving it a week or so, and see if you still dislike it then.

Former SSfag here: it isn't just the cushioned rubber on the sides that goes, it's the entire goddamn rubber coating. For the first month, the mouse feels like pure sex, but over time, the coating disintegrates like a motherfucker, leaving this subtle grainy residue on your hands and anything in the vicinity, and it feels horrible. It eventually rubs-off entirely, leaving your mouse a grainy mess with bald spots, and this happened to both a Rival and Sensei Raw
>>
>>52518946
I dig my g600, any question about it?
>>
>>52518655
I have the mx performance aswell, been using it since it came out too.
Before that I had the m revolution, best damn mouse I ever had.. to bad every last one of them was defective and the wheel would shit itself and lock up.

I also used the dinovo edge but those also shit themselves, Ive gone through 2 or three of them and finally settled for a $12 keyboard from walmart that just werks.

Why is logitechs cheep products better?

>Can anything really even compete to the Logitech MX line?

Loved Logitech back in the day. G9 was working for good 5 years and even then only the cable started giving me troubles.

Its like they are a different company now, I don't see classy mice like the MX you posted. Their designs are tacky nowadays.

Do they at least keep making 3D mouse?

I remember using Logitech thumb buttons was contextual, like they'd have different functions according to what program you were using. That was great.

Now I'm stuck with this shit that wont let me map the buttons.
>>
>>52536089

I gave it a month, then returned it. It just didn't feel right day one, or the day before returning it.

For the MX Master, the first day I put my hands on it, it felt great and it just worked.
>>
Some of them make high pitched squeal noises.

That an nowadays they look like ridiculous spaceship mice.
>>
>>52534240
Depends. I work in a tech job and then go home and bum, so I'm using a computer 12 hours a day. Before I switched, my wrist was giving me hell. After, no issues.
>>
>>52536806

There's probably still a demand within the 3D modeling and animation market. I have no idea how those damn mice work.
>>
>>52536925
there's a program that lets you do that for any mouse
>>
>>52518655
I have two. Been using both for over 5 years, one has started double clicking on a single click and randomly clicking when dragging. Other one is fine though. Thinking of going MX Master to replace the weird one.
>>
>>52535934
Zowie mice are pretty good, specs-wise and ergonimics-wise.
>>
My first "nice" mouse was a Deathadder 3G 1800dpi that I was gifted in 2008 as a high school graduation present.

I've used it for so long that I've had to replace the feet. I'm still using it today.

Has razer gone to shit since or is my mouse a rare exception?
