>this sudden influx of irrational Linux hate threads right when Windows 10 is flopping harder than a fish out of water
Still convinced Microsoft doesn't have viral marketers here?
>>

Windows 10 is almost the most used desktop OS on the planet. It's definitely failing and Linux with its <1% market share is definitely where Microsoft is turning its attention to attack.
>>
>>52515509
>still thinks the desktop is relevant anymore.
>>
win7 is still the best OS
>>
>>52515509
>most used desktop OS on the planet
That would be 7 followed by XP
>less than 1% market share
If you count ChromeOS, which you should since it's fucking Gentoo with full screen Chrome and a couple of custom scripts, Linux is at 4%.
>>
>>52515577
Wow, chromebooks are that popular?
>>
>>52515634
Chrome OS is about 2%, with regular GNU/Linux at 2% as well. Expect to see those numbers spike in the next few years as iOS and Android get proper desktop modes and normies flee to them.
>>
>>52515466

Happening on comment sites too. I've had countless posts deleted.

>>52515763
You get downvote brigades on Reddit if you advocate using Linux, and baby ducks will shriek and xry and whine until you get banned. This is a problem since Reddit is where people marginally more competent than Facebook sheeple tend to gather.

Windows 10 is shit and all reviews are paid

I can't believe this fucking shit I'm seeing right now. Stellar reviews all over the place for something that is LITERALLY, and by that I mean LITERALLY, LITERALLY the same shit as 8.1 except with a shitty meme start menu, different but still shitty phone tier unusable meme apps, and shitty meme assistant Cortana that mines your useless normie data. Oh, and a fucking ripoff of Expose from 5 year's ago Mac OS but with worse animations.

That wouldn't be all that bad but it is missing many features from Windows 8, most important one being COLORFUL TITLE BARS. Now everything is so white it will burn your retinas off, this is fucking ridiculous, you could always change that color in Vista, 7 and 8 but now you can't anymore because fuck you. You can't even change icon spacing for the desktop or pin shit to the left side of the start menu, if you disable recent apps it just shows empty space... WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU NEED THAT WHEN YOU CAN PIN TILES TO THE RIGHT HOLY SHIT EVERYONE IS GOING TO PIN HIS FAVOURITE APPS THERE GOD FUCKING DAMN IT I'M SO FUCKING TRIGGERED RIGHT NOW. And finally it's still full of fucking duplicated apps/programs like the new shitty settings, inconsistent icons, rough animations, shit's that early as fuck (Edge, are you kidding me with this shit? Literally IE but slightly faster in some shill benchmark and MS Paint built in because that's what everyone wants right? Being able to scribble shit on web pages, what's the fucking point?).

TL;DR I am surrounded by shills how do I stop this?

By the way I'm seriously considering switching to Linux or Mac, this shit is the last straw I'm so fucking done with this shit tier pleb os.

>Microsoft has renewed its Privacy Policy and Service Agreement. The new services agreement went into effect a day before the win10 release.

>By default, when signing into Windows with a Microsoft account, Windows syncs some of your settings and data with Microsoft servers, for example “web browser history, favorites, and websites you have open” as well as “saved app, website, mobile hotspot, and Wi-Fi network names and passwords”.

>Windows generates a unique advertising ID for each user on a device. This advertising ID can be used by third parties, such as app developers and advertising networks for profiling purposes.

>When device encryption is on, the BitLocker recovery key for the user’s device is automatically backed up online in the Microsoft OneDrive account.

>To enable Cortana, Microsoft collects and uses data such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts, how often you interact with them on your device, your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browse and Bing search history, speech data, your voice input, as well your name and nickname, your recent calendar events and the names of the people in your appointments, and information about your contacts including names and nicknames.

>“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to enforce the terms governing the use of the services".

>Microsoft basically grants itself very broad rights to collect everything you do, say and write with and on your devices in order to sell more targeted advertising or to sell your data to third parties. The company appears to be granting itself the right to share your data either with your consent “or as necessary”.

Like where? I understand our world is built around privacy violations but you shouldn't have to fight your own goddamn OS.

You're too young to fully grasp what an OS is supposed to do for you though, so I understand your frustration. Just remember that an OS is supposed to serve the user, not the government/corporation that sold it.

Linux is cool but OS wars are not new here. I like and use Windows 10 but there are some seriously fucked up things about it.

>By default, when signing into Windows with a Microsoft account, Windows syncs some of your settings and data with Microsoft servers
That's what I would expect, and why you shouldn't do that. Windows 8 tried to force you to use a online account and 10 is less forceful about that.

>>52516460
Very few boards have EVER had paid shills. There are more likely suspects on /g/ anyway, like the ebay used thinkpad sellers. It seemed like it was happening on /k/ with people making threads about RIP rounds (silly fragmenting handgun ammo), the HK VP9 (overpriced striker fired pistol), and the Sebenza (overpriced folding knife). The latter two were endlessly reposted in every thread by the same namefag and he even got /b/ to spam it all over /k/ once. /g/ doesn't deal with that kind of shit.

Wait, really?

Oh my fucking God, that shit was killing me. I loved the W10 pre-release when I ran it in a VM. Then on one build they switched to the shitty all-white titlebars. I hated every moment of it.

I'm still waiting to hear that they fixed this bug:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/system-sounds-ignoring-set-volume/c132a7ff-3b40-4828-bf34-30450ba17471?auth=1

(summary: at least with a Sound Blaster USB setup, the system maxes out the "System Sounds" slider every time it plays any system sound, like a UAC prompt notification. Fucking aggravating, and required manual intervention after every single reboot)
>>

But it's far from it, Windows 7 will remain the most used desktop OS, then GNU/Linux and BSD* will take over the irrelevancy of desktop OS'es

The best part about this thread is it isn't even grounded in reality, windows 10 has a faster and larger adoption by total users and percent than any other version of windows.

People complaining about Linux is a good thing.
Windows 10 has alienated a portion of the windows user base, and they're looking for alernatives.
More people are trying Linux and giving it attention.
Linux, in general, is hard if you have never dealt with it before, and /g/ shits on Ubuntu so they don't try it first.
Ubuntu is the only PnP whole GUI distro I have ever used, and is really the best option for those coming from windows. Even mint has a ton of issues that need to be fixed from a command line.
>>
>>52519872
No, it means they can be computed commutatively and maintain the same meaning, i.e. 6/3*8 = 16

But we tell 10 y/o left to right because commutativity is an algebra concept.

Feynman (among many others) consider 3/4*5 to mean 3/(4*5), 3*4/5 to mean 3*(4/5), etc, i.e. / division (and also implicit multiplication) having higher priority over other forms of division (and multiplication). There is no valid order for these, 3/4*3 can be interpreted in both ways equally validly, but they chose the convention that makes sense and isn't retarded.
>>
>>52520418
Maybe I'm just dumb, but 3 * 1/4 * 5 makes much more sense in general to me.

I use Linux but I also make a lot of Linux hate threads because I enjoy seeing all the autists defending their beloved penguin. Also I want to make Windows users look dumb by most of my threads being about problems that can be solved easily.
So if I could do it,I am pretty sure many such threads are made by people like myself.

Why would they need viral marketers when they have enough genuine retards at their disposal?

>Still convinced Microsoft doesn't have viral marketers here?
Both amateur and professional.
"Around 2007, Microsoft realised tech sites like Slashdot had a significant involvement in the very public rejection of Vista as a replacement for XP. They hired several reputation management companies, including Waggener Edstrom and Burson Marsteller to manage their online presence before the W7 release.
One of the results of that was that the reputation mangers ran hundreds of sock-puppets in blogs and news aggregators, like Slashdot and Reddit. They swamped the discussions, including those unrelated to their OS with scripted comments based on a few themes - "Have you tried it yet?" "Much faster than XP" etc etc. There was no opportunity to discuss Linux/FOSS or any other non-proprietary effort without wading through dozens of highly moderated pro-Win 7 postings. Pretty much every first post was a Microsoft-favorable pamphlet."
And we all know about the MS fanbois, right?

Try using a dumbed-down GUI program such as pic and code related. Works great for me, and I if something doesn't work, the ArchWiki page is comprehensive enough.
