>What is Remix OS? Where do I download it?
Remix OS is a fork of Android x86 that is modded for better usability with mice and touchpads. It's designed to run on your PC.
http://www.jide.com/en/remixos-for-pc

>Where do I get Google Play and gapps?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xig55qb7yd41iwq/GMSInstaller.apk?dl=0
1. Download GMSInstaller.apk
2. Install APK file and run it.
3. Click on "One-click to install Google Services" (this will automatically download google play services).
4. Clear the data for google Google Services and Playstore or you'll have problems getting apps.

This sucks
I have it installed on a USB 3.0 stick on a desktop with an ocd 4690k and it still lags to fucking hell. It's like using a 2012 midranger phone again.

The shilling is real.

The EULA flat out says that if you install this OS, then you waive OWNERSHIP of all your files. Let's also not forget that you agree to not say anything bad about the Chinese government.

Now fuck off.

They got rid of that for the International version. That's only the Chinese version now.

Hopefully we'll see some useful posts in this thread, last one was pretty shit tbqh.

You can root Remix OS in windows too, but I'm too lazy to make a guide.. just know that you need an EXT4 driver (eg. Ext2Fsd) to open system.img, then mount it with whatever program you have, I already said before I use OSFMount but there's probably something better, also since you have the EXT4 driver you can open and edit data.img too as you wish, you can transfer files from a Windows system to Remix OS easily (pic related).

Anyways, any suggestions to sync your phone with Remix OS? I've plenty of apps on my Android phone that I wanted to try on PC but I don't really want to go through the trouble of reinstalling and reupdating them all, losting all my progress in the process. Any ideas?

Google didn't want users to have the same freedom they do on Android. They wanted to lock people to their proprietary web apps and milk them with cloud services and data mining.

I'd say it's necessary, but it's not mandatory, though USB 2.0 takes like a hour and half for Remix OS to start the first time in resident mode, the OS needs at least 8GB because just the system image plus the data image take over 6GB.

You should try installing it on your HDD if you don't have an USB 3.0 drive with at least 8GB, there're guides to do it, you can unlock the 4GB space limit too.

How does it crash? at the boot loader or after the android logo? I went through some annoying troubleshooting to get it working properly on my system too but it looks good now (except it's laggy as hell), I'm using USB3 16Gb stick on a dektop with i5 4460 and GF GT 630.
>>

Fuck off shilling chinkOS botnet bollocks.

>>
>>52529444
Resident mode right? it's probably like you said the speed is too low, when I tried booting from my USB2 stick I gave up because it didn't even manage to go past the "please be patient" stage, before even booting android, if I waited a hour or two it mgiht have been able to (that's basically the stage when the system creates the data.img file which is a 4GB EXT4 partition and USB2 write speed is 2-3 MB/s at best so it takes a lot of time if it goes well).

The only choices are: use an USB3 stick on USB3 port or try installing the OS on your HDD/SSD.

Here is a guide by the way: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/remix-os-for-pc/bvYa1PWQHP8/VImcJ4CSAQAJ
