ITT things that would only ever exist in open source
>>
>>52506139
What a frustrating photo, that is.
To think, we all live on the same planet as the imbecile that spent minutes of his time creating that image.
To this day, probably, he cucks himself with Windows and never bothered to find out how he could configure Linux to show thumbnails in the file upload dialog.
>>
>not knowing what every file name on your hard drive contains
>windows plebs
>>
>>52506204
>never bothered to find out how he could configure Linux to show thumbnails in the file upload dialog.

How would he have done that?
>>
>>52506139
And yet it runs in more devices than windows and OSX combined, including embedded devices.
>>
ITT: minor shit that keeps loonix free of retards like OP.

Why should anyone have to put any extra effort into basic functionality? You are saying this issue is basically a feature

The Internet.
>>
>>52506568
Modern WM/DEs have had this feature by default for years. When I say "years" I mean 5+ years. More lightweight ones may need to configure it but running Gnome/KDE is a zeroconf situation with that. OP is just a retard.

>>
>>52506139

>>
>>52506693
A bicycle would be something like a non graphical environment like i3.
This is like buying a motorcycle and seeing that it doesn't have a fuel gauge.
>>
>>52506709
No, this is like buying a car produced in 1995 and being mad when the stock head unit doesn't support AUX or Bluetooth. Once again this feature has been present in the big DEs for many years.
>>
>>52506717
The big counter is that 'this feature exists', so why isn't it default?
Especially in an OS that is designed to be a windows replacement
>>
>>52506693
How nice of you to compare Linux to a bicycle and Windows to a motorcycle

Proving that Windows is faster and more advanced than Linux

I just leave a file manager open and drag-and-drop files as needed. by doing this

>I can preview the whole file by double clicking
>I can manage my files because it's a file manager

Not often. At least in my experience it only crashes because of GPU drivers. When those fail it can rarely even show an error message before the screen stops updating, or the computer goes into thermal shutdown because the GPU is locked at 100% with no functioning power management.

Games, sometimes better drivers (I get less power consumption on my laptop, I counted, although didn't really bother going in-depth on power saving in Linux). Also you may find this surprising, but stability might become a factor also. A lot of modern Linux distros are not all that stable, I had KDE5 crash every now and then.

You said every modern DE has this feature. As far as I know, only KDE has it, and KDE is awful.

Nope. No they are not.

I still standby the cancer is this thread. Unless you dedicate your programming skills to the linux project you have decided to leech from, then missing features is only right that you should simply shut the fuck about with your complaining. Program a solution, or continue to fail at seeing any changes.

KDialog has to be compiled with the browser. If you know how to integrate it, I'd appreciate a link.

I know Chromium has a patched version that uses KDialog instead of GTK, but I'm too reliant on certain Firefox-based addons to switch to a Chrome-based browser.

Those files do not look organized.

I organize too using reaction images.

~/Pictures/Reaction\ Images/anime/sad

Got one folder for each type of reaction. Each folder has a bunch of images with their original 4chan filenames intact. I don't want to browse through these images to find the right one with the preview. I'd like the files to have properly sized thumbnails for easier navigation within folders.

These threads are always filled with the same 4 type of people, but the dumbest type of person has to be the ones who claim this is not an issue, or saying "Works for me" then posts a screenshot of their preview.

The point of staying organized is so you can remember the general location of your files, which makes using a single thumbnail easy. Why wouldn't you rename your images when you download them anyway?

>These threads are always filled with the same 4 type of people, but the dumbest type of person has to be the ones who claim this is not an issue, or saying "Works for me" then posts a screenshot of their preview.

Why would you scan for files when you can type the name you want in your indexer? If you really did lose the file then looking at the names or going one by one will be less error prone than trying to scan over 50 thumbnails at the same time.

I still don't see that as a well organized reaction folder by your standard.

What is the difference between

and

>1239898213123.jpg
>1238950136106.jpg
>1239050127401.jpg

They're both in our Disgusting folder after all.
Both your organizing and my organizing requires thumbnails to properly pick the correct image to use. And the GTK filepicker thumbnails are too small for that. Especially if it's a folder with more specific images that you'd want to post, like screenshots from anime.

No they aren't. You can get the general idea of what the image in the tiny thumbnail is and when you click on it you get the bigger thumbnail like your picture shows. It's the same with OS X in columns mode. If you have your stuff organized it's not the much of a hinderance at all.

Why do you need the name of the anime in the file? Isn't that redundant for a board that prides itself on not "spoonfeeding" people?
Just set it to save in incremental filenames. Better yet, use the date so you'll find where you left off even easier.

This will not help me find that exact screenshot I want. Finding the episode number is easy through the filename. Finding the exact screenshot from a given episode is something that would be trivial with a proper filepicker.

You're right. It's one of the worst boards on 4chan in my opinion. But clearly lots of people like it so oh well.

So you mean finding a screenshot long after you've taken it. Why wouldn't using your cursor keys to go up and down the list of files work? I mean how many screenshots do you take per episode? Once you find the episode you wanted it would only take a few seconds to get the right screenshot.

It only looks confusing on an anime like GochiUsa, but it does allow for easy organizing after the season is over, since all the screenshots are sorted by anime name. When I'm done watching them, I can make a folder for them and easily find every screenshot from that specific show and put them in to a proper folder.

I'd love to have mpv do this for me, but unfortunately I haven't found this kind of functionality.
