What is so bad about Windows 10?

I don't have any other complains, if you're autistic add the whole botnet bullshit
>>
>>52492532
Botnet, right now, is mostly for tracking bugs. But the rest is all about about dumbing it down for the user. The first-time user is getting younger and younger, so making it harder to customize means your 4 year old isn't going to break your shit.

There is nothing bad about it. If you want true, non biased info, head on over to ZDnet, they'll help you get started with your Windows 10™ journey.

setting up an administrator password does the same thing without limiting the options of the admin.

You are not required to use or make one. If you don't want to use the store.

Microsoft watched the entire systemd drama from the sidelines and did not learn from it. Great.

The fact that the fucking calculator asks you to rate the app in their store, not to mention that it's fucking broken.

Oh, and you'll find pieces of functionality that they just removed still laying around. For instance, drag an executable over the start button. It will give you a hover saying "Pin to start menu". But nothing will happen. Because they removed that. But they didn't bother to take out the hover so you have no idea at first if something is supposed to happen or not.

Windows 10 is sloppy as fuck. I wouldn't be surprised if Satya farmed it out to a bunch of his buddies and thus got the standard India quality guarantee.
>>
>>52494071
>some don't want to learn
I'd say that's about 80% of the users, because most people don't want an operating system that they have to learn. Plug and play, or in this case, plug and work, is getting more and more common for people to want
>>
>>52492371

People can't stop making shitty threads about it and lowering the overall quality of /g/.
>>
>>52494859
It's a beta, it has to have some rating features. But eah, removing functions like that is retarded
>>
I haven't used so I can't say anything good or bad about it.

I can say, however, that thanks to Microsoft's constant bullshit with the sneaky updates and the 24/7 nagging and evertything I don't want to ever touch it.

Fuck you, Microsoft. Leave me the fuck alone. I don't want your shit, stop trying to force it down my throat every day.
>>
>>52494996
Why the fuck is calculator, a program that has shipped with windows pretty much since the beginning, in beta more than six months after the release of the OS?

Why are they charging people and companies for an OS whose components are still in beta?

How the fuck is anyone ok with this?
>>
>>52492532
>500 for a OS

what

Is that true or did you pull a big number out of your ass for dramatic effect?
>>
>>52494955
well, at least they could've tought of some option on msconfig.exe to allow you to do shit that they are so afraid that the 4 year olds might do on accident

1: calculator is not a high priority, and they probably broke it from 8.1 to 10

2: they're not shipping anything else, and need money to keep themselves afloat

3: who's going to make their workforce switch to ubuntu? There are few alternatives, none of which are good for the workforce

>>52495056
Users who know how to use config are generally not the same ones who use windows

I went up to windows 10 as soon as the update rolled out but I uninstalled it and went back to 8.1 after about a month. Also a technician so here are the problems I have seen so far.

>Links will break frequently, you will click on an icon or even the windows start button and nothing will happen, you cant even hit the windows key.
>If you upgrade instead of clean install, it will be riddled with bugs
>Many users upgrades fail, so they will be stuck between two installs and unable to repair either.
>Mandatory Updates
>A third control panel interface, two was bad enough now we have three.
>4GB Ram isnt enough to run smoothly, 6-8 is now my reccomended to customers.
>Mandatory Updates will clash with other drivers.

These are just the bad things I have seen as requested, I'm running 10 on my entry level laptop and it seems to work fine. 8.1 is much more stable on my custom built desktop though.
>>
>>52495226
In terms of calculator, they completely rewrote it for some stupid fucking reason. You can actually install the 8.1 calc on Windows 10 and it works fine. What they should have done is push the 8.1 version, and then replace it with their app store version when they actually had it working (because it still doesn't work). But that would force them to admit that their new app environment isn't so great and is buggy as fuck.
>>
>>52495281
I agree with everything you said other than RAM. Sitting at 2GB of usage here with Firefox open.
>>
>>52495281
>third control panel
Where is the new one?
I didnt find it before I uninstalled it
>>
>>52495226
really? msconfig not a super complex aplication its just somewhat hidden, I find that if you want to have better control over your OS you should need to know how to use it
>>
>>52495311
what are you doing? i am on debian with xfce+compton, have ~20 tabs open with 2 livestreams, youtube and steam (and i set 4chanx to prefetch on worksafe boards) and am still on 1400MB
>>
>>52495389
Firefox is on 300MB of RAM. Windows accounts for the other 1.5GB.
>>
>>52495427
that's quite a lot actually, my firefox is at 1000mb, meaning that everything else is only 400mb. win 10 is therefor a ram hog.
>>
>>52495479
Interesting....something doesn't seem to be quite right. Adding up the sum of all processes commited bytes gives me 1.4GB. But Windows claims I'm using 2.8GB. So what the fuck is the other 1.4GB?
>>
>>52495345
Control Panel(Windows 7), Settings(Windows 8) and I'm prretty sure I had problems with dealing with another one but I may have been imagining it. I usually just use the Windows 7 control panel.

>>
>>52492371
constant hangs/freezes/bluescreens
inconsistent icon theme (combination of all the previous ones)
5 different native title bars
5 different native context menus
everything is eye-burning white
no improvements of any kind over 8.1
doesn't bring any of the promised features like tabs in explorer or more filesystems
shit we had before has been removed, like setting a color for the glaring white title bars
control panel was only partially migrated to new style app, leaving it split in half like a literally unfinished product
has issues I've never had before like needing 5 fucking minutes to find my goddamn home wifi and not connecting automatically despite being set to do so

You'd need a lot less time to describe what IS good about win10:
nothing.
>>
>>52495577

nah, most likely a driver with a memory leak. Trying to figure out which one now

Nope. Turns out Windows memory reporting is just absolute garbage. Poolmon reports the correct number, Windows is off by almost a GB.

For fucks sake Microsoft
