I'm done with gnu/linux. Last 4 years have been a nightmare of losing files every while for installing software, broken boot requires too many hours of google (because you know, you must be a programmer for using something windows users have on a click) and a fucking shit load of incompatibility that wine prompts errors.

Nobody can say a regular user didn't try it, that haven't learned. But nothing can buy my time back. This isn't for non-programmers.

I wasal considering switching. Is it really that bad?

I will always buy Microsoft Windows™ because the future starts now™. Microsoft also pioneers innovative new technologies like DirectX™, Office™, and the highest quality operating system to ever grace computers.
When I boot up with a brand new computer running Microsoft Windows™ with the latest Z chipset powered by Intel™ and latest Nvidia™ graphics, I can enjoy the games the way they where meant to be played™. Microsoft™ also pioneers in the gaming field with its latest Xbox™ console to allow gamers to play on their big screens with family and friends.
Microsoft Windows™ is also very secure. It's the most secure operating system on the planet. It's harden against NSA probes, tested by highly trained and experienced programming engineers to have ever graced this planet. With such innovative security technologies like UAC, Defender, Security Essentials, BitLocker, and Windows™ Firewall you can ensure all your sensitive data is secured and you're safe on the internet. Microsoft™ most advanced, and dare say, the most advance web browser on the market, Edge™, has decoupled addon support, like flash, to ensure maximum user safety when browsing the web. You can ensure Microsoft™ keeps you safe from the NSA.
At this point in time there's really no reasons to consider Linux. I tried once. It caused my Nvidia™ graphics to overheat so much due to its poor quality, novice programmed, open source drivers that it exploded and nearly burnt down my house.
It's quite clear that OPs a Linux shill trying to convince you to settle on something less than the optimal experience with Windows™. Windows™ is the only real way to play games or do anything productive. We've seen that they offer incredible libraries for software developers like Visual Studio and Microsoft C++ Compiler. He is probably too poor to afford the Microsoft Windows™ experience and can not afford to play any games.
Don't be a poor gamer with bad security and no drivers. The Future Starts Now™ with Microsoft Windows™

Look, I've also had to reinstall Windows a few times because the NTFS MFT became corrupted or the OS would refuse to boot. I've had the same Xubuntu install for more than 2 years now, and I've never had a problem that 2 minutes of Google-fu couldn't fix. On Windows, everything was convuluted and hidden from the user, meanwhile on GNU/Linux, you can easily look at the system logs and crash reports (Windows has Event Viewer, but that's a fucking piece of shit and you know it) to see what went wrong.
>>
>>52481303
He seems like an idiot. I believe him.
>>
>>52480418
Then Linux based distros aren't for you, because they obviously don't work for you. Not for me though, I find them a lot better than windows or OSX
Also did you know more devices (including embedded devices) run Linux that windows or OSX because it's just THAT versatile. Just informing you.
>>
Wth do you people do to your Windows machines to reinstall it several times?
>>
You deserve it for thinking you could handle Arch, pleb.
>>
>>52483083
One day I started up my Windows 10 machine, logged in, and that was all I could do. None of my programs would open and the thing wouldn't shut down unless I held the power button. All I could do was open Windows Explorer or cmd.exe (though interestingly, none of the commands in cmd.exe worked).
>>
>>52482942
You must be literally retarded. Do you hold down the power button every time you turn off your computer? I had computers at work with issues related to a user doing that.

Speaking of which, the 5 windows computers at work that are all on Windows 7, and one on Windows 10 as a test, have zero issues whatsoever, despite a couple them being as old as coming with Vista when we got them. Haven't had to reinstall anything or do any crazy bug fixing since we installed W7 years ago.

These computers are used by the idiots that click the wrong download button on file websites, or who have opened exe files in email attachments.

Were running shitty computers too. These things were $400-$600 when we bought them.

So the fact that you can't use your one single computer without breaking it just shows your ineptitude.

Top kek. Same goes for you with GNU/Linux.
>>
The thing with Linux is that you spend far too long on Google trying to find out how to do shit. Found a bit of obscure software you need? Windows - Download .exe, install, job fucking done. Linux - open command line box, type out lines of cryptic bullshit to download and install to god knows where after wading through pages of Google search results to work out how the fuck you download shit from a fucking Web page. Rinse and repeat for pretty much everything you want to do on Linux.
>>
>>52483223

So why don' you just dual boot? Use Windows when you feel it's necessary; use LInux when you want to learn stuff about Linux.

You realize for a lot of us on /g/ what you are describing is enjoyable and rewarding right?
>>
>>52480418
Linux fucking sucks and what these kissless neckbeard virgins only have is technology and 4chan so they think linux is the best. Linux is the most unproductive OS unless you are running a server, designing or making a movie. It's full of errors and you spend most of your time googling it. These trolls saying linux is the best doesn't even know how to solve the problems, they also googled it. Saying do this do that it will fix it is all bullshit. If you try to fix something, another problem emerges which is fucking pathetic. Fuck linux fuck RMS fuck you /g/

What the fuck does that even mean?

Were you running a dual boot? Because that's the most common source of 'broken boot' issues.

That is one definition of free. In many other languages there are separate definitions for free as in cost and free as in freedom. French has gratis and libre.
