It works if you are not a power user I guess but I hate having the dock on the side and I find the toolbar at the top is a fucking waste of time. The dash is pretty nice though with how it has a universal way of getting to the menus.
Xfce has so many more options though. With compton and infinality it looks decent enough. I wish customising the Xfce menu wasn't such a fucking pain in the ass though.
Basically I wanted to emulate how I work on Windows with a bottom-left menu, a few app launchers and a taskbar like panel. I managed to get it kind of how I want now. It isn't perfect but it is very good for my needs.

Sadly, it takes 1 minute to take my laptop's temperature up to ~60°C on idle, on all distros I tried. Currently rericing Windows 8.1 to look like my old setup.
