>SSDs are cheaper than HDDs
wew

>SSDs are more reliable than HDDs
Depends on the application. SSDs are more resistant to physical shock while running, but they have a hard limit on lifespan, unlike HDDs, and they are more likely to fail suddenly. If all SSDs used SLC, they would be more reliable than HDDs, but very few do. The massive increase in cost per GB means that HDD storage is overall more reliable as you can make 10 copies for each copy on an SSD.

>LCDs are more reliable than CRTs
Depends on the specific models, but this is generally not the case. Admittedly, LCDs are easier to repair if something does go wrong, but few people ever repair their monitors.

The joke, I assume, is that all of those are better.

CD-DA has a higher fidelity than any vinyl can ever have.

USB is safely hot-pluggable, incredibly versatile and an absolute godsend: the only time I'd ever want PS/2 back is for easier N-key rollover, but that can be done fine over USB too with the correct handling. (Type-C is a better connector.)

LaserDiscs are of kind of reasonable quality, but big, unwieldy and incredibly expensive. But they're not the predecessor of DVD: Video-CD was, and that was an absolute piece of shit.

CRT versus LCD is more nuanced: but no CRTs would ever have been able to produce the high resolutions of today's best LCDs, or the sharpness, they use a ton more power, Rec.2020 or dynamic refresh would be impossible, and they flicker. You probably forgot just how flickery they are because it's been so many years since you used one, but believe me, eye-strain was a thing.

Except for bulk storage - and the drive you linked is not suitable for that, especially being a notorious crashy piece of shit with a spin-down problem - modern SSDs quite simply obsolete spinning rust completely. They are orders of magnitude faster at seeking, faster even at sequential reads and writes, use less power, and are more reliable: and the price is still coming down, to the degree that they have replaced hard disks for system disks in just about any modern PC build worth a damn.

>>
>>52480605

Format is A#B (or A##B for the doubly paranoid)

A is whatever you want your display name to be. It'll appear exactly as typed.

B is basically your password; what secures the the trip and makes it yours truly in order to prevent spoofing and impersonation by other anons, this is why whatever you type here gets hashed and output as some other seemingly nonsensical character sequence. There exist tripcode generating software which determine what the appropriate input text should be for some desirable output triphash, such as the one im using in this post which contains 'GNU'.

But please don't use these things just so your can forge yourself a chan personality. That kind of irritating attention whoring is frowned upon

>I'll pm you the fix ;)
>>
>>52476303
I'll give you SSD for the moment. However, that is going to change once good quality 1 TB SSD drives hit 200 or below.

Also, I don't know why people love CRT that much. The only thing it had over LCD was less input lag and that has been remedied over the last few years on flat panels.
>>
>>52481311
This. The lack of forum credentialism is the one thing that makes 4chan superior to a lot of other internet forums.
>>
>>52481294
It depends entirely on what bitrate the MP3 is compressed at.
>>
>>52481355
This is true. 320kbps MP3s can't be distinguished from lossless files by humans.
>>
>>52481389

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

USB input devices require the cpu to poll them, where ps/2 created hardware interrupts. This is commonly thought of as the better way to do this because it doesn't use cpu cycles for something you don't have to.

Im not defending them, im just laughing because like >>52483328 said, the irony of your outrage is clear to everyone else ITT but you

When they came out laserdiscs were a pretty fucking impressive technology. Not to mention they do include a few features not available in modern formats such as frame-by-frame.

They are on a website that thrives on anonymity and hive mind mentality, yet they are literally attempting to stand out in the crowd and claim they are a special snow flake and not just that, it also means they are creating a personality and living by that personality rather than posting the true responses they feel

Give a man a mask and they will reveal who they truly are. The anonymity of 4chan makes us the cess pool of filth we are, not because we are the social rejects but because we are what humanity truly is

Except not, its always the person bitching about trips that derails conversations.

How autistic is this thread.

Tripfags have a very short, finite purpose: to identify themselves.

It's meant for threads where it's absolutely necessary to have an identity, such as a general or The Falcon when he posts his logical increment charts. However, tripcodes are never meant as an alternative to registration as they are easy to crack and not at all in the spirit of the site.
