>he doesn't work on his own

I make 30€ per hour on Each computer.
I get 3-6 computers every week and I take about 1-2 hours on each.
So I make about 360€ on each computer and I always take a 15€ starter fee that is perishable on the final cost (which I never tell people if they don't ask) So i make about 450€ a week.
Considering I only work every other week I make about 900€ a month.

And this is only as a Hardware IT.

When I do networking jobs (I'm a Electronics Equipment and software technician and I am a Networking And Systems Technician) which i'm a literally glorified sysadmin without the certs I fix major networks and lay cable on buildings (In my country you have to get a special certification to do this and its very strict as fuck and if you don't do it well you're looking at +2k € in fines) I make about 6k € per job and jobs take about 2-3 days.

Lets face it OP your just bad at this.

My living cost is really low, I mostly still live with my family ( not by choice they need me since the Houses need alot of maintenance and they can't handle it because they work from 8-8 non stop and my grandma lives at home alone and she needs company).
That and having a Septic Pit with pumps that almost draw more power then the electric switchboard and whole load of shit that no one knows how to do I need to stay at home.

I mostly automated the procedures and fixed the eletrict switch board with more powerfull switches but considering I'm still 21 I don't really have a reason to buy a house.

But living expenses where I live are around 250€ a month.
I mostly spend 100€ because I know my way around taxes and not paying for shit.

In most of Europe, "IT" is an all-encompassing term which means everything related to computers. As such, being a developer is considered "working in IT". It doesn't just mean "people who crawl under desks to swap out dead hard drives and perhaps reimage them" like over in Murrika.
>>

You did this to yourself, family.
Couldn't you see there is a flood of foreigners ready to work for peanuts in IT? Can't you see IT continues to get outsourced in small and medium companies that don't need on site infrastructure as often as they did a decade ago? Can't you see the new trends in IT are byod which means there is less need for a dedicated staff to press reboot buttons and install adobe acrobat updates?

IT is literally the fridge repairman of the future
With today's byod culture, it continues to shrink as viable career option. IT processes that also relied on dedicated staff are getting abstracted into service packages that are automated.
>>
>>52474865
>>52475312
>>52475161
Except the trend is insourcing now, companies are realizing that it's very expensive to outsource everything; and are realizing that XYZ<as_a_service> was being pushed so hard because it made sense for the people selling the service (ie, they made money hand over fist).

You still need staff in medium+ sized corps/campuses, it's simply too expensive to rent network gear then pay a MSP to support all of the moves, adds, changes.

The stuff that will stay over seas is the code-monkey work, and server updates type stuff. Really though, this can be done by local entry-level people for less money, and you get a ROI for the company and local state, rather than outsource to some other country.
>>
>>52475640
>implying I'm a CS tard
The CS ship sailed years ago. Soccer moms are capable of doing a lot of the work these days. The important infrastructure that you would need CS for has already matured to the point where you don't need to hire a team full time to do development from scratch. Not to mention the filed is flooded with graduates because of the hype and "computerz are da fudure :DDD" meme.

No business that handles sensitive information would use BYOD. If anything, this means that IT becomes an 'elite' job, where you are trusted with the devices that handle the important jobs, as opposed to just one of the swarm of people who maintain the desktops and troubleshoot turned off monitors.

The rarefaction is a good thing as it means those with actual skill will be able to find jobs and the unskilled will be pushed out.

This is irrelevant if your cost of living is dirt.
I'm a sysadmin I live in the mid-west and make a little under 50k a year, people who live on the west coast or in large cities make anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times what I do but they also have rent and cost of living that's twice what I make in a month. where I can pay my required to live expenses out of a single pay check and the other is just fluff.

you say it's considered a good wage where you live, so tell me can you afford to live on it?

>>52475875
my area is kinda the same. the big problem that a lot of companies have is that they brew up completely insane job descriptions. I recently interviewed for a position where it turned out was about security triage and automation and project planning and selling those projects to management. Where the fuck are they expecting to find a total neckbear who is also a salesfag consultant? the job was pitched to me as a pure vuln triaging job.

I guess IT is lucrative in the US because people are really just that retarded about computers.
>>
>>52475868
>this means that IT becomes an 'elite' job, where you are trusted with the devices that handle the important jobs
Yeah, just like the "elite" faggots that are entrusted with server hardware that does these incredibly important sensitive jobs. Their paychecks sure do reflect the elite aspects of their job allright. Deloyment and management of devices is a cake relative to what it was years ago, even in large enterprise that does not fall for loose BYOD policies. BYOD, with the right management is the future. Maybe you see it as someone that brings a cum covered Pavillion with a compromised OS but it is actually much more controlled than that.
>>
>>52476123
This is about major paradigm shifts roughly every three decades. But to a certain degree you have a point, the "cloud" approach is similar to "mainframe returning with a vengeance", with mobile devices most likely increasingly functioning as "dumb terminals" in the future. It all goes back in the direction of taking the "personal computer" away from the user and again leave him only with I/O and a network connection to the "overlords".

Well, it's over staffed with the wrong people typically in the mid->upper management. People that have no real "computer" skills (servers, network, anything) making decisions about technology that they don't understand.

Time and time again, especially at the Senior Director and CIO level you'll have people with zero knowledge of technology just doing their time in the position because it's "their turn", and they needed a raise.

That's one of the major problems with IT in the US. Add ITIL on top of it and you're in for a some years of spinning wheels at 1000Mph.

The successful organizations don't view IT as a cost center, and actually realize that if executed properly (ie, GOOD Project Managers) IT saves a shit ton of money.
>>
>>52476228
Those who hired you aparently subjectively liked you enough to pay you that much. That's what it boils down to in the end.

That's about what my first real job looked like (retail computer repair/sales), but I had it while I was in college rather than after than after. my first job out of college was a little bit better, but I had the benefit of connections at the company.

Does that rent number include utilities?
Is that food number for actual food or are you eating out at lunch everyday? (not judging I used to/ do this, just asking)
having 100$ left over at the end of the month is nothing to sneeze at. Granted it's not as nice as having 1000+ left over, but you have to work with what you have.
I recommend you force some of it into savings (10-25$ a month) and don't touch it. This will give you the means to gtfo of your current situation when the time comes. Make no mistake that this will take some time.

>it this how living is supposed to be?
it is if you literally just got out of school, and have 0 pro experience, You have to prove yourself and build your resume for at least a year before you get the nicer Job.

If you're a programmer it's probably a bit different as I expect employers will want to see what you've helped build. Get your github account going and actually use it. find stupid projects to do and put them on there, find open source projects to contribute to. the sooner you can prove your competence through doing the easier it will be to find a real job.
>>
>>52476283
Whatever taxes you increase, it's the individual citizen that gets hit, because enterprise in repose to higher taxes simply rises prices.

>>
>>52476161
Saturation led to imbalance of supply and demand which had two fucked up effects, one it lowered wages for operational staff and when unions and government intervene, they simply outsource or bring in Indians.

There is no possible outcome where you come out on top with your degree and earn a decent living. I have seen people with small ideas making far more money than an MBA grad working on a managerial level.
>>
>>52476204
BYOG (garbage) is fine if the networks the consumer gear connects to is considered as trustable as the Public Internet and is treated as such. Essentially everyone connects to the guest network, people's work machines are VMs in Xen or something, and that's protected by a "real" security policy/infrastructure. (firewall+IDS/IPS with proper management).

It kinda works fine, but you need to draw a bold-face line of what you are willing to support and what SLAs you're going to deliver.

You want great throughput and 99.xx uptime? Sure, but all traffic is going through a proxy (transparent), torrents will be blocked and we're doing inspection on anything that's not encrypted and blocking all non-standard ports.

You don't to spend the money and want the network completely open? Sure, we'll allow torrents, script kiddies dos attacks, and bretty much all traffic, not have high overlap on the LAPs, and not offer AC.

OP...

40hrs/week would mean $360 before taxes for me.

So four weeks being roughly a month means they I'll gross in about 1440.

Taxes are like 15%, meaning that I would make a grand total of $1214.

I share your pain, anon. I live on Warsaw and after last elections I've started to worry about my country even more than during the last 8 years. Especially after they've announced their plans of raising taxes for companies. All companies, including Joe's Fucking Fruit Stand LTD. Fucking cucks don't understand that starting and maintenance cost of having your own business are already high as fuck, leaving space only for foreign investors that don't give a fuck and friends of the gov.

Btw, americunts, think you have it bad? Try running a business in Poland and survive for 5 years.
>>
>>52476071
Fucker, it's not that easy, moving away is an enormous cost. You might afford it, most of us are barely able to survive, let alone have some backup cash for changing the place you live in.
