Is it the browser that sucks or is it the web that sucks. Now I'm not oldfag enough, but I do think there was a time when the average webpage wasn't riddled with random bloated scripts, useless ads and complicated css layouts. Browsers will only get more and more bloated and slow to keep up with the ever expanding complicated mess the web is growing into.

It's the web that sucks. Specifically when web 2.0 happened. Turn on no-script and 3/4 sites break. There's far too much reliance on java instead of following the KISS principle.

Am I the only one that notices that in Linux, Firefox doesn't properly format boards on 4chan?

Chrome is pretty sweet right now. Don't know when but some time ago, they added an optional function to not load tabs unless you open them for the first time, so I can keep some YouTube videos open, some other websites close all tabs and when I start up chrome only the last tab I had open loads and no 6 YouTube tabs which start to scream

How is "millions and millions of loc" a negative. Supporting decades of web standards takes millions of lines of code, yes. The web is basically an operating system inside your existing OS nowadays, it's hardly surprising web engines are complex.

Having such ridiculous amounts of code severely limits the number of people with the time and skill to understand and work on it, to the point where it might as well be closed source and the potential for undetected bugs is much higher. Also, as demonstrated by some of the other engines on the list, those millions and millions of loc (eg Firefox is about 14mil) are about two orders of magnitude more than necessary.

Palemoon vs seamonkey.

Pale is lighter, more web browser. Seamonkey is trying to cram multiple programs into one, like mozilla suite. I don't need the built in ftp/irc etc. If that is all it has to offer then palemoon is the way to go.

But with pale moon will I have to go through the same processes of changing privacy measures that are required in FF (all the about:config telemetry, predictive loading etc) or do those features not exist or are already turned off?

Just trying to work out the full reasoning behind the need to switch if most bad features can be turned off in FF. Yes I get that mozilla will soon kill all that made it good years ago, but until then it just works.

It's not really about what browser you like anymore. It's about which one you can tolerate. I'm using Chromium, but Chromium doesn't have the option to delete all cache/history on exit. So my shortcut has "--incognito" which is not a perfect solution because Google still tracks you.
