What is a DAW?
Digital
Audio
Workstation

>What DAW is yours?

>How long you been on it?

>How long have you been into music?

>What genre do you play with the most?

>What Genre do you think you are best at?

>Have you thought about changing up to something else?

>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?

>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?

Bonus points:

>Has Senpai noticed you today?

1 simple rule I hope you can guys do, please don't be assholes to those who
have a different perspective on another DAW, no matter what it is or how shitty
it is. I know there are some very laughable ones out there but ya know...
So please just be as helpful as you can.

>this is /g/ not /mu/ gtfo

We do not talk about the music as it is but how it's created and what we use and how to help
others get better

Only recently made the jump from 2.8 to 3.1
>tfw glide/pitch commands still only work for samples and not for VST instruments
At least stacking samples and instrument-linked effect chains are now a thing

alright I'm trying to upload to clyp.it but Comcast seems to be throttling my upload speed to like 18 kilobits a second

Oh well, at least the difference between 2.8 and 3.1 is quite visible
Also,
>What DAW is yours?
Renoise 3.1
>How long you been on it?
About 8 years now
>How long have you been into music?
about fifteen years overall
>What genre do you play with the most?
french-style electrohouse á la Justice
>What Genre do you think you are best at?
Straight techno/dub techno
>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
I've done everything from producing beats for/with hip hop artists to full-blown band stuff anyways
>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
Audio Damage Basic, because it has some of the most beautifully clean yet warm sounding waves out there
Other than that, the Polysix VST is pretty damn great
>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
Yeah

Anyway, this is "Owari". It's a drum and bass track that I've been working on on and off for a bit over a year.
Honestly I don't even know what subgenre of DnB to call it.

Before anyone points out the obvious flaws in it, it's a WiP.

The biggest issue happens around 4:03. There's supposed to be a transition. There is none. I just haven't written it yet

Another thing is the mastering is abysmal. I started this November 2014 as a a one-off track so I used one of Ableton's preset mix/master plugins. However, it turned into something legit. Instead of doing the proper thing and fixing it before it got out of hand, I just went with it and now it sounds murky and cluttered as fuck.

Audacity, hands down. If you're looking for something that is both intuitive and sophisticated then you need not look any further. I've been producing on audacity for many years now and I'm about to be famous because of it. What more could you ask for?

Demo version has almost everything besides rendering songs. And since you have to ask questions like that, it's likely too complicated for you anyways.

I'm on Linux using Renoise, have been since 2.1. The growth of this DAW is absolutely insane.

I don't use any VSTs so I have no idea how much pain that may bring you, but also its the plugin's responsibility to configure the glide, as with the pitch. You can access the plugin parameters in the pattern editor as well. http://tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/Effect_Commands#Device_Commands
>>
>>52463459
>"I use audacity to make music"
Anyone who does is a fucking retard
>>
>>52463186
Quit being a nigger, anyways the demo is very well featured unlike DAW demos similar to FL that prevents you from accessing your previous saves.

If you were so curious you should've checked tpb or kat in fhe first place.

Are you perhaps referencing the instr. Automation and Midi control? Since I actually understand what >>52462792 is getting at. And it's not the exact thing that we'd want.

Switching to a numeric parameter instead of the natural alphabet combination is really disappointing to say the least, and breaks the natural thought of hey 0gXX will glide this vst's pitch easy.

Also yeah I agree this growth is absolutely crazy! So much cool stuff since they made redux, though I'm sticking with 3.0 until I finish my ep's. I definitely used the comb filter and all other dsp's that have changed in 3.1.
