Why even encrypt your drives unless you're doing something wrong?
>nobody wants to steal your 100tb of anime, gay beastaility porn, incest fetish stories and useless Linux distrobutions

Maybe your computer gets stolen and someone gets a hold on all your private keys which would mean access to production server with a lot of private data on them?

It's not like you have to enter a password more than once per session.

I mean... this isn't a concern for a lot of people.

I don't expect many people to see or care about what I have on my hard drives

Bad excuse to mask your horde of pizza

must be nice being rich and live in a place where cultural enrichment isn't a possibility

to protect my customers' documents, it's enforced by law here, you can get in some really serious deep shit if your pc with your customers' informations get stolen, whether I use this pc to also watch hentai and read doujinshi that's a different matter and it's none of your concerns, nsa shill.

Laptop thieves. Corporate secrets. Privacy of yourself and others.

It even makes throwing old hard drives away easier as you dont have to destroy the drive anymore as all data is locked away anyway.

And why wouldnt you encrypt? There is not a single imaginable reason.

Literally anyone can boot into an unencrypted drive.

I do. I want to steal it. If i get my hands on your hard drive filled with anything remotely interesting, i will store it.
And i did find some interesting shit when people gave me their computers to repair.

Don't have anything worth hiding, but nothing that I really want to show people either.

And full-disk encryption is a simple 'once and done' operation, so no real reason not to.

Why are your private keys not encrypted with a password?

Corporate secrets and passwords.

Why lock your front door nobody wants your shitty furniture, tvs or outdated appliances.

Imagine if you suddenly died and your parents/family are going trough your hard drives for some last memories and they found all kind of random porn and hentai, why not protect your parents from the horrible last memory of their son?

Harder to recover data?

Right now my backups, which I store at home, aren't encrypted.
Only the SSD's in my laptop.

Should I encrypt my backups?

Probably not a bad idea.
