Why haven't you bought a Google Cardboard viewer yet, /g/? They cost 2 dollars on eBay, and they're pretty damn cool.

kek, no.
it works on my blackberry z30 fine, anon. also, there's ios support too.
>>
>>52452519
i made one from random lenses i had in my shelf.
Cool gimmick, but it's not giving this feeling of "being there" like rift does. So, it's like VR without VR. Definitely worth two dollars though.

Is there anyplace you can go online and stream 3d movies to VR? Mainstream theatrical releases, not demo-ware stuff.

My phone is too shitty.
>>
>>52452519
Because I don't have an app phone.
>>
>>52454255

Are you implying there's anything wrong with sucking dicks? That is very problematic in the current year, anon.

do you really think they are gonna spy on you with a piece of fucking carboard?
>>
>>52452519
I have one and there's nothing to do with it aside from a bunch of a bunch of apps that you play around with for five minutes and then forget about.

>$20 for cardboard
>>
My girlfriend got me one as a gift. Pretty fun to mess around with, though the only thing that's decent right now is vr porn, and it's still limited.
>>
I had a cardboard, it was pretty shit.

Got Gear VR and its a world if difference. you really get the immersion feeling with it.

im psyched for Rift.

PS porn is good.
>>
>>52452519
But I have.
In fact it just arrived today via air mail from Beijing to Frankfurt, so it will probably be here next week.

Is there any plastic Cardboard that comes close to the Gear VR?

It bums me that I can't use the 1440p display of my LG G3 with a non-shit headset like the Gear VR.
>>
>>52455823
I think gear vr has its own motion sensor, too, so it tracks better than using the one in your phone
>>
I have a 800x600 5" display hdmi display. Would it be shit?

Do i need better resolution? Any tips what to get?
>>
>>52452519
what is this - third world version of VR?
>>
>>52452519
Mine were free from mini :) not very useful except as a party trick.
>>
>>52452519
my note 4 doesnt fit in the google cardboard with my otterbox on it so ive only used it once because i dont like taking my phone out of its case.

i may 3d print one that can accomodate my case though and install openheadtracker and try some pc vr with it
>>
>>52455687
And the lenses.
>>
Does this work well with the Nexus 4? Which specific model should I go for? (Even though they're based on roughly the same template, I assume some use better lenses and are more thoughtfully assembled than others.)

Bought it on a auction on ebay for 0.27$
Nice for porn.

So I got one of these on Amazon, and brought it with me when I went back to university last week.

Was messing around with the thing a bit and started to show it to some of my fraternity brothers. Most of these guys don't know much more about technology than how to use their iphone, but I was surprised to see them all get blown away by google cardboard.

And seeing these guys who are not at all powerusers getting excited about this shit made me realize that VR is probably gonna spread to a more general audience than I thought.

Also we took molly and were using it and that shit is cash.

Tried Gear VR with a GS6 and cardboard with a 2014 Moto X and there's barely a difference
>>
>>52455269
an app phone? You mean a phone? are you still using an old fashioned dumbphone?
>>

>would it be shit?

It would look like a stadium monitor from two feet away
>>
I'm actually curious.

I got a Zenfone 2, and I'm thinking of getting a slightly better thing that only a cradboard.

Anyone got a VR BOX 2 ?
>>
Bought one from Clas Olsen for £5, its cool but I can't get the bloody calibration right
>>
>>52458485
Whats the resolution i should go for then?
>>
Can you use these things for longer than five minutes without eye strain? Specifically I'm thinking of the "virtual cinema" apps, would be neat to watch some anime or something on a convincing huge screen.
>>
>>52458563
minimum 1080p, but you would still see individual pixels (at least on AMOLED displays)

4k is ideal, but unless you have a Z5 then don't bother
>>
>>52457874
rip tomochin ;-;
>>
>>52452519
I got a star wars set for free, thanks google
>>
I semi regret my LG G4.

It's a great phone built an inferior VR device to the S6.

If the S7 truly does bring back MicroSD, I can take the sacrifice of a worse phone for superior porn viewing.

>Can you use these things for longer than five minutes without eye strain?
5 minutes? How did you last that long?
By keeping your eyes closed?
>>
>>52460803
Haven't used one. But I'm pessimistically assuming they're eyestrain-y.
