What happened?
>>
>>52443980
It was shit.
>>
>>52443980
It's a low powered phone with a tiny screen that you wear on your head. And it cost 1500. Not worth it for the novelty
>>
People didn't want the literal death of privacy.;
>>
>>52443980
An overpriced novelty that for some reason made everyone butthurt about privacy concerns while they simultaneously sold themselves to advertising companies and plastered photos of themselves all over the internet anyway.
>>
>>52444173
Here's your (you)
>>
Beer goggles wore off.
>>
>>52444213
Not him but it's true.
The media killed it imo. There was too much bad press which influenced the masses aka sheep.
>>
>>52443980
Nobody wants to be considered a(n) (gl)asshole.
>>
>What happened?

Google suckered people into lining up to pay $1500 to alpha test and brainstorm uses for the device.
>>
>>52443980
It was the next-gen bluetooth

Nobody wants to look like they're talking to no one in public.
>>
>>52444213
Were you under a rock or something while that shit was going on? There were people getting butthurt and banning the device in businesses before it even went live for its exorbitant price.
>>
>>52443980
>What happened?

Wearers grew weary of being punched out.
>>
people will only use it if its sold at wallmart
>>
>>52445481
I don't follow the jewstream news
>>
>implying it won't return in a few years just looking like normal glasses, with everything hidden inside the frame
>>
People generally don't like being videotaped.

Jewgle blamed the media.
>>
luddites
>>
>>52445734
>Come on! It's 2014!
>>
>>52443980
they didn't market it correctly to normals
some people did not want head mount surveillance cameras/tracking devices

You're likely to see them in enterprise in the coming years and after they get normalized there they will probably try releasing the consumer line again
>>
Nothing happened.

That's the problem.
>>
>>52443980
A pure novelty item whose uses were limited and vulnerabilities apparent when compared to the smartphone.
>>
>>52443980
Hey, I had forgotten about this fad. Funny how this product was all hype with no payoff.
>>
>>52443980
Lazy eyes generator 9000+ I suppose.
>>
>>52446045
watch oculus turn into this.. what was the name of this project again?
>>
>>52446071
It's pretty much already there.
>>
Not a single person mentioned overheating, instability, or shit battery life?
>>
>>52445688
make them prescription and have some more apps made with them in mind and I would want some...
>>
>>52443980
>No features.
>Lousy interface.
>Could only check mail and take pics.
>Can't play porn or videos.
>Looks gay.

I don't know, you tell me...
>>
>>52444233
So I assume you have gotten one then?
>>
>>52444046

The real problem with wearable tech is that it will electrically shock people and possibly kill some people.

>also LAWSUITS!
>>
>>52446071

People could die wearing Oculus.

They will literally forget to eat, move, possibly even stop breathing. It will literally be a coma machine.
>>
>>52444046
That's not quite it. People don't give a shit about their privacy so long as it's violated in a non-obtrusive way. Glass was very obtrusive. Google said that they had the ability to make Glass invisible. That's what they should have done.
>>
>>52448959
>5V
>hurt and kill people
Wat
>>
I tried one pair at work. Clumsy, useless meme.
>>
>>52449090

>gets a 5v shock on their eyelid while driving

c'mon man.
>>
It's too conspicuous. I'd love smart glasses that look good. It's like a smart watch the size of a brick. Sure, you have a phone on your wrist, but you still look like a retard.

If you couldn't tell smart glasses apart from regular ones, I'd buy em
>>
>Jewishly smirks as I give them a tap and start recording you in the shower
>>
>>52443980
Too high expectations plus retarded price. It's really painful when you expected hurr durr virtual reality iron man HUD and got small rectangle somewhere in corner of your vision.

>>52444046
"People" would gladly trade their privacy for 5% discount in convenience store. Mainstream don't give a flying fuck about privacy.
>>
Test
>>
The authorities didn't like the idea of their behavior being documented at all, got banned in so many places it became almost impossible to use them
>>
>>52449150
getting a 5v shock wouldn't even be noticeable when paired with a pissweak current. you realise how pissweak 5 volts is alone right?
>>
>>52444330
> a(n) (gl)asshole
> a asshole
> an glasshole
You're doing it wrong.
>>
What if Google partnered with Nintendo and bundled it with the coming Pokemon World?
>>
>>52450586
I mean Pokemon Go!
>>
>>52449525
kekkel my shekel
>>
>>52450586
I still wouldn't care because I don't play video games literally made for children.

it's was never meant to be a finished product. It was just an alpha test. How does /g/ not know about this
>>
>>52444046
Pretty much:
>>52448992

Google glass brought to people in a way their monkey brains could understand what google was doing to them every day anyway.
Google was confused about the reaction to them because it's not any different to what google does to you online and through pictures you take on your smartphone.

It's not any more privacy breaching than google's usual activities, but what makes it different is that it's literally in your face.

By the way, the project hasn't died, google just pulled it for further development. Google is still working on these devices, and they're going to keep trying until people accept them.
>>
>>52448969
You are vastly overestimating how good the rift is mate.
>>
>>52444046
Privacy isn't such a big deal if no one has it and society decides to be less judgmental of stupid, victimless transgressions.
