Need some answers /g/ got caught trying to leave work with an SSD and was going to be fired until one of my cowrokers told me i could resign and leave a letter saying i'm basically quitting to find work elsewhere. I told my manager and he seemed to be okay with the idea, so basically i had two options either i quit on good terms or let them fire me with bad letter.I filled the letter of resignation and everything seems to be okay while i start looking for work elsewhere, will this bite me in the ass when using previous job as reference? I hear they can't give out any of that information since i went with the quit option instead of being fired. I was pretty cool with my manager and supervisors i left on good terms with them, thoughts? I know I'm a piece of shit for it and will never do such a thing again after leaving warehouse with everyone knowing what I have done very embarrassing, never again
Am i fucked for life or can i move on with this hard lesson?

In the US, yes. If they bad talk you, then you can sue them for defamation.

He can't. To get unemployment ypu have to be fired for something that isnt your fault. Layoffs or improper firing are the two main reasons.

It's technically true. Some employers will ignore this, and there's very little that you can do about it. It's your word against theirs, unless the third party they talked to will testify on your behalf, but it's not like they would typically have any incentive to. Most of the time they wouldn't even bother to tell you why you were not hired in the first place, or at best tell you that they filled the position with someone more qualified, which would cover their own asses legally.
