Why does /g/ hate AMD CPUs so much?

Is it because Libreboot isn't supported anymore?

No that's a proprietary firmware issue
>>
I don't hate AMD CPUs. Intel is truejew

But if we never make open source CPUs, we'll be fucked forever
>>
What do you mean not supported anymore? Once AMD became aware that a free firmware could be used with their hardware, they made further rehashes inherently incompatible with open firmware, or the people responsible for supporting the AMD branch of libreboot haven't developed anything for the latest of AMD cpus?
>>

Who were the companies that were supporting lowRISC now... I know Google was one of them
>>
>>52432111
They're lame and don't excite me, plus their fanboys are annoying as fuck.
>>

I don't, they used to make nice stuff. The stuff available right now was mediocre at best at release and it's now 4 years old so I don't recommend them.

Hopefully Zen can change this.
>>
libreboot isnt supported on intel either....

I like getting jewed by intel

That's an official manga.

How lewd.

The 8350 is old now, and AMD milked the shit out of it by releasing that shitty overclocked version and the lower power E version, all objectively worse than an i5.

I still use my 8350 in a separate PC designated as a "family PC" and for video encoding. My main PC has an i5-4690 that's better in every single way. The Zen chips really needed to come out sooner than the end of this year. I'm afraid it might end up being too little too late.

/g/ doesn't hate AMD

AMD just hasn't produced a new processor since 2012. They just re-brand the old chips and increase the clock by 5-10%. The last decent processor AMD produced was the FX 6300/8350/9590 where were essentially the same micro architecture with different gift wrap. They're still competitive today and a great way to save money on a gayming build.

AMD is just miles behind intel. Its too the point that the savings of an AMD core system don't even make price to performance sense for compute heavy loads.

Implying Intel has made great advancements since 2012
>>
>>52434763
Well that's true, but the thing is, intels processors in 2012 were great, and they haven't improved much on great.
AMD's processors in 2012 were mediocre, and AMD hasn't improved much on mediocre.
Ignoring bulldozer which was worse than the Phenom IIs
>>
I don't hate them.

I just bought an intel processor recently as a recommendation. Don't be hatin.
>>
>>52434802

I agree with you, however to me the speed of Intel over AMD isn't useful. Maybe it is to you but I know way too many people who think they need best stuff when they don't.
>>
>>52434920
Well when I can get a used i5-2500 for $70 it's a better buy than a new 8350.
>>
They're just... slow? I don't know, unless AMD can come up with a processor that can match the performance of, let's say a haswell i5, I can't see any reason to go AMD now.
>>
Less open sores than Intel
>>
>>52434930
I've been using the same computer since 2011 and I see no reason to upgrade. $70 is cheap tho, maybe I'd get it if not for Intel ME or if it didn't cost 3 times that where I live.
