How can i get internet in my bedroom?

I still live with my mom and i run a ethernet cable all the way through the house from the office into my room. How can i get rid of the cable and still have a good connection?
>>
>>52431819
Kill yourself
>>
The only way to get a good connection is with a cable. You can get wireless but it won't be a good connection.
>>
>>52431837
This.
>>
>>52431837
Patch pannels and run through the roof easy anon
>>
Powerline adapters are a decent compromise, otherwise runs cables through the walls.
>>
>>52431819
Does your place have a crawlspace?
>>
>>52431946
no it doesnt :(
>>
Homeplug/powerline.. No fuss, no muss.
>>
>>52431970
Does the officer computer get serious usage? Go wireless in the office and move the router to your room.
>>
>>52431970
Try running the cable through the air vents, We did that from the router in the living room to my office downstairs below it and it worked well.
>>
if it is a house, running a cable over the ceiling is a quick and easy solution.
If you lied in your initial post and your mom rent an apartment, just fasten the cable with either clips or place a cable tray along the ceiling.
If you decide to put an access point in your room so you get wifi, fine but if "all the way" is further than 20m, I wouldn't depend on wireless all the way.

If you are both retarded, lazy and hate money, use a powerline adapter.
>>
>>52431819
Don't listen to all posts above
Unless you're an EPIC GAMER XD with RAZER GEAR and GAMER FOOD and GUNNARZ, 100ms of latency won't make a difference. Just buy a router, buy a network card and fucking enjoy not being the most aspergers cunt in town using ethernet in 2016.
>>
>>52431819
Hire a network technician.
Tell him to pass cables and install wall sockets and switches.
>>
Same problem in my house... router is downstairs, i just use a Wlan repeater half the way up.. works pretty gud.
>>
>>52432026
it sorta does. my other is a college professor but teacher online classes so she needs decent connection
>>
>>52432080
can u explain this a little? im a dumb cunt. so i can buy another router and just go from that to my pc?
>>
>>52432080
This desu. I use wi-fi and I still have ms as low as 40 ms in online games. I'm sure it could be faster, but it's never a problem.
>>
I'm in the same position as you, and I use a router flashed with dd-wrt to get wifi.
>>
Install the cable properly, wifi is for fucking simps.
>>
>>52432080
Desperate wifi retard detected, enjoy your unstable connection and mental diarrhea.
>>
>>52432080
>>52432449
lol fuck off, just because you're shit at the games and can't notice it doesn't mean other people are as bad as you. If you just wanna use it to navigate the net and do your shit then go on, but don't pollute online games with your shitty WiFi.

Get this anon. Literally plug and play.
>>
>>52434516
that wont work, OP sounds like a poor fag living on welfare.
>>
>>52434603
There's nothing wrong with living on welfare so long as you don't reproduce.

What this guy said

I use one to get connectivity to my NAS down in the basement. Works perfectly.
>>
>>52434615
If only they listened...
>>
>>52434617
Literally have the same PowerLine and drops connection randomly every few hours. Did I get a defective product or is my isp shit? Suppose to be getting 30mbps but drops to 25 on powerline
>>
>I can't play games with wireless LAN
kek, I bet you have a killer nic too :^)
>>
How safe is the powerline shit really?
Does it have encryption similar to WPA2?
>>
>>52434799
My PowerLine works in my friends house who buildings away
>>
>>52434799
>WPA2
what the fuck

this is too much even for /g/
its not even summer yet
why is this happening????
>>
>>52434827
That's not a good thing.
>>

>>
>>52434772
your house's wiring is probs old and shit
>>
>>52434852
are you fucking retarded?
do you seriously think POE has any encryption at all??
>>
>>52432554
KEK sitting at 95% signal rating through my bedroom door, and pinging router at 1-2ms, gaming at under 20ms on valve servers.

Get fucked with your endless cords
>>
>>52434897
Why the fuck would anyone use it if it had none? The signal doesn't magically stop at your hose wall. And no, I never used it before, that's why I was asking
>>
>>52434924
the same reason people use RJ-45.
>>
>>52434934
RJ-45 is not directly to a grid.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned wi-fi repeaters yet.

speed degradation.
>>
>>52431891
This is what I do. TP Link (I think) for $30 bucks. You get a pair of adapters. It's a hell of a lot faster, for me, than wifi.
>>
>>52431891
This. I use it on my room and it's pretty based. I get 75%-80% of the speed I'd get from an ethernet cable straight to the router. Would buy again.

Whats wrong with the cable? does it looks ugly?
Use those to hold it in place, hide it below the carpet

if thats not enough use corner ducts and cord channels
>>
>>52432080
>or use gaming consoles that rely on 2.4 GHz bands for extra fail from crowded channels
I would never stoop to wifi for gaming due to the need of reliable packet sending and receiving.
>>
You can get really thin ehternet cable, its worked well for me!

>How can i get internet in my bedroom?

Run wire in a better way.

If your house has a basement, or crawlspace, you can use it. If not, an attic run may work.

Or if you have conduit that runs conveniently.

Last resort is along the outside of the house.

Failing that, WiFi and PLNA.
>>
>>52435022
I use a wifi repeater for my parents' room and it works great for their needs. They don't care about latency, they only browse the internet every now and again. It cuts the speed in half, though which is to be expected.

Holy shit, I am so glad I looked at this thread, I never heard of such a thing.
For about 4 years now I've been using my current solution to get internet when my room is a floor above the router. I took my old linksys router and turned it into a wireless access point which I connect my PC into. It gets me internet at reasonable speeds, but often times goes super slow and once in a blue moon cuts out. My speeds range from 10.4mbps down on its best days, about 20% of the time, all the way down to 2.4mpbs down and lower on its bad days, 30% of the the time.
I am ordering one right now, for only $30 I don't have much to lose. Thanks.
>>
>>52437702
they work fucking great.
i've put one of these between FTTH box and a router to move my internet. 100% stable for 2 years.
>>
>>52432080
>wanting shit download speeds
With my router, ethernet provides at least 5MB/s while wireless is 1MB/s
