No OC thread?
New to OCing and pic related is best I could do before instability. How do I go further? Can I?
How do I into voltage?
Actually I sometimes get this mad peak in power consumption that crashes the vidya I'm running to test OC (TW3). Should I tone it down?

Thanks for bumping my thread (albeit with another meme).

you're welcome

Fans at 100% all the time? Must be loud. What happens if you drop your voltage?
>>
>>52403273
If you're getting any crashes at all, your overclock isn't stable. The Witcher 3 isn't even a good stress test really. If you own Tomb Raider, use the built-in benchmark with 4x SSAA enabled. That will crash an unstable overclock with no survivors every time. My 780 passed Valley, Heaven, Firestrike and everything else at 1202MHz, but crashed in seconds in Tomb Raider. Had to dial it back about 40MHz to be 100% stable.
>>
>>52403273
What temps are you getting under load? Also what kind of cooler do you have?
>>
>>52405134
Don't own it sadly, but from the sound of it even if your OC wasn't 100% stable it was going to work fine almost all the time.
>>
>>52405213
Asus Strix. Around 64 degrees C at 100% load.
>>
>>52405236
Yeah, but it means there's a possibility that it could crash at any moment. Maybe you're right in the middle of something important when it happens. Or at least as important as muh gaymes get.

>Zotacs crash on any sort of overclock
>Tried to flash my Zotac 970s with nvflash because fuck the power limit.
>Flash fails, it doesn't do anything and kicks out before the flash
>The Zotac software does the same thing

At least the processor can go 5GHz...
>>
>>52405297
Yeah, that could be annoying. 40Mhz dial back for complete stability isn't much I suppose.

Awful meme, if you got the 4gb one then it's a 970 tier meme.

Running it at 1522 with a voltage of 1.2875 and a power limit of 320W+, can't remember the exact number. G1 970 by the way
>>
>>52405346
>1522
Teach me senpai. Why's my max power limit 120% compared to your 150% for example?
>>
>>52405456

Bios modifications. Depending on how solid your power delivery and cooling is, you can increase the power draw by quite a bit.
You can either dump your current bios with GPU-Z and mod it yourself with Maxwell Bios Tweaker (1.36 is fine), or you could download a premade bios and flash it with Nvflash.
My powertable apparently lets me draw up to 348W as I increased the PCI-E power delivery to 105W from 75W, and the 8PIN to 187W
>>
>>52405590
>up to 348W
Wew, not sure if my shitty 550W Corsair PSU could manage. Any risks to enabling that much power draw?
>>
>>52404946
Actually I just only had them at 100 normally around ~40%
And I don't know. I keep it there for saftey
>>52405341
It's the 960 ssc 2gb
>>
>>52405776

Well, the power you're drawing at that level is outside the PCI-E specifications by quite a bit, but I haven't noticed any issues after running it for about half a year or so.
Also it's worth to mention that it rarely draws that much in normal applications.

Assuming you have a G1 970 you can flash the bios found in this thread, it's the one I'm currently using.

Also note that I have my core clock reduced by 10 MHz in MSI Afterburner to keep it stable.

This is highest I can push 290 crossfire on air. 90c on 50% fan. 122 fps on Valley Extreme HD preset, 25k graphics score on firestrike.

I got a single card up to 1180 gpu, 1700 mem. The heat output and fan noise with two is just magnitudes greater.

I'd like to see what I can hit just maxed out with 100% fixed fan but for some reason every crash something is saving a OC profile without the voltage increase causing the screen to bug out when it boots into windows until the cards are reset in safe mode.
