Win Key(Meta Key) + Directional Buttons.

Delete Key.

Home, End and directional buttons all move the cursor around. Adding Ctrl to them makes Home go to the beginning of the document, End go to the end of the document and directional buttons skip whole words. Shift highlights text from the cursor's current location to where you move it to with the directional keys/Home/End. You can also add Ctrl to the mix and select large chunks.
I rarely use Ctrl+A. I just press Ctrl+Home followed by Ctrl+Shift+End.
