Shazam is spyware at this point. Just look at the permissions requirements. SoundHound is a little better though.

Terrible reviews from the Shazam shills. I hate all of them, if you just type "what's this song" into Google it usually gets it
The Google sound search widget is pretty good too, might be installed already.

>teacher was chill and only deducted 1p from 10 maximum

so the results are:
shazam spotted 2 songs out of 4 i could do before bust took many tries however
trackid 1/4 solid result
soundhound didnt get any
just my personal observation, you can draw your own conclusions
cortana is the best
I try to use the Google one first.
Just ask it: What song is this?
or you can use Soundhound, but I usually use that as a fallback.

Just use Google search. Hit the mic, of our hears music a blue note will appear. Tap the note and it tells you the song. Works really well. I use it for EDM music often.
