How long until we get some feedback on the Redmi 3?

itt we wonder if the redmi 3 will have a decent DAC so it won't go straight to the trash but instead ascend to godly levels

What is/are the best phones that are
>Root able
>Decent battery life
>Decent res, but not meme levels of ppi
>Under 5.1 size

Upgrading from an s5

I'm thinking about a OnePlus X. If you're in the US band 12 might be a problem though. I'm considering buying one (eurofag) but i'm not totally sure yet.
>>
Anyone have experience with Marshall London?

>tfw carriers here don't sell any cheap, small androids with good specs, all is some 5"+ garbage I don't want
>>
With the specs of the galaxt tab s 8.4 , it should be nexus 7 level smooth, but it is not..I disabled the bloat and now using nova launcher, but when I open any app , it lags for a noticeable moment.. And I think I know why , it is the screen resolution, it is 1600*2560.. I don't need such high level since I don't watch videos or do gaming.. Will lowering it improve performance or increase battery life ?
If so , how do I know what resolution is safe ( won't cause a bootloop ), since I once tried lowering the dpi and it stuck in a loop( read it can happen with resolution too ) .

PLZ HLP, I AM A NOOB
>>
>>52382815
Also forgot to add that MicroSD support is a must.

In the US with Verizon, so they would probably find a way to buttfuck me with that phone. Anything on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of price, though?

Poor euro-fag here , is there any decent phone i would be able to buy under 120 euros? Battery durability and performance would be good , but i would buy anything as long as it isnt a complete crap.

Ultra-poorfag here, what's a decent phone (sub $200) to use with a MVNO like Ringplus or FreedomPop?

Still haven't gotten it yet.

People say it overheats when under long time stress (Movies/Games for hours)

The snap dragon 810 aparently has BAD throttling problems.

Because Qualcomm didn't have 64-bit custom cores to release in time after Apple released the A8. So they had to use an off-the-shelf solution which proved to be absolute crap and ruined many flagships in the past year.

You might be able to help: I'll be traveling a lot between NZ and France this year, and my first-gen Galaxy Note is beginning to show its limits. I want to replace it with a dual sim LTE phone, so I was looking at the Redmi Note 2
Do I have to look for something concerning networks ? I remember older phones being somewhat region-locked due to variations of networks standards across the globe, but is it still the case ? Could this phone work in LTE in NZ ?
Also, are there better alternatives in this price range (~150€) ? Should I get a Note 3 instead (~220€) ?
>>
>>52387367
I guess that's your best option if you want a good device in that pricerange. No idea how much spyware is on those things tho (in the os itself and the firmware). They are too cheap to be true IMO. Especially looking at the upcoming redmi 3

I know it's a bad moment to buy one but i've been using my flip phone for over a year and i want something to browse and listen to music when i'm out. Any price even though i'd prefer under 350€.
OnePlus X seems nice but it's 295€ with shipping and i don't know if it's worth it, i heard it lags a bit.

OPX buyer here, got it about a week ago. It's so slippery (like, frictionless) it slid and fell off a flat table four times in the first day without me touching it. By day 4 the glass back had a crack in it from a half foot drop into tiling, again from sliding away on its own. It's a nice phone with CM12.1 (save an airplane mode issue that breaks gps), very much worth it for the price, but get a damn cover or skin for it.
>>
>>52400676
z3 compact user here. same as the z3 except screen size and ram.

they've mostly left android itself alone, except for a sony launcher and keyboard - which you do not have to use.

there are a few junk apps, which can be disabled. there are some good ones like stamina mode, smart connect and track id.

they have a marshmallow beta program - limited to 10,000 people, but it seems you can install it anyway with no voiding warranty -

>>
>>52386031
Bought it myself about 2 months ago (payed 270). After the latest updates the heating issues aren't much of a problem anymore. It gets warm but I haven't really noticed any throttling.

Main issue with it is the screen, it's got some really ugly yellow stains on it mostly visible on grey backgrounds. Also the "healing" backcover doesn't really work all that well and the camera is really subpar compared to most 2015 flagships. If you can live with those caveats though it's a ridiculous bargain.

Serious question, how do you people justify buying a phone over $200 that doesnt have a removable battery? You're buying an expensive as fuck phone with planned obsolescence in place
>>

yeah. fucking smart phone companies got the consumer by the balls rn

top half of the digitizer on my z3 compact broke, what do /g/? I'm contemplating just buying a replacement z3c but I've been out of the loop on newer phones for a while so that's probably a bad idea. Any suggetions? I liked the smaller size of it, and the battery life was really nice.

Hey anons. I'm conflicted. I'm switching networks soon, and I'll have to give back my Nexus 6. I loved the phone. It was such a solid phone. It never failed me. The battery life was really the only gripe I could possibly have with it. I'm switching over to Verizon because AT&T has just become a piece of shit over the years.

I'm conflicted now. Do I just get the Nexus 6 again with Verizon? I've been thinking about the Droid Turbo 2. I've heard great things about it and I like that you can customize it. I heard that it has a better battery life which is a huge selling point for me.

I don't care much that it might not be running the latest version of android. That never bothered me. It has Lollipop has everything that I need.

So, which phone, anons?
>inb4 they're both a shit
>>
>>52392429
z5 premium
>>
>>52411123
The Turbo 2 looks good on paper, but the fact it's a carrier-specific phone is real shit. It'll probably turn out the same way the Galaxy S6 Active did
>>
>>52411243
I agree, I really dislike it when they make a phone carrier exclusive, I feel like it should be available on all carriers but hey, let's all just try to follow the iPhone business model from 2007 to 2011 and try to be just as successful.

Regardless, that isn't a worry of mine since I plan on staying with Verizon. It's a shitty business practice but I just want a good phone with a good battery life.

I don't really play games on the phones either, nothing besides some light puzzle games. Nothing too graphic intensive. I usually just listen to music, call, text, and video chat via Skype.

It just seems like all I need, but the problem is the Nexus 6 is bigger, which I'm a fan of, and it has stereo speakers. So I don't quite know how to feel about it all.

one thing xperia phones are good at their battery management is absolutely god tier.

>>
>>52391169
Yeah, if you can still find a new one somewhere, though you have to be careful since any unsold stock might include refused returns.

I found one at about 300 bucks, it's my first modern smartphone and it's a great phone, a classic that will most likely look cool for years to come.

Make sure you get the 32gb model because not all apps can be moved on the msd card.

The phone does have a flaw, the camera is not much to talk about. Everything else is awesome, if you got a fully functional unit.

Don't expect a big phone, it's a classic medium-sized slate. The build quality is unparalleled, though.
>>
Can anyone answer me this. Why the hell doesn't the Moto X Pure Edition have any ROM support, I mean it doesn't even have Cyanogenmod support...

What gives. The only ROMs that are on XDA are poo in loo trash.
>>
Huawei phones only have exclusive EMUI roms available, no custom roms. Are Xiaomi phones the same?
>>
Don't buy a Windows based phone, made that grave mistake. Unless you want no apps.

Nexus 6 owners - is it too big? I have pretty long fingers, current nexus 5 feels too small and the 6 felt fine in the store, but does it get annoying to use? Does it fit fine in your pocket?
>>
>>52412508
Yeah check the seller thoroughly. Check feedback, check if their location matches the location of the item, read carefully the item description, you know, basic stuff.

Personally I avoided buying from Asia, since I've heard some very different stories on how reliable sellers are. I prefer buying from sellers who have online ebay stores with a big supply. It's those sellers who have tens of thousands of sold items. The closer to 100% positive feedback they are, the better.

I bought an op2 the other week in black Friday sales and after 2 weeks the USB C connector has gotten incredibly loose. I've contacted support but you all know how that goes. They've offered to arms a replacement after asking for a picture of my cable but they didn't specify if they were sending a cable or a handset. I doubt they'd send a handset. This exchange was before new years and I've not heard back since asking what they planned to send me.

Should I find a phone repair shop in my city or just keep waiting? Charging had become a difficult task because slightly moving the phone unplugs it.
>>
Should I wait for the next samsung S7 or get the google nexus 6p and save up around 1000 AUD (about 700 USD)
or get the latest xiaomi ( about 300 USD?) from aliexpress or China when I go to Shanghai for work later this month?

Why are phones so expensive now? do they justify the price? I use my phone a fuckload though for replying to emails/ messenger and pdf reading/annotating on the go
>>
>>52414197
I'd go with the G4. Removable storage, free 200 gig sd card for limited time offer, probably will have good aftermarket rom support and probably a good repairablilty rating. I have the G3 rooted on CM 12.1 and I absolutely love it.

There are some caveats like no ir blaster support and snapchat causes random reboots sometimes but I can live with those.

z3 compact. and for god sake, get the incipio dualpro case. the z3c rear is glass, and the case has two separate layers, so it offers excellent protectoon. the omly issue is that is blocks the magnetic charging port. the flap covering the micro usb port will come off at some point apparently. and get a tempered glass screen protector too (all smartphone users should have one).

My first phone was the nokia 521 then about three months later I bought the 1020, when that cracked I bought another. The screen cracked after a bike ride and bricked the whole phone. I'm on the first one and it has failing battery life now after two years as well as the cracked screen hurting my ears when I answer calls.

Naturally I just upgraded to the newest windows phone the 950. however that one had heat issues and was returned, but with all the issues with windows 10 now I don't think I can rely on getting another.

I'm completely overwhelmed with all the choices I have now.
Can someone be of help?

Is glance a windows phone only thing? I'd prefer an amoled screen and I've love an equal camera as I travel overseas and record/take pictures and the 1020 has definitely been useful as has onedrive.. If I were to get an android I would just run the windows launcher I've seen before.

How does that launcher even relate to battery life? Do things like that use a lot of battery?

I do have some things I've been looking at, the lumia 930, nexus 6p. I know I don't like galaxies nor iphones. Something with 4k video would be nice

Will the Xiomi mi's run on t-mobile? I don't mind if it's not LTE as I'm pretty satisfied with the Hspa+ I get from my current Belgium 1020. No need to stay within carriers I buy my phones unlocked.

I just really don't know where to start as now I have a whole spectrum of phones, where before I preferred to stay within Nokia.

I think one or two Motorola phones in the past had something like glance, but nowadays your best bet would be something like the lgv10. There's an always-on strip above the screen displaying notifications. It has a nice camera too.

You can try a second 950? Amoled+glance+nice camera+live tiles you can't find all these together in any other device
